Warren Huntly’s Wednesday Sandown Preview Posted on August 6, 2024August 6, 2024 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 ONGATITI worked home well at his first Australian run and should relish the step up to 1600m. POWERFUL TORQUE was below market expectations last start but his previous run was very good and he’ll strip fitter. TYCOONETTE is another that didn’t meet market expectations last time but she’ll strip fitter second up and the form from that race has held up well. AGREEANCE and KISSED EARTH have claims. Selections: 3,4,10,6 Suggested Bet: Ongatiti to win Race 2 Competitive maiden for the three year olds. ATHANATOS caught they eye first up and looks well placed stepping up to 1300m. STOLEN KISS covered ground in a Group 3 race in Adelaide after hitting the line strongly first up at Sale. SCARY and DAGGERS are among a number of debutants to jump out well, as have ENTRUSTING, HURRICANE GEORGE and HERE I COME. Selections: 2,14,8,5 Suggested Bet: Athanatos to win Race 3 QUEEN STARLIGHT will strip fitter for an encouraging return behind superior wet tracker and won second up in her first prep. I CHOOSE YOU has plenty of weight even after the claim but she’s fit and consistent. SMART LITTLE MISS has trialled well for the new stable and is a previous first up winner. ROCKABILLY REBEL won an easier race in good style first up and should appreciate stepping up to 1200m. Selections: 2,1,9,5 Suggested Bet: Queen Starlight each way Race 4 GRETA MOON is a previous first up winner, she resumes from a bleeding attack and has been trialling in great style. SHE’S PRETTY RICH is fit, consistent and drops in grade. LUIJZIKA has upside and has jumped out ok to resume. RICK’S CAFE held her ground in a stronger race first up and get winkers back on. ROYAL INVADER backs up and had excuses last week. Selections: 2,5,7,1 Suggested Bet: Greta Moon each way Race 5 KODIAK BEAR is a lightly race stayer with plenty of upside and he’ll strip fitter for a brave run in a stronger race second up. MOGADISHU is racing well and gets some weight relief with the claim. PRIVILEGED SON is another racing in good form and also get the benefit of a claim. FAM GORMAN worked through the line well last time and Star Vega enhanced that form at Flemington last weekend. Selections: 5,11,4,3 Suggested Bet: Kodiak Bear to win Race 6 FRETTA ran well despite being easy in the market first up and is sure to strip fitter. ALCABEEL has been good at his two runs to date and will make his own luck. MORRYL MORAL will strip fitter third up and has been given a solid grounding to step up to 1600m. STARIANNE and AMPHACTOR have claims. Selections: 3,10,4,9 Suggested Bet: Fretta to win Race 7 HOLLY LOLLY and CHEVAL CHIC come through the same race, there wasn’t much between them on that occasion and both look leading hopes again. AMIGO should be approaching his top third up and the prospect of an improving track enhances his chances. TOFF CHOICE will strip fitter for an encouraging return but is better suited if the track remains in the soft range. Selections: 10,9,11,6 Suggested Bet: Holly Lolly each way Race 8 VARANE was luckless last start and looks suited stepping back up to 1300m. TUMBLING will be at peak fitness now and also gives the impression this trip will suit. SKIPJACK is lightly raced three year old with upside and was beaten by a promising galloper first up. SHYLEAH and EXTREME THREAT are among the other winning hopes in an even race. Selections: 2,3,9,12 Suggested Bet: Varane each way Market Market
