Scott Embry’s Sunday Geraldton Preview Posted on April 17, 2026April 17, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SNEAKY SESSION ran third in a C1 at Gero three back to Salvvado and Rule The Realm and at her most recent outing she finished a distant second to Flaming Ronda. Really hard to get too enthused about any of these and at least she drops 2kg with the Jefferson Tsang claim which can only help her cause. ROYAL RIVIERA showed very little for the Pearce Brothers down in Perth across three separate 950m Lark Hill trials and has now headed to Albert Bowtell in Geraldton. The only public appearance for her new trainer was a solid 1100m trial win. Watch. LOONA DAWN and MAGNIFICENT MIA both had their chance at Dongara, however, they’ll each land on speed and this is another very thin maiden. Numbers: 8 – 9 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – SNEAKY SESSION WIN RACE 2 GANAJI WANGKATHE headed to Geraldton to make his debut off the back of two solid Belmont Park trials and was the target of really good backing. He got a fair way back and then attacked the line hard on debut at 1400m and closed the gap to just over a half length behind Giles. Encouraging start to his career and the entire Meryl Hayley yard is going really well. Think he can wind up over these. BLUE LUPIN was only 2L off Arrangement and Midnight Star at Pinjarra in a mile maiden two back and then the time figures out of the Cosmic Gem race at Albany were huge. Expect him to meet with support. IL BELLO BEALS is now a 22 start maiden who has had a few races in Geraldton now that were nearly handed to him on a silver platter and yet he still fumbled. Just finds one better every time. DIAMAS led fresh at 1200m and was only run down late. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 1 – 12 Suggested Bet – GANAJI WANGKATHE WIN RACE 3 KIMBERLEY CURRENCY won first-up last preparation (at Carnarvon) but then went on to finish second in a C1 at Geraldton to Hewilldous and then in town at Ascot finished within 2.5L of Champion Fillies placed Fine Star, Hedawood and C1 winner Dominatus in the prep. He’s no star, but he’s back down to a c54, he goes well fresh and 1100m seems to be his go. Many of these are deep into their prep and haven’t set the world on fire this campaign so he’s afforded a great chance to pinch one fresh. TWELVEUNDER is speedy and Natika Riordan should have no troubles finding the top and staying out of trouble. Should only be fitter second up too. WEAPONIZE can reel off a big L600 on occasion. Just a bit hit and miss. GOLD LIGHTNING hasn’t been disgraced since breaking maiden status. Competitive type. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 9 – 3 Suggested Bet – KIMBERLEY CURRENCY WIN RACE 4 SCURGEOFTHEWEST is now a bit of an awkward horse to place. The choice is either to carry 60.5kg in the C5/64+ grade or come into 70+ and be dictated to by the programming. He’s now 37 days between runs, 1600m back to 1200m but does drop 4kg in weight. He’s probably not a natural 1200m horse and if this was 1400m you’d declare him, but he’s classy and he’s progressive and we’ll continue to follow him. PLAYING GAMES drops out of 60+ Graduation / 0MWLY type races in town and she was only 2L behind Snippety Legend last start (70+ winner) so it puts her right in the mix. Shades went on last start and have come straight back off. PRINCE RAGNAR has won his last two with strong all the way wins. 1200m may see him out? GOLD KEEPER doesn’t know how to run a bad race. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – SCURGEOFTHEWEST WIN RACE 5 PRINCE EPAULETTE was an all the way winner of a Bunbury 1675m maiden back in August 2025 and this campaign stepped out for his first Meryl Hayley run in a C3 1400 at Belmont where 1.5L off Peter Gunn, subsequent 60+ winner Fifth Essence and beat home Howdy who was plunged on Wednesday at Pinjarra and ran third in a 0MWLY. Gets out to a more preferred distance, drops back into a country C2 and can roll forward in a race without any real speed or pressure. Nice set up. LEONARDO DA GREY is the class runner but has to navigate a horror draw. EXTREME LOVE has promised to win a race ever since joining the Mitch Pateman yard. Shades reapplied and the mare who beat her in Albany last start won again on Thursday. SPACE ACADEMY bolted in at Belmont Park three back and then bounced back to form last start at York with an eye catching minor after seemingly failing to run out 1900m at Albany. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – PRINCE EPAULETTE WIN RACE 6 MANGIFERA is having her 10th run of the campaign but continues to go consistently well. After winning a C1 1400 and a C3 1400 back to back she has contested 5x 15/1600m races and maybe that distance is right on her limit. She’s 1600m backto 1400m, she’s drawn to get every chance and have no issues with the Westspeed Platinum form through Crunchy Nut and Precious God holding up in the Abrolhos Plate. Draws to get every chance and has the tactical speed early to hold a spot. Looks a nice race for her. SOUTHLAND is one of the more progressive horses in the region. He’s got a stack of natural ability and that was on display first-up in a C2 demolition job. ZORBRIST is hard to catch but at his best he can win this and win it well. It’s just which version you get is a mystery. ARCHENEMY has pulled a rabbit out of the hat twice in three runs. Where has that turn of foot been his entire career? Numbers: 10 – 8 – 9 – 11 Suggested Bet – MANGIFERA WIN RACE 7 TRUE PLAYER is finally starting to fulfill the potential he showed earlier in his career. He has now won a Westspeed 1600, a 66+ 2000, finished second to Lillian in a 66+ 2200 and then won the Albany Cup. He had to dig deep in the Albany Cup and concedes 1.5kg to Rocking Society but in that Head to Head contest the barrier draw has had a big say and sways you to True Player completing the Albany-Gero double. INVINCIBLE THIEF resumed in a Grad 1400 off an 8 week freshen and you immediately thought ‘there’s a Geraldton Cup horse’. Solid second-up at 1800m and should be peaking third up. All three wins are Holly Nottle and she’s back aboard Sunday. ROCK IN WONDER can roll to the top and give them all something to run down. ROCKING SOCIETY ran fourth in a Perth Cup. He’s the class. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 13 – 1 Suggested Bet – TRUE PLAYER WIN RACE 8 ENTICING showed gate speed that many didn’t think he had last start to breeze and bolt in. He won by over 2L, he stopped the clock over 2L faster than 58+ average and he again races same track, same distance, same grade, same hoop and potentially even same position in running. In form and now versatile. Why can’t he win again? DEEP DISCRETION ran second in that event and gets 1.5kg to try and turn the tables. 14th run of a campaign dating back to October 2025. Huge effort from horse and trainer. GOLD VANCOUVER won a C5 1100 at Bunbury last prep and resumed in the 70+ sprint behind Prince Ragnar. Big class dropper and maps well midfield. PRECAST has been there abouts all prep and don’t mind the move from Mack Hall to race her in this grade and get 4.5kg of weight relief. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 2 – 13 Suggested Bet – ENTICING WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,3,9 8,9,10 1,3,9,13 2,5,6 Market Market
