Scott Embry’s Sunday Bunbury Preview Posted on January 20, 2024January 20, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 HOT NOVA should be able to get across from the wide draw and at worst sit outside of Miss Esprit. If she can get to the breeze, or even march onto the top she’ll take running down. Comes through a handy form reference race behind Siberian Siren at her return to racing. LADY TREMAINE won her 400m jump out leading into her debut as a 3 year old on a Saturday when 6L off the speedy Krysanova and Wiley Girl. Recent 950m trial at Lark Hill was excellent when winning by over 1.5L and Miss Boudica who ran second in that trial ran a cheeky race first-up. SENSESSIONAL ran third behind Cosmic Crusader on debut when backed from double figures into $4. Was beaten narrowly and it’s hard to argue that Cosmic Crusader has well and truly franked that form since. MISS ESPIT ran third first-up behind Hit The Jackpot and On A Winning Day. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – HOT NOVA WIN RACE 2 PRINCE OF SANTOS is ready to win. On debut was a fast finishing 4L off Justabittapress and Play Dice. At start number two swept to the front before being gunned down by impressive filly Premium Girl and most recently comes through a fast run and high rating maiden behind Our Rocky Bay. This looks clearly his best chance yet at breaking through. EXTREME LOVE loomed up like she had them covered last start and just maybe peaked in the final 50m when eventually being out bobbed into third placing. She’s hard to beat with extra fitness on her side. SEVEN IRON was scratched on Wednesday at Pinjarra to save for this. Great effort on debut behind Hymns Of Eladdair and recent trial was strong. MISS BOUDICA ran a ripper on debut. Numbers: 2 – 10 – 3 – 11 Suggested Bet – PRINCE OF SANTOS WIN RACE 3 AUDIO BOY was enormous last start. He drew barrier 10 of 12, sat three and four deep early before making a sustained run around them to the breeze. Had the audacity to keep on fighting over the concluding stages and now from a far better barrier with W.Pike taking over he looks hard to beat. This is not a deep race and he looks like he’s got some ability. STAR PROPHET trialled and raced like he wanted at least a mile. Thinking that he can come on quickly second-up with more ground. ONLY US is an enigma. Big effort off a 24 hour back-up two starts ago. Showed zero last start. DANEA ROCK got held up in the home straight from barrier 1 last start but found the line okay once getting clear. Numbers: 5 – 7 – 4 – 11 Suggested Bet – AUDIO BOY WIN RACE 4 WOLFMAN went to a C1 two starts ago and finished third behind New Music and The Rush. Then dropped back into a maiden, was hammered in betting at the shorts and jumped $1.45 after opening in black figures. Loomed large on straightening but couldn’t quite get the leader who kicked hard into the corner. Racing like 2000m will suit and many of thse have had their chance. CHOIXRISKA is only having his fourth start in his life and gets out to 2000m. He savaged the line behind Prophet and Power last start and with the senior rider on can be expected to go well. OLLIE’S BARREL looks like he’s needing every inch of the staying trip. REWARDING ARTIE is trying hard. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – WOLFMAN WIN RACE 5 CERRIDWYN looks extremely well placed by Michael Lane. Won a C3 first-up over 1200m when backed as if unbeatable and then went to a 60+ Graduation when only finishing 1.2L off Cable Boy and Costazita (and that’s even with the interference she copped in the concluding stages). Back into a C3, drawn well to get a soft run midfield and carries the exact same weight as she did first-up when winning in this grade after the claim for Luke Campbell. Great race for her. ROMMEL’S ANGEL let rip with a big turn of acceleration last start when going straight past Sentimental Belle. SHEZGOTTHALOT got back and hit the line alright behind The Lady Is A Vamp who has franked the form since. DAZZLING DANE was brilliantly placed first-up at Narrogin and got the job done in style. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 5 – 4 Suggested Bet – CERRIDYWN WIN RACE 6 RED INFERNO won first-up after over 500 days away from the races at Mt Barker. Easy to question what he beat in that field but Morgs Freeman did come out and win a 58+ at Albany last Sunday and Red Inferno won in style. Accepted for Saturday and Sunday as the yard make their mind up on where to run her. MAGNUM CLASS sat up close handy last start and was too good for talented chaser Dreamers Never Die. See no reason why he won’t be able to take the step into a 0MWLY off the back of that performance. SIMPLY ROSSO is in a rich vein of form having won back to back races in a C2 at Albany and then in a C3 at Bunbury. Hard to knock but the gate may dent his chances. RENATO is better than what he produced first-up. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 4 – 7 Suggested Bet – RED INFERNO WIN RACE 7 ELBOW LOUNGE was accepted for Thursday at Narrogin but Bruce Watkins has elected to come to Bunbury instead. From barrier 1 he will do no work in the run and he held his own last start behind talented colt Snippy Which. Looks an improving type. TERRATIFF showed huge potential as a juvenile and then was a dominant maiden winner at her return to racing. Think she’s got gears and is the kind of filly that can work her way through the lower classes pretty quickly. Just needs to find the right back to follow from barrier 13 of 14. PLAY DICE was given no peace last start when she copped pressure throughout before fading late. Nice filly in the making. KING’S SICARIO needs conditions to allow them to make ground. Numbers: 2 – 9 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – ELBOW LOUNGE WIN RACE 8 SILVER EYE found 1000m too sharp first-up. Appreciated the step to 1200m second-up when winning a 3 year old 0MWLY and now takes on the older horses in a C3. Looks like an ideal stepping stone as he progresses through the grades and think that he can settle midfield and run over them with a clear passage. OUR NEMESIS went forward last start and was ridden like the best horse in the race. He skipped right away from them in the home straight and won soft by over 1L. He’s versatile and is just as good with cover as he was last start from the front. Gives Jade McNaught options and he’s more than capable of measuring up in a C3. THEHORSEMAN sat three deep the trip to win last start. Might have to again here. AFTER PARTY has a horror draw but is going well. Numbers: 8 – 4 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – SILVER EYE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,3 1,2,4,5,6,7,10 2,8,9 4,8 Market Market
