Deane Lester’s Pakenham Best Bets Posted on December 3, 2021December 3, 2021 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 1 NO.3 HIGH ‘N’ DRY HIGH ‘N’DRY is ready to peak at his third run this campaign and represents the best value of the day when he contests the Benchmark 70 Handicap (1600m). The seven year old ran a solid first-up 2nd behind MAYBE THE BEST over 1300 metres at Bendigo on October 27. At his last start, he was disadvantaged by a wet track and the tight Cranbourne circuit but still ran a brave 4th behind CAMBOURNE over 1300 metres at Cranbourne on November 13. He now gets to his best distance on the spacious Pakenham circuit and the likelihood of a dry track only enhances his prospects. He gets the benefit of Matthew Cartwright’s 2kg claim and looks a great each way chance. RACE 8 NO.1 YULONG JANUARY YULONG JANUARY kicks off his summer campaign when he tackles the VOBIS Gold Bullion (1400m) and appeals as the standout bet of the day. A winner of this race in 2019, the six year old has won 7 of his fourteen runs at this distance and looks to have a clear class edge on his rivals in this race. He has a great racing style in that he races on the pace and has a great determination at the end of his races. Elite rider Jye McNeil has enjoyed good success aboard YULONG JANUARY who looks ideally placed to record his 10th career victory. RACE 9 NO.5 KISSINGER KISSINGER has been racing in good form of late and looks well overdue for another win which he looks well poised to achieve when he runs in the Benchmark 78 Handicap (2000m).The six year old hit the line solidly when finishing 2nd behind TURBEAU in the Ballan Cup (1500m) at Geelong on November 6. At his last start, he found significant interference in the run yet still finished a close-up 5th behind dead-heaters JUST BENJAMIN and SILENT SOVEREIGN in the BM 84 Handicap (2000m). He drops in grade, appears drawn for a good run and represents one of the better bets of the day. Market Market
