It Pays To Follow Posted on October 7, 2024October 7, 2024 | Posted by Digby Beacham Thursday, October 3 @ Geraldton Race 3 – MOONIEMIA It might be a bit of a stretch considering this gelding doesn’t win out of turn, but had MOONIEMIA seen daylight in the straight on opening day, he could have saluted for just the second time in his 16-start career. Brayden Gaerth was able to put him in the perfect spot in running from a good gate. That was where the good news finished. Through no fault of Brayden, the gaps just didn’t appear, forcing him to wait until the race was as good as over before hitting the line strongly to run fifth. Race 4 – SKY VIEW Much like MOONIEMIA, this mare has found it hard to win races. And much like MOONIEMIA, she was disappointed for a run when a prominent placing looked possible. Fresh off no trial over 1213m, SKY VIEW tracked up and was ready to push through a gap over the concluding stages until the door was shut. She’s had three runs in Geraldton either side of a spell and all have been solid. Surely she doesn’t remain a C1 galloper for much longer. Sunday, October 6 @ Northam Race 5 – SUPERFLUOUS This is a horse who entered many black books following a slashing trial and he remains firmly entrenched after a terrific debut placing in the Avon Valley. Ridden quietly early by Holly Watson, the son of Needs Further was virtually last around the corner where he had to be angled around an out of contention MISTER RAFFLES ((saddle shifted) and was then inconvenienced slightly by NOBLE REIGN inside the final 150m. He still ate up the ground to grab third in a photo, suggesting he will be even better suited as the distances increase.
