Chris Nelson’s Saturday Eagle Farm Preview Posted on February 27, 2025February 27, 2025 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 Racing at Eagle Farm on Saturday will take place on a Good rated surface. We get the meeting underway with a Class 3 over the mile where INFLUENTIAL will go around the popular elect & on recent form is the horse to beat. Terrific first up run at Doomben when caught deep he quickly made amends for that unlucky effort winning same track & trip second-up. Although yet to win at 1600m I don’t see that being an issue here. IMATRUESTAR clocked in second same race making good late ground, 1600m looks suitable based on that however he’s winless at 7 attempts to date. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 9 Suggested Bet: INFLUENTIAL TO WIN. RACE 2 OUROBOROS is an ex-Victorian galloper now with the Matt Hoysted yard. Placed in Group 3 company at Caulfield three back he’s only missed a placing once in 7 attempts & looked the goods when winning a recent Deagon trial. Off an inside draw he’s the one to beat unless a big market drifter. LADY LUCIFER is down to run here & the Sunshine Coast Friday night, very promising & has winning claims wherever she heads. STAROSHKA an improver however will need luck from the wide draw. Numbers: 7 – 10 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet: OUROBOROS TO WIN. RACE 3 PROFOUNDLY opened up over double figures in earl markets, in fact she was the outsider of the field. Well, she’s not that price now & I’m not surprised as she clearly brings the best form line into the race having debut behind Sunrays & Pretty Dubious who of course won the two Jewel Preludes at Doomben last Saturday. She went back that day from the wide draw however had shown pace in her lead-up trials, drawn well this time around she’s a great chance. LOVE TO TORQUE & ATOMIC TIME won & placed here in the same race recently, should I be wrong with PROFOUNDLY then expect they can fight the race out. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet: PROFOUNDLY EACH-WAY. RACE 4 Lightly raced Justify filly JUST PRECIOUS looks well suited to 1400m, in fact she may have been chasing it last start when third here. She just didn’t have the dash to hold off the late closers & note she placed at her first two starts both over 1350m. Respecting the Sydney form with GOODLUCKTOME who comes out of a last start Group 3, well drawn should get every possible chance with the big weight. Really liked the win of ANNIE ONE READY at Ipswich, should she measure up here she’s right in it. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 5 Weekly distance affair where anything is possible, there’s just not enough consistency amongst these to get confident. EL JASOR is an import who won well first up on the Sunshine Coast, he did beat walkers however he did so convincingly & should have upside. ALDEENAARY might be getting close again, definitely well placed to run well here. SIMPLY REFUSE will get back & run on, freshened up look for her late. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 9 – 3 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 6 Keen on the chances of SET TO SHINE who caught the eye running home well fresh here over 1200m before a month between runs up to 1400m her latest when always looking to be up against it. She didn’t run badly & didn’t see much daylight the first half of the straight however only battled when clear. It was a forgive run & she now stays at the same trip with only 2 weeks between runs mapping to race up on a very soft looking tempo. UNTIL VALHALLA comes out of the same race clocking in second, main danger. TOESONTHENOSE & NORTHERN DECREE will both be strong late. Numbers: 6 – 12 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet: SET TO SHINE TO WIN. RACE 7 First leg of the Quaddie, I’d be going as wide as possible. CARTWHEELS has always been a favourite of mine & her win first up at the Sunshine Coast was better than good as she did it against the pattern of the meeting coming right down the outside from well back in the field. She’s clearly going to need plenty in her favour though as she’ll give away a decent start from the wide alley. OUTSMARTED should likely be unbeaten, unlucky at the only defeat he has to measure up to this stronger level however suggest he can do that. No knock VALETUDO who was back in trip & heavily backed to win here last start, 1300m suits. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 12 – 2 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 8 Good race, COMPELLING TRUTH races well when on the fresh side, drawn a good alley here he’s going to find the front & based on his recent close up trial effort behind the very smart Gringotts he’ll take plenty of running down. WANDA ROX ticks plenty of boxes being unbeaten fresh & unbeaten at the track & trip, claim a big help also. Liked ROCKRIBBED’s trial however 1000m might be a little sharp for him? BRERETON the other chance, did win fresh last prep, second up also! Numbers: 2 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 9 Tony Gollan with a very strong hand in the race including the resuming MILLANE who has been very well supported in early markets. I’m with the last start winner TERMAGANT who made up for the unlucky effort at her previous run charging clear of her opposition. She’s very promising, can land a handy spot from the good draw & has a very short sharp sprint when saved up. MILLANE’s stablemates WARBY & IMMORAL in the mix, should TERMAGANT have an off day they will be the ones to beat. Numbers: 11 – 6 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet: TERMAGANT TO WIN. RACE 10 Going with CUNNAMULLA FELLA to turn the tables on TENZING who beat him home here last start. There’s a 1.5kg turnaround for the just under a length defeat & CUNNAMULLA FELLA will land a lot closer this time around courtesy of a much more favourable draw. TENZING definitely the toughest to beat once again whilst his stablemate RISING PACIFIC who ran third in the same race isn’t without a winning chance either, holds a good record here on the track. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 5 – 9 Suggested Bet: CUNNAMULLA FELLA TO WIN. Market Market
