Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on February 27, 2025February 27, 2025 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 ILLAWONG MUSTANG (4) has been in great form and has won his last three on end. He is drawn outside of his main rivals tonight but should still prove hard to beat. MEDIEVAL MAN (2) faced the breeze when a game 2nd in solid time at Northam two starts back and will give a great sight at each way odds if he can find the front here. SOHO SHAKEDOWN (3) has used his good gate speed to win five of his six career starts including a good win here last week. He takes on the older horses tonight but will be hard to catch if he crosses at the start. ARIONROCK (11) has been placed in six of his past seven starts and should be thereabouts again. Tips: 4 3 2 11 Suggested Bet: MEDIEVAL MAN (2) each way. Race 2 PAUL EDWARD (1) led throughout in slick time four starts back and has battled bad draws in his subsequent runs. He meets a strong line-up tonight but has the advantage of the pole draw and he should lead and prove hard to catch. MONTANA DJ (10) worked hard in the run and was only nosed out on the line when first-up here last week and will fight out the finish if he has any luck from this barrier. THELITTLE MASTER (3) is racing extremely well and will be hoping for a solid tempo. HILLVIEW BONDI (6) looks likely to take up the breeze position and he can be in the money from there. Tips: 1 10 3 6 Suggested Bet: PAUL EDWARD (1) to win. Race 3 REINETTE (2) ran 2nd in the Golden Slipper at the end of her 2YO campaign and her efforts since resuming have indicated that she has come back stronger. She has a significant barrier advantage over her main rivals and is clearly the one to beat. ITS MAA TIME (12) has won four of her last five starts and the defeat can be forgotten as nothing went right. She has a back line draw to overcome but has plenty of ability. JAXS IDEAL (11) took 13 starts to break through but has now won four on end including a win over a very similar field at her last start and must be respected. DELULU (6) keeps improving and can figure with the right run. Tips: 2 12 11 6 Suggested Bet: REINETTE (2) to win. Race 4 CAPTAIN STIRLING (1) saw daylight late and hit the line nicely when 3rd to Soho Shakedown when first-up here last week. He isn’t a certainty to lead but will be hard to beat if he can hold up at the start. BELLY UP (7) has beaten CAPTAIN STIRLING (1) home the last two times they have met and won the 2YO edition of this event and is an obvious danger. CHARIVARI (6) has recorded two all-the-way wins in quick time and will be hard to catch if he can find the front. HOLD THE AMMO (4) wasn’t suited in the breeze at his last start but must be considered on his previous form. Tips: 1 7 6 4 Suggested Bet: CAPTAIN STIRLING (1) to win. Race 5 BUTTER ME UP (3) is the one of the favoured quartet who is yet to record a victory but his effort in the heat to run 4th was enormous and he will give a great sight if he can maintain the barrier advantage over his main rivals in the early stages. IDEAL BEACH (10) was an impressive 16 metre winner of the quickest heat and will be hard to hold out if he has any luck from his awkward barrier. FEAR THE STORM (5) and CEASE TO REACT (4) fought out the other heat with the former proving too good and looking to have further scope for improvement. Tips: 3 10 5 4 Suggested Bet: BUTTER ME UP (3) to win. Race 6 MA PETITE DAME (4) faced the breeze in the quickest heat and was only caught on the line by WISHING BELLE (8) who enjoyed a softer run. It wouldn’t surprise to see these two fillies fight out the finish and I’m leaning to MA PETITE DAME (4) due to the better barrier. CHEFS KISS (1) did things wrong but still got up to win her heat and will be hard to beat if she can hold up from the pole draw. HIGHVIEW ROZI (3) was a strong 3rd at big odds and would give them something to catch at odds if she could find the front. Tips: 4 8 1 3 Suggested Bet: MA PETITE DAME (4) to win. Race 7 PRINCESS KATIE (1) and BETTOR ARCADE (2) started from the opposite barriers last start and BETTOR ARCADE (2) led throughout to record a comfortable win. If he crosses then he is likely to repeat the result but I think PRINCESS KATIE (1) can kick through and lead and she will become the one to beat if that does eventuate. TRAVELBAN (10) is drawn to get a lovely run behind the speed and should be in the finish. AUCKLAND JET (12) will be at big odds but he closed off nicely behind the favoured pair at his last start and will be running on if the go hard. Tips: 1 2 10 12 Suggested Bet: PRINCESS KATIE (1) to win. Race 8 CEE DEE THREE (1) was a narrow first-up winner over Fat Louie before running on well from the rear when 2nd to FULL SWING DENARIO (10). He goes back to the front line tonight and will give a great sight if he holds up at the start. FULL SWING DENARIO (10) was a comfortable 8m winner of that event and will be charging home if he sees daylight at the right time. BLAZE AWAY (9) has won his last two starts and is proven at this level but has the tough draw to overcome. NO NONEY (5) has been placed in all three starts this time in and should be thereabouts again. Tips: 1 10 9 5 Suggested Bet: CEE DEE THREE (1) to win. Race 9 QUINTESSA (1) has looked good in winning her two race starts and it is hard to make a case against her leading throughout here. CRUNCHEE (4) is a strong filly who ran a nice 3rd to the favourite last start and looks the obvious danger. CHIEF COPY (12) has been placed in five of her last six starts and may settle midfield from this draw. BOGART (7) was a good winner at his first start in 4½ years and will strip fitter from that run. Tips: 1 4 12 7 Suggested Bet: QUINTESSA (1) to win. Race 10 CHAMPAGNE EVERYONE (1) led throughout to defeat a similar field three starts back and is clearly the one to beat from the pole. ALTA ALLURE (2) was a good last start winner and looks the obvious danger. CAPTAINS BEACHBABE (10) is drawn to get the run of the race and looks a good place chance. HUNT THE MAGIC (3) is racing consistently and should enjoy a nice run just behind the speed. Tips: 1 2 10 3 Suggested Bet: CHAMPAGNE EVERYONE (1) to win. Market Market
