RACE 1

SPINARELLA is double accepted for a 3 year old 1200 on Saturday and a C3 1100 on Sunday. This is clearly the easier race, but can understand being drawn barrier 1 to box seat in an $80,000 race on Saturday if they stay there. However, should they scratch to run on Sunday then you’d be paying her a huge amount of respect in a very winnable race. GREAT PROMISE continues to find or two better. She’s on speed, she’s giving 110%, she’s just not finding any races where she can pinch a cheap section. WHO’S BENT will find this easier than the 60+ Graduation he raced in last start behind his flying stablemate Kings Honour. SOMETHING ROYAL gets in with only 52.5kg after the claim for Ebony Johnson.

RACE 2

DUNDEE LASS tried to match motors with talented sprinter Dawn Dancer in her 400m jump out and then ran well behind a Saturday bound Yamanex in the 1000m barrier trial. Mitch Pateman’s team has been humming and this looks a nice starting point for her career. Expect she’ll be ridden with aggression to take up a spot and should be in the mix on debut in a race which may divide opinions. STRUT YOUR STUFF looked like he had something to offer last start when chopped out at a crucial stage in a race that should hold up as a form reference (Truly Loyal – 60+ Grad winner, Our Main Man – big into fourth when three deep the trip). LITTLE MAXIMUS ran second to impressive Peters Investments debutante winner Royal Reflection in his most recent barrier trial. VAULTING SPIRIT ran well on debut behind All The Stars.

  RACE 3

HOLD MY WINE showed a bit early in his 2 year old career but has now tested the patience of punters a bit. He always seems to trail up really well and this campaign was no different, winning by a near 3L margin. In a race without a huge amount of depth to it, going to take the gamble one last time that he can reproduce the barrier trials on race day. CEYONE looks the kind of mare who might benefit from time. She’s got a set of blinkers going on and considering in her initial preparation she wanted to run her races in patches and switch on and off it does look the right move. HARVEY’S WISH was sent out $5.50 on debut but didn’t perform to expectation. 3 months later, first-up, no trial, shades on. Market watch. SALVE REGINA narrowly missed last start.

RACE 4

JUST YES stepped out for the first time for new trainer Luke Fernie and ran really well behind Vampi Queen. He looks like he’ll get 1600, 1800, 2000m no worries and second-up he’s drawn to get a better run and if he can reproduce his last 600m from a pair or two closer then he’ll take beating. BELIEVE AGAIN trialled up nicely leading into his debut, met with good backing and then didn’t get the right flow/run into the race. If you swap the runs you could easily make the case that you swap the result between Just Yes and Believe Again from that day. Great opportunity for Jason Lyon with Grant & Alana Williams. They’re clearly the pair and could clear out from rivals. PURE ‘N’ SIMPLE gets a soft run. THREESPIRIT is a free spirit – she looks a handful.

RACE 5

COME ON EMMA looks to have found a really winnable race here. First-up this campaign she finished third behind Cable Rock (subsequent winner) and Radiant Light (subsequent winner). Second-up she’s staring at an 8 horse field, with less depth to it and considering she was without a barrier trial she should only be fitter. Won’t get many better opportunities than this to win a second race. PLAYING FREE took a while to work into form this campaign but has now finished second at two of his past three, including in a C3 to Zeezea two back. SHOW ON THE ROAD was effectively given a 1000m barrier trial first-up. 1400m far more his go, and then onto further distances from there. ON CUE better suited back out in trip.

RACE 6

FARADIO was actually a really good run first-up. It was a race dominated from on top of the speed and he was back and wide over an unsuitable 1200m. Considering he’s now won a 1000m trial by over 3L and run well fresh at 1200, he’s clearly come back to racing in good order. Few queries on a number of rivals gives him an eachway chance. HEYZOUS looked to be winding up quite well in his recent 1000 barrier trial under little riding. Like the fact that he goes straight to a 1300 because from what we’ve seen at trials if he went to a 1000 or a 1200 he would likely have been run off his legs. RUN RUPERT RUN trialled super at Belmont but was an alarming drifter and ran accordingly first-up. Straight to 1300, back into a maiden from a 3 year old Plate. QUEEN’S ELEGANCE will only carry 53.5 (or 54kg) and looks to have some ability.

RACE 7

AWESOME FORCE has put the writing on the wall at his last two outings. Shades off, winkers on and hopefully here he’ll end up in the moving line and have something take him into the race, rather than being the one who needs to make that sweeping run on his own like has been forced into recently. Going super and deserves to win one. ICANDOIT ONMYOWN beat home Obscentino and more importantly Miss Veuve last start. Surprised the form has held up on that Heavy9 but here we are! POINT OF LUCK is a really hard mare to follow and catch with such a negative racing pattern but she did catch the eye last start. OBSCENTINO has been brave at his last two. He might be a 35 start C1 (after being a 34-start maiden) but his last two are both career best.
