Chris Nelson’s Saturday Rosehill Preview Posted on July 16, 2026July 16, 2026 | Posted by Chris Nelson Race 1 We’re racing at Rosehill on Saturday where the going is likely to be in the soft range with showers forecast. The meeting gets underway with a 2yo Handicap where I’m with (2) SEEIAYE who clocked in a solid second behind the highly rated Omolong here last start. Up on speed throughout he stuck to his task well beaten only half a length & any repeat of that has him as the runner to beat. (6) SATIN SUMMER ran third in the same race, the 1200m is the query here however she strips fitter for the run. (1) INTERNAL AFFAIRS won fresh, two prior runs sound in better races than this. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet: SEEIAYE TO WIN (Small bet). Race 2 Topweight (1) MAFIA looks very well placed to land todays Midway. Placed third same track & class last start behind Cold Brew & Hellova Nature note both of those horses have won again making the form line a very strong one. With Siena Grima to steer & carrying no more weight than that last start this looks his race. (14) EMBRACE THE WIND is only lightly raced & a second-up winner, drew wide first up & settled last before making good ground. (12) MOTOSCAFO third up should be ready to improve. Numbers: 1 – 14 – 12 – 4 Suggested Bet: MAFIA TO WIN. RACE 3 Very open looking Highway where I’m leaning to the unbeaten (16) DIVIDENDS PAID who needs to handle the class rise however based on his two career wins when leading throughout he’s well up to the task & two lead-up trials should have him ready to strike from the good draw. The query of course is the wet ground as both wins have come on dry surfaces. (7) DAWN ON ME gets Siena Grima & her 2kg claim, another who draws well & settles on speed. (12) KAKODA deserves a crack at this having won 2 of 4 on the country circuit. Numbers: 16 – 7 – 12 – 4 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. Race 4 Like the look of (8) ATTRACTIVENESS who is only a lightly raced filly with two wins to her credit. Dominant scoring first up at Newcastle she then ran into the above average Hello Captain here 2 weeks ago when clocking in third. She just gave the impression on that occasion she was looking for further which she gets this afternoon. (9) CHEVAL DE BOIS just couldn’t quite peg back (1) BALLPARK on the Kenso track last start, meets that one 1.5kg better at the weights today, big chance to turn the tables. (5) KONSA can improve off the last start unplaced run, previous efforts were good. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet: ATTRACTIVENESS TO WIN. Race 5 2400m distance affair, we know these races can turn up surprise winners. Having said that I am going with a couple at the top of the market & both from the Waller camp being (3) MASOUN & (14) LE TROISIR. Honestly either could win & their last start efforts suggest they are close, I’ll just lean to the former who has had a rent run over the trip (last start) & may be the more primed this time around. (9) CORMAC T has won over this distance & is a consistent type albeit without winning too often, gave a good sight here last start before being run over by a roughie late. Numbers: 3 – 14 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet: BACKING TOP 2 SELECTIONS TO WIN. Race 6 The consistent (2) TICKLEBELLY will find herself right up on speed from the get-go here & it won’t matter one bit what the track condition is. Placed her past couple both here at this level she’ll carry less weight with the claim gets her chance to break through. (3) SWORD OF LEGACY is a starter both here & at Doomben as I type, no idea which way connections will lean however a strong winning chance in whichever race they decide on. (8) SEQUISTA just struggles to win however is rarely far away & gets the claim once again here. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet: TICKLEBELLY EACH-WAY. Race 7 No doubt (10) ICE KOOL will start short here however I cannot tip against him. Two starts for as many wins this prep he had to work 3 deep with the big weight of 60kg last start yet was still too strong for his rivals. He takes on stronger opposition today however won’t know himself with the light weight. (4) ROSELYN’S STAR is very consistent, yet to win fresh however placed 2 of 3 first up & put in a very good run when resuming last prep to beat all bar the winner, trialled encouragingly. (3) AVIATRESS is another to resume, won 3 of 7 fresh missing a placing only once. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet: ICE KOOL TO WIN (will be short odds though). Race 8 (20) READY TO SHINE needs a number of scratchings to gain a start here as 6th emergency, his chances are slim & should he miss out expect to see him go around in the final race today, for the record though should he sneak in he is my top tip. If not then (7) ELOUYOU gets the nod, recent form in Victoria is certainly good enough for this & importantly he handles all types of going. (3) DARK GLITTER broke a long run of outs to score here a fortnight ago, she’s run well in much stronger races than this & could make it two straight without surprising. Numbers: 20 – 7 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet: READY TO SHINE EACH-WAY/Wide exotics. Race 9 The very consistent (8) MIDNIGHT DYNAMITE looks very well placed to bring up his fourth win from 6 starts this prep in today’s 200k feature. Cracking effort last start here when drawing wide & sitting deep throughout yet still managing to clock in third. He’ll score a more economical run today & carries no more weight, can’t see the rise to 1500m being an issue either. (3) WAR ETERNAL has been in great form of late winning three straight in Queensland at their recent winter carnival, the wetter the track the better his chances. (2) GENERAL SALUTE broke through for a well overdue win last start, he’s a classy customer who had been hard to catch, rises 2.5kg for the win. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet: MIDNIGHT DYNAMITE TO WIN. Race 10 (2) READY TO SHINE if not a starter in Race 8 gets the nod here. Very consistent with a good winning strike rate he draws nicely & gets the 2kg claim for Siena Grima jumping from a good gate. Like the way (12) COLUMBIA BLUE is tracking however not so much the barrier, particularly over 1200m here, will need luck or cover, maybe even both. (10) VERBIL resumes with a very good fresh record (3 from 3), I’m a bit surprised at the opening price, expected shorter. Numbers: 2 – 12 – 10 – 13 Suggested Bet: READY TO SHINE TO WIN. Market Market
