Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on August 6, 2024August 6, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 SKY DUKE was run down in the shadows at Bunbury first-up and considering that Bonnie Lad came out on the weekend and picked up a 60+ Graduation that form reads up very well now. Second-up Bradley Parnham jumps on, he maps to get an uncontested lead and he looks hard to run down. CAPITAL FLIGHT has raced in higher grade at his last 20 outings, dating back to December 2020. Excellent placement and use of the 3kg claim. He can win. MAGNUM CLASS tracks the speed and takes the cutaway. MIA GUSTO goes super fresh. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – SKY DUKE WIN RACE 2 BONDI BAY was stiff not to win first-up when held up at a crucial stage and then made amends last Thursday when bolting in on a Heavy8 at Pinjarra over 1300m. He rises up 3kg to 60kg however there’s only 3kg top to bottom in this highly compressed weight scale and he only carries 1kg more than the unraced geldings. Looks a perfect opportunity to make it two wins in 6 days. LINE OF THOUGHT raced last Wednesday when running third behind Another Love and Gi Gi Pops. Expect that form to hold up well over the coming weeks. MASTERLY tried hard in a Saturday race on debut. VENUS KING impressed at trials. Numbers: 1 – 9 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – BONDI BAY WIN RACE 3 ON THE MARK has been a tease for punters over his short career to date. He is the kind of horse who seems to find bad luck if it’s there to be found and continues to drawn awkwardly but given he sat three deep the trip outside the speed in a Saturday 3 year old 62+ (and went straight past Kraken Time) it’s hard not to follow up with him yet again. ALL VITAL enjoys a soft run and if the cutaway zone is anything like last Wednesday he’s a legitimate threat. DRINKS ON ME has trialled well on two occasions for his new trainer. Keep safe. WEST MASSIV ran a ripper first-up over 1600m. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – ON THE MARK WIN RACE 4 CHER has found a really winnable race at her third outing for MJP Racing. First-up without a trial she raced down the 1000m straight in a 3 year old 0MWLY and ran into subsequent winner Made In Mexico. Dropping back into a C1 and finding a race without much tempo and pressure she looks like parking right on top of the speed and looks the one to beat. AROOCHACHA trialled super for his new trainer and has shown glimpses of ability in previous campaigns. UUKHAI comes back in distance and back in grade. NEW EXPRESSION has done nothing wrong. Numbers: 6 – 5 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – CHER WIN RACE 5 NOD AND SMILE has blinkers added (for a third time) but more importantly has Bradley Parnham booked to ride. His only win – B. Parnham, his only two minor placings – B.Parnham. The pair clearly get along well and he has been finding the line strongly at each start this campaign. On the 7 day spin, back into a C1 from a 0MWLY and looks his best chance yet to win another race. MR TALENTINO also sneaks back into a C1 and from the inside draw gets every chance. MIRO has never been to a C1 and gives every indication he’ll stay. DARK LOOKS should have finished closer last week. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – NOD AND SMILE WIN RACE 6 ONE PUNCH ran out of his skin first-up when splitting subsequent winner Deferred and subsequent 66+ runner-up Silver Eye and then looked the winner last start before peaking on the run and fading back into third beaten under a length. Gets 2kg weight relief, draws to enjoy all the favours and looks a horse on the rise. MAJOR MARIO really caught the eye fresh. He was beaten 4L but was completely unsuited over 1000m and only got going in his last 100. BANKS AVENUE took full advantage of the Heavy track conditions last start and won well. ROYAL GAP was massive in that same race at big odds. Numbers: 6 – 4 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – ONE PUNCH WIN RACE 7 JAZ SESSION was excellent last start as one of the very few horses to make any ground along the inner part of the track. Was a meeting where they were all getting out wide and she held her own into second behind subsequent winner and undefeated mare Toropa as the horse closest to the inside. Race without much speed and expect she’ll look to use that to her advantage. SOSO LUCKY could not have been more impressive on debut. Steps straight into a C3 but looks to have plenty of raw ability. MEMORY PARADE is brilliantly placed back into a C3. Her first two runs have both been solid in better races than this. DIRTY CHAI has returned well. Numbers: 6 – 10 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – JAZ SESSION EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,5,6 1,5,6,7 2,4,6 2,6,9,10 Market Market
