Chris Nelson’s Saturday Randwick Preview Posted on October 24, 2024October 24, 2024 | Posted by Chris Nelson RACE 1 More Group 1 racing at Randwick on Saturday with the Spring Champion the feature. We kick the day off with the 2yo’s doing battle & I have to be with the Victorian visitor ARABELLA STAR, she’s been successful at the trials & did beat Miss Celine who of course was impressive winning on debut. Hard to knock, drawn well, should run well. CHICAMA & COMEDY come through the same trial & should run well, the former cost plenty. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet: ARABELLA STAR TO WIN (small bet). RACE 2 Typically open Midway where I’ll lean to the lightly raced LET’S GO AGAIN who should be well placed coming out of a midweek placing at Warwick Farm last start. Only lightly raced she’ll take a position on speed from the good draw & can give a decent sight. LANCASTER BOMBER is always around the mark in these races, drawn better than most should figure in the placings whilst MISS HADES can improve, her second-up record is solid however will need some luck from the draw. Numbers: 14 – 6 – 2 – 15 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 3 Apart from the awkward draw it’s a very suitable looking race for VOLCANIC LOVE who bolted in at Grafton two back before placed at Eagle Farm last start. Very consistent he’s good enough to win this should he not get posted. GHOST WALKER failed at this level two back however there were excuses, form all around that run is very consistent. The lightly raced CABLE EXPRESS draws well & should get the right run for Tommy Berry. Numbers: 4 – 12 – 7 – 17 Suggested Bet: VOLCANIC LOVE EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 4 Keen on the chances of KING OF ROSEAU who looks overs in the early market. There’s certainly nothing wrong with his form hitting the line strongly behind Storm Boy first up before doing the same at Flemington next start behind Everest placegetter Growing Empire. Forgive the latest when nothing panned out & I do like him back to 1200m. HI OCTANE ran well fresh, next couple not as strong, can improve here whilst MANOS who had been a little disappointing was a good winner fresh & may be ready to live up to some of the early wraps. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 6 – 3 Suggested Bet: KING OF ROSEAU TO WIN. RACE 5 Going to have a throw at the stumps TOTOKA here at the big odds. Yes, she faces a decent rise in grade however she did catch the eye late last start & the 1600m looks made to order. Wouldn’t be the least surprised to see her run a big race. Obviously JUST PARTY the hardest to beat, absolutely nothing has gone right this prep kicking off with cardiac arrythmia first up, should have won his next couple before flying home to just miss the latest! ANODE will be up front controlling affairs, can he run the mile? Numbers: 8 – 2 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet: TOTOKA EACH-WAY (small bet). RACE 6 FAWKNER PARK ended his winter campaign with a strong win at Eagle Farm which installed him as Caulfield Cup favourite. Well, that race has been run & won & he never even got to the starting stalls after a sub-standard run in the Underwood. Should he be back to anywhere near his best he can get away with this however I wouldn’t be having my last on him. LINDERMANN can improve sharply second-up, he generally does whilst DEMOCRACY MANIFEST can never be ruled out, did hit the line well in the Epsom. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet: FAWKNER PARK TO WIN (small bet). RACE 7 Very keen on the chances of SWIFT FALCON who will lap up the 2000m of the Group 1 here. Victorious with big finishing bursts his first two runs back from a break he again ran on strongly the latest however just gave away too much start over 1800m. This race just looks made to order for him, he looks a very promising stayer in the making. EL CASTELLO beat SWIFT FALCON last start making it three on the trot, certainly cannot knock, will once again hold an advantage over his big rival into the straight, can he hold on again? RAG QUEEN a place chance at odds, another who will enjoy the longer trip. Not sure about HENLEIN, I was a little disappointed with the late finishing effort last start. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 9 – 3 Suggested Bet: SWIFT FALCON TO WIN. RACE 8 Thought ZOUGOTCHA could bounce back here. She kicked off her prep with a second behind the extremely talented Via Sistina before running last behind Fangirl which was most out of character. Back at this level under the conditions of the race from a good gate she can return to her best form. COCO JAMBO hit the line well after being held up behind Olentia first up, record at this trip overseas is a good one. MAGIC TIME holds a very strong second up record, wouldn’t be overlooking her either. DANNY’S ST DARCI was a good thing beaten last start, will be decent odds, must include. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 2 – 14 Suggested Bet: Box up top 4 selections in exotics. RACE 9 YELLOW BRICK appears very well placed here. He’s had his knockers over time however he’s always been a consistent sprinter who has run into bad luck more often than not. There’s nothing wrong with his form this prep being narrowly beaten first up before bolting in the latest, have to think he’s got these covered. AMOR VICTORIOUS is never far away, carried the light weight to win last start, he’ll no doubt roll along up front giving these plenty to run down. Happy to include FREEDOM RALLY, he’s been a little in & out this prep, if he’s ‘in’ today he’s a place chance. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 10 – 8 Suggested Bet: YELLOW BRICK TO WIN. RACE 10 Confident we can end the day on a winning note with the Queensland Guineas winner KINTYRE on top. Good efforts in the Tramway & the Bill Ritchie he didn’t quite measure up in the Epsom however wasn’t far away. This is a decent class drop & the rise in weight won’t be an issue. TOWNSEND resumes, placed at Group 1 level he’s a big watch here. CAFÉ MILLENIUM hasn’t fired for some time however can improve here, place chance. Numbers: 5 – 11 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet: KINTYRE TO WIN Market Market
