Warren Huntly’s Saturday Moonee Valley Preview Posted on March 22, 2024March 22, 2024 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 MARQUESS was tightened up late when well supported last time and looks set for a good run on speed. ARISTONUS worked home nicely behind a smart one last start and should appreciate the rise in distance. MAGNASPIN comes though the same race, he gets winkers back on and is capable of improving. FLOSSING was well placed to score in Adelaide first up and brings a handy second up record. Selections: 1,5,4,2 Suggested Bet: Marquess to win Race 2 GROWING EMPIRE has been trialling impressively with blinkers applied after being wayward late on debut. SPYWIRE contributed to a strong speed in the Blue Diamond, he’s jumped out in typically sharp style since and appears to have come through that run ok. HARPALEE quickened nicely to win an easier race first up and is open to further improvement. DANCING STRORM is going well in SA and the stable have a great record in identifying the right races to target in Vic. Selections: 5,1,7,2 Suggested Bet: Growing Empire to win Race 3 STRAWBERRY ROCK has been given a steady grounding to rise to this trip and should prove hard to beat. AKROTIRI has the benefit of a run over this distance, he’s showing staying promise and can make his own luck. ANGEL OF LIGHT chased bravely behind YARRAWONGA last time and has a case. Yarrawonga was noted as potentially not handling this circuit last start butt gets a tongue tie and a change of rider. SON OF SOLLY and JENNIVAMOOSE have claims. Selections: 1,5,9,7 Suggested Bet: Strawberry Rock to win Race 4 Competitive race. REGAL AZMON had no luck first up when he looked to have plenty to offer. BELLE PLAISIR ran well first up off a lengthy break, her second up record isn’t flattering but she’s been given three weeks between runs. REO worked through the line strongly first up and may settle closer from a favourable draw. HE’LL RIP gets blinkers back on, he’s a winner here and will be at peak fitness. Selections: 10,1,9,15 Suggested Bet: Regal Azmon each way Same Race Multi: Regal Azmon (Top 2) + Belle Plaisir (Top 4) Race 5 CAMPIONESSA got the right run last time but comes back against her own sex and seems versatile in the 1600m-2000m range. WISHLOR LASS was below market expectations first up but will strip fitter and the form around her is strong. ROLL ON HIGH will settle close to last but has plenty of upside and will be charging late. ETERNAL FLAME and LEGACIES are in the mix. Selections: 1,2,9,7 Suggested Bet: Playing multiples with 1,2 & 9 Race 6 MOLLYNICKERS looks hard to beat, she missed a run at a vital stage last start and ran well at her only start here. VIVY AIR was also luckless last start and will appreciate stepping up to 1600m. CERTAINLY is building an impressive record in NZ, she’s been favourite at most of her starts and worked home strongly to win a Group 3 last time. GRINZINGER BELLE didn’t fire from the wide draw second up after an impressive first up win, she gets blinkers on from a low draw and is capable of improving. Selections: 4,6,2,1 Suggested Bet: Mollynickers to win Race 7 BASILINNA will relish the step up to 2040m after her eye-catching run over 1600m second up. QUINTESSA closed off well in the Australian Guineas and gives the impression she’ll cope with this trip. APULIA also closed of strongly in the Australian Guineas and won the Group 2 Vase here at his only start over this course and distance. VERDAD is another that is looking for this trip now. SNOW PATOL was below his best last start after defeating the Australian Guineas winner first up and capable of improving. Selections: 13,12,1,4 Suggested Bet: Basilinna each way Race 8 As long as the track is playing fairly IMPERATRIZ stands out. She’ll love getting back to Moonee Valley and reverting back to WFA conditions. BELLA NIPOTINA also races well here and maps for a good run. I AM ME has trialled in typically sharp style, she was no match for Imperatriz here in the spring but is likely to settle with a tactical advantage. CYLINDER had the weight and track pattern in his favour in the Newmarket but won with authority. Selections: 5,6,7,10 Suggested Bet: Imperatriz to win Race 9 Deep race. INHIBITIONS chased well down the straight first up over 1100m, she races well here and will appreciate stepping up to 1200m. LAZZAGO has the wide draw to contend and needs to bounce back from a disappointing run second up but her run behind Estriella first up reads well. ISTHMUS takes another rise in grade but appears to have developed nicely during her break and is open to further improvement. MOESHA will needs some luck from the draw but gets blinkers on and was strong late last time over 1100m. Selections: 6,2,13,14 Suggested Bet: Inhibitions each way Race 10 IS IT ME is generally effective fresh and improved his racing manners significantly last prep. PAPILLON CLUB has jumped out well to resume, most recently behind the flying Pride of Jenni. EXTATWO has been kept fresh since a good win here in easier company and has upside. GRAND IMPACT is the query runner resuming from an injury enforced layoff with front bar plates on. He looked highly promising early in his career and his trials/jumpouts have been ok. Selections: 10,8,15,2 Suggested Bet: Is It Me each way Market Market
