Matt Young’s Tuesday Gloucester Park Preview

Race 1

Tough old race to start. FUEGO CRUZADO (1) hasn’t had the best of luck in recent runs and has been getting off the arm better too, if she can lead, I think she will run a big race and looks hard to beat but even if crossed won’t be far away. DAMAGE DONE (5) is the one that I think can burn across at the start and lead but would be more confident at a mile or less. EN PARIANT SUR (11) is right up to these and showed improvement last time out in a stand, back to a mobile and will require some luck. A DUKE TO BE (10) was better last run and drawn to get a soft run, novelty chance with KARAOKE STAR (2) capable but lacks early toe, VISITING HOURS (3) drawn to be close enough with MONTERIO (4) who is a hard horse to catch.

Suggested Bet: FUEGO CRUZADO (1) each way.

Race 2

BULL SHARK BETTY (1) has the ideal draw and speed to lead; she has been holding good consistency for Mark Lee and looks a strong chance in this. AMERICAN MONARCH (2) has been racing devoid of luck and performing well, drawn to be prominent and looks a major player. ZLATO (12) was a metro winner on Friday night and did it at both ends, no reason he can’t be in the money again. OUR MAJOR JACK (6) hit the line well Friday night but faces another tricky gate and early speed isn’t high on his attributes. TORREVEAN AMY (4) and GOGGINS (8) face awkward draws but racing well enough.

Suggested Bet: AMERICAN MONARCH (2) each way.

Race 3

SEAGRASS (1) ideally drawn and trialled up well enough for this, has early speed and is a bold front runner, will be hard to catch even on return. BET ON THE RIVER (10) is in the A1 position in running and has metro form and race fitness, will be dangerous if getting out. IDEAL TOMADO (11) has hit the line well in recent runs and looks a chance to run in the money here. LEAVEAMESSAGE (6) has some speed with BY ROYAL COMMAND (4) and both will get forward with the former racing in superior form and was a good effort in the John Higgins Memorial and so was BEYOND BLING (7) who is ready to win and might go around a silly price and is worth having something small on. BURGHLEY SHARD (8) and MYSTA MOON WALKER (12) both capable.

Suggested Bet: SEAGRASS (1) to win.

Race 4

Competitive race here. FLY TO THE FINISH (7) hit the line strongly on Friday night and is racing well, Lachie Kennelly has driven this horse to victory and there is enough happening inside him to suggest him getting a decent run, quite versatile and will run well. CONTROL THE ROOM (1) is the logical thought as he will likely lead but has a habit of mixing his form. LOUIE LEBEAU (6) may have a solid crack out the gate and is racing well that if he found the top he’d give them something to catch. SOUND WAVE (2) is racing well and drawn down low with both STARLIGHT DREAM (8) and SKYLORD (9) capable but drawn the visitors’ gates. POCKET THE CHANGE (10) a novelty chance already on the rail.

Tips: 7 1 8 6

Suggested Bet: FLY TO THE FINISH (7) each way.

Race 5

ARMAFLIGHT (3) competed well against I’m Stealthy and D Mac on Friday night in a superior form race to this and looks well placed to return to the winners list, if no harm was taken from Friday’s run, I am expecting him to return to the winners list. TSUNAMI WAVE (1) was better last run and is on the improve and has the nice draw. THE LIONS DEN (2) hit the line well last time out at Narrogin off a soft run, he has been allergic to the gate in most of his performances. QUEEN OF NIGHTS (10) trialled soundly and has a soft draw and goes into novelty calculation with TORREVEAN ENVY ME (5) and ALVAREZ (7).

Tips: 3 1 2 10

Suggested Bet: ARMAFLIGHT (3) to win.

Race 6

LORD VINCENTIUS (7) was all at sea at Narrogin last time out but will be better for the experience and AFD jumps aboard to steer the ship tonight, form line out of that race has been quite strong and expecting this horse to go close, not a deep race and can get the win. CROWN GENERAL (8) was a sound return and as mentioned prior in these blogs, has shown ability but has raced some nice types, this grade suits and will be fitter, should run well. ASHANESIA (5) is just me being stubborn and keeping on following a horse that takes my money, but I promise there is a win in store soon, keep her safe in your novelties! GLOBAL ARK (1) ideally drawn but lacked early speed at Bunbury, looks a novelty player here as I want to see more from him and NELLYS WORLD (2) and MAKIN DUST (10) novelty hopes.

Suggested Bet: LORD VINCENTIUS (7) to win.

Race 7

JETPACK (3) was a victim of unfortunate circumstances last time but still went well considering and this looks suitable, has some good early speed but will be tested early but think he has strings to his bow and should win. EXPRESSING (7) is the threat with her early speed and can run a good mile, will run a bold race. SEASPIRIT (6) is a talented type and with the small field shouldn’t be too far away, respect her to be a top 3 player with the stablemate THE VITRUVIAN MAN (2) who has shown ability. GAME ON GIRLS (8) trialled well and did things wrong on debut, could run top 4 at some value.

Tips: 3 7 6 2

Suggested Bet: JETPACK/EXPRESSING to Quinella.

Race 8

HOOAH (8) ran a probably career best run and it was in a trial behind Penny Black last Wednesday, I am unsure of how he wins this race, but I can’t go away from that run, anything close to that will likely win this. SONIC SEELSTER (3) will lead, he held up last time out and wasn’t beaten far, might try that tactic again. OURFIRSTIMPRESSION (7) was a solid enough effort from the breeze in a dash (1100) at Bunbury, may have to do the work again here. METEOROID (5) capable of improvement with ZUEDE (6) who isn’t at his best but early speed and distance are probably against him here. SPINNER OF YARNS (9) can do work and likely put into it at some stage and ALLWOODS CHEVRON (11) is racing consistently.

Tips: 8 7 3 5

Suggested Bet: HOOAH (8) to win.

Race 9

SHEZA BROMAC (2) has brilliant early speed, drops in grade and improves in fitness and with the speed to lead, will be hard to beat. PHILTHEJUG (1) is a good on speed type, but early speed can mix and looks a chance to be leaders back and run into the money. HURRICANEHOPE (10) will follow through nicely and was a solid effort in town last start, will be running on with even luck. ESSENCE OF ROYALTY (11) won a moderate maiden when leading and won’t get that luxury here but will bounce off that run nicely. STRIKE MASTER (6) and VINTAGE BLU (7) both capable but poorly drawn. REDDY TO FLY (12) will be running on.

Tips: 2 1 10 11

Suggested Bet: SHEZA BROMAC (2) to win.
