Scott Embry’s Wednesday Bunbury Preview Posted on February 27, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 WICKED VENOM trialled well and won on debut over 1000 at Northam back in October before heading to a C1 when finishing runner-up and directly to a Placid Ark Stakes thereafter. Recent trial at Belmont was impressive behind Ultimate Commander and in the small field Jordy Turner should be able to keep him out of trouble and go very close. IF I DIN HAVADIME looms as the obvious threat and after the claim for Cassey Martinan only has 55.5kg on her back which is half a kilo more than she carried in a 3 year old Plate last start behind subsequent winer Tycoon Harry. Big respect. SAILORALONG is jump and run. SPECIAL STREET next best. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – WICKED VENOM WIN RACE 2 ALL VITAL ran a ripper on debut up the 1000m straight at Pinjarra on a Soft7 and then was spelled. Again only had a one run preparation when sixth at Ascot beaten under 2.5L by King’s Parade who has gone on to win on a Saturday. Recent trial was soft and from the draw Jason Whiting will have him tucked away in behind the speed. Nice race for him. THINK OF GOD has X-Factor. Punters will long remember the barrier trial leading into her debut when plunged in betting. SPEEDY NOVA has had a month between runs and from barrier 1 should be able to kick through and lead. RUSTIC ROSE continues to race well without winning. Numbers: 3 – 11 – 9 – 8 Suggested Bet – ALL VITAL EACHWAY RACE 3 SIMPLY put the writing on the wall last week behind Hero Hunter with a big L600. He is screaming out for further and gets exactly that here, a weak 2000m maiden. If he’s going to progress onto races like the Melvista Stakes (2200) and WATC Derby (2400) then he really should be beating the older horses in this. WHAT SHOUT (and Psychic Session) always guarantees that they turn into genuine staying tests. She likes to roll and she’ll look to pinch it at some stage in running. AGRABAH has a senior on and has found the line well at both runs for Steph Bakranich. IT’S A BREEZE looks a one paced staying type. Numbers: 7 – 10 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – SIMPLY WIN RACE 4 AUSPICIOUS will divide opinions. Many will take the view that she hasn’t come back as a 3 year old and/or won’t carry 59.5kg, and others will take the view that she’s the best filly in the race and with a set of shades on and a senior she might just be too slick and classy for them. Interesting to see which view the marketplace takes and whether she’s firm late or easy late. Going to give her another go. CESSATION looks the winner if Auspicious doesn’t turn up again. No doubt there will be plenty willing to take the price about her to find out. Fighting effort on debut up the straight. MRS KANGAROO tries hard. MY LOVELY PET held his own behind three talented 3 year olds last start. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 10 – 2 Suggested Bet – AUSPICIOUS WIN RACE 5 PAPAVERO PRINCESS is going from strength to strength and looks to have found another winnable race on the 7 day spin as she looks to put together three wins in the month of February. Michael Poy is riding her with confidence and she’s getting better and better with racing. Impossible to knock the way she’s progressing through her grades. TERRATIF rises 1.5kg on last start but does come back 100m which might be to her liking. Just drawn a little sticky outside Papavero Princess. Not an easy steer. SCORPION RULER is versatile, they can ride her forward or rearward. Nice return to racing. KISS A PRINCESS was a different horse with shades on last start. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – PAPAVERO PRINCESS WIN RACE 6 THE GREAT HOYA beat home key rival Banks Avenue in the Our Nemesis/Bleecker Street race last start. That was his first crack at 1400m and he only faded out late. Like the way he kept fighting in the finish and like Brad Parnham’s engagement here. Should be there for a long way. BANK AVENUE has been building towards another win. Got to the line well in a leader dominated affair three back, held his own alongside The Great Hoya two back and then was again impressive late behind highly progressive filly Own The Queen last Wednesday. HEMLOCK STONE is first-up and can sprint well fresh. CRUNCHY NUT improves second-up. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – THE GREAT HOYA EACHWAY RACE 7 DIVINE PAIR hadn’t won in an eternity going into his first-up run but he gobbled them up with ease. Should land in an almost identical spot in running here second-up and it’s amazing how often these types come out and win back to back races after spending so much time out of the winner’s enclosure. BOOTS LIKE BRUCE is first-up, no trial and can kick through to hold a spot along the inside. His best is more than good enough to give this a shake. INVICTUS DOMINI finds a new home with Summer Dickson. She’s a genius with these older tried types with issues and the horse has huge levels of raw ability. ULTIMATE COMMAND trialled well without blinkers and can come out running to find a spot. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – DIVINE PAIR WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,5 2,3 1,2,3,4,5,7 2,3,4,5,7,8 Market Market
