OUR LONE STAR should be improved by one run back from a spell and looks a strong winning chance when he contests The Shooting Star (1500m). The four year old ran a solid first-up third behind MAYBE THE BEST over 1300 metres at Bendigo on October 27 and will appreciate the extra distance of this race. He was a Flemington winner over 1700 metres so he is well graded under the conditions of this race. Talented apprentice Teodore Nugent knows the horse well and again takes the ride aboard OUR LONE STAR who represents one of the better bets of the day.

RACE 5 NO.6 APRIL RAIN

APRIL RAIN appeared to be one of the biggest hard luck stories of Melbourne Cup week that can make amends when he tackles the Rosemont Pendant (1400m). The Chris Waller trained mare was full of running but ran into a dead end when finishing a luckless 9th behind RICH HIPS in the HKJC Club Stakes (1400m). The lightly raced five year old looks well placed in this company and gets the services of elite rider Damian Lane. She’s a good talent that looks the standout bet of the day.

RACE 6 NO.2 DEXELATION

DEXELATION has returned to racing in stunning form and looks well placed to record a hat trick of wins when he runs in the Apache Cat Classic (1000m). The seven year old powered home from midfield to win over 1000 metres at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate day in what should prove a solid form reference for this race. This looks another high pressure race which suits DEXELATION’S racing style and the Adelaide raider is poised to continue on his winning way.
