Race 1

All the key chances have drawn well. LA REINA VEGA was strongly supported on debut at Seymour and sat three wide on a modest speed and couldn’t reel in the race-fit winner. Her best work late, 1400m and a good draw, the one to beat. CRUSADING KNIGHT is a smart looking unraced gelding from the Danny O’Brien, untested at the jumpouts, D Lane a key rider booking. Also nominated Friday Seymour. THE REGENT beat the latter when pushed out to win a Werribee jumpout over 1100m, stable having a great run. LADY PUISSANCE was game in defeat at Seymour first-up, among the wider chances.

Race 2

Maiden race lacking depth. SOMETHINGSBURNIN’ switches to the Waller yard in Melbourne and won a jumpout in soft fashion sitting wide on the track, he looks well-placed in this to open his account. IN’KANTOSSTAR was impressive in defeat on debut in a good form race, that was in December last year, no trials or jumpouts listed for the gelding since, guess work on how he has returned. PLINIAN is a debutant with the Feek stable showing ability at the jumpouts, deserves respect. KOKO has had many chances.

Race 3

Interesting runner is ROCK CATCHER debuting for the Eurell stable, showed staying promise in NZ in three career starts the latest on a synthetic track over 1700m. Tight track could be her biggest hurdle, D Lane booked, low race, winning hope. BELLABAMA has been a model of consistency, she’s worth another chance in a race with depth. HAKUSAN has trialled well, needs to improve on the debut effort at Sandown. DETERMINATO blinkers back on BIVVY minor hopes.

Race 4

If ever OMAMORI was going to win a race this is his best opportunity, racing well against metro-grade stayers in strong races, he drops back to a BM62 with the important 3kg claim, nowhere to hide for him here. Like the way KING OF SAVOY improved getting up in trip last start at Sale, he looks capable of making the leap in grade. REDDIVO is one that is in form and gets a significant class drop. THREE REEL ROSES last start winner and a mare in form worth considering.

Race 5

KING WEST can replicate his slick Cranbourne jumpout on the course proper with a win first-up with a low draw. Fast horse and needs Neindorf to let him run. FOXENBERG was well-supported to win first-up at Sandown last week and scratched. Tricky draw to overcome, good fresh horse and best is good enough to feature. NORDIC STRIKE is on the quick back-up after a game effort in defeat at Sandown, if he takes his place he’s in the mix. NICCEREINE and BLISS BOMB deserve respect. Deep race.

Race 6

A few of these mares just going through the motions so keen to play the impressive first-up winner ALIEN ANGEL winning at this course over 1300m and was prepped up for it with three jumpouts, won’t need to improve any to competitive again in the higher grade. ATAEGINA was poorly-placed at Flemington, this suits better and deserves her place in the market. TAN TAT DELIGHT gets a partial class drop and will find this easier than her recent racing. VIENNA VIXENS best is hard to knock if she can find it.

Race 7

Perfect placement for RUSSIAN DUCHESS scratched from the bog track at Sandown last week and now lines up in a very winnable race. FINANCE SHOGUN comes out of the same race and will give a sight on speed around the tight circuit with Olivia East claiming. NGONGOTATA was heavily-backed at the shorts to win at Moe and did so with authority, may go on with it now. QUEENSBURY is a consistent horse, chosen to put the senior rider on ahead of a claim.

Race 8

Brutal finish, chances galore. I think TURNAQUID can run a race second-up for the new stable, carried the 61kg from the back in a race dominated up front at Bairnsdale, got home ok, now claiming from a good draw, big chance to improve. CASTELLITO’S hopes improve with a drying track, she’s worked on the poly leading into this first-up run. GET HONOR will appreciate the speed on up front, Mick Dee will have swooping from the back. ILLUMINANCE the local also in the mix.
