Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on May 11, 2022May 12, 2022 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 KARALEE ROCKS has given the impression at trials that she has a motor. Winner of her last two 1000m trials and each of them as impressive as the other. She’s unlikely to be missed by the market but she should settle over the speed and take beating on debut. Think this is a lovely place for her to kick off her career. SEEABLE is the first ride back for Chris Graham after a serious injury. Always great to see riders returning and Seeable showed ability in his first preparation. The colt can do a bit wrong but like the fact he’s coming into this without a trial. PROMISED BRIDE ran well on debut behind Men’s Club and we’ll get a sighter into that form on Wednesday. THE BIG ONE might take a bit of time but think he has a level of ability. Numbers: 10 – 1 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – KARALEE ROCKS WIN RACE 2 MAGIC WHISTLE hit the line well fresh in a 3 year old 0MWLY behind My Marlaina and then got a long, long way off them second-up at Ascot behind True Moon. Was the target of big money throughout betting last start but only plugged to the line. Blinkers are swapped for winkers, Lucy Warwick picks up the ride and think he’s worth another go. DELTA ANNE is the way that Joey Azzopardi goes and you can understand why. This filly hasn’t run a bad race all preparation and should get a gun run from the draw. ATABOY CHARLIE was a forgive last start. The effort prior was strong. Ready to win. ARTIENNE can lead or box seat from the draw. Numbers: 2 – 8 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – MAGIC WHISTLE EACHWAY RACE 3 CISCOJOE matched motors with Hola Marea for the entire straight last start at Northam on opening day. Think Hola Marea will likely feature in the nominations for a 3 year old 1400m on Saturday at Belmont Park and think that will be a nice form race going forward. Has been a work in progress but Ciscojoe is finally ready. Pat Carbery in wonderful form and from the gate he’ll just need a split at some stage. BIGSPIDER hit the line really well at trials and was never really asked for an effort. On debut at 1400m and looks like he’ll get out over ground. Like the look of him. WHAT A PRINCE can roll to the top and control the speed. Good effort at his WA debut. FRUIT LOOPS has been excellent at his last two. He’s drawn a gate to settle much closer than last start. Numbers: 4 – 9 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – CISCOJOE WIN RACE 4 CHEDDAR BOB trialled like a horse who would be winning fresh. Sue Olive gets them going early in their campaigns and with a set of shades on we’re hopeful of seeing a bigger and better horse this time in. Comes across, sits off Honey Dew and should give backers a good sight. YOU CAN TELL ME was plunged on debut at Geraldton but proved no match for Dream To Me. Dream To Me heads to a C1 1000 down the straight at Pinjarra on Wednesday and we’ll see just how good she is. Hopefully she goes well and that proves a stronger than average Geraldton maiden form reference. HONEY DEW was backed off the boards at her WA debut. Got tired late but did absorb some pressure early. LUCKY FOO FOO is still doing a lot wrong. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 10 – 12 Suggested Bet – CHEDDAR BOB WIN RACE 5 BLAZING TYCOON can be hard to catch and can find bad luck in his races but his effort last start was super. He finished third behind Speed Dream and Dunbar who had both come from the winner producing form reference race behind Sniparoochy. From barrier 1 he will track up in behind and he probably has claims on the best turn of foot in this field. NO APOLOGY will likely divide opinions to an extent. Hasn’t seen a C5 for a long while and goes well fresh, but the 1100m is on the short side for him. Watch the market. PASAJERO is going well and is very versatile. SPIRIT AND FIRE could get out to a big price late and if he finds the front, he could be a different horse. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – BLAZING TYCOON WIN RACE 6 SKETTA is a nice C3 mare. She has finished second to All Day Session (beating home Brooklyn Pier) and finished fourth behind Jedi Mind and All Day Session in 3 year old company only last July. First-up in this grade finished second to Kohli and drops in weight second up for an in form Safari Dyson. Gets the right run and should be there abouts. EDMOND comes out of Geraldton racing but he did lump 62kg last start and sustained a run from a long way out. SAFFIANO will find a race in WA and it is likely to be when he can find the front and roll. ADVANCED makes his Michael Grantham debut off the back of two solid trials. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – SKETTA WIN RACE 7 THERE’S A THOUGHT doesn’t win out of turn but this 50+ type of race looks the grade for her. She’s always there abouts and when she shows up she can reel off a solid L600. There looks to be a three deep line building here and she can join it and chime in late at odds. TAXI is about ready to show his best and he seems to go lengths better for Lucy Warwick. Keep safe. REGAL CITY was disappointing last start. He’s a quirky horse who will punt in a shocker from time to time. ADMIRED will get back and be one of those looking to swoop late. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – THERE’S A THOUGHT EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 3,8,10 1,4,7,8 1,3,4,5,7 1,2,5,6,7,8 Market Market
