Scott Embry’s Sunday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on July 23, 2021July 23, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 KELLY’S HERO was a tough watch for owner, breeders Joe & Chris Kelly when he was held up repeatedly in the home straight before going through the line untested and climbing all over the back of First Moment and Military Beat. Writing on the wall job and with clear galloping room gets the chance to break through. KELLY’S LASSIE gives them an insurance policy and an opportunity to secure a rare non Cerise & White breeding quinella. No weight on the back and coming from a metro 2 year old race into a Kalgoorlie maiden. BIG BREAK was a late scratching last start, prior to that at his KBRC debut was a plunge horse. LITTLE SES gets a nice run from the draw. Numbers: 5 – 11 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – KELLY’S HERO WIN RACE 2 EGG WHITE finds a new home with Adam Durrant and it’s hard to ignore the two recent trials. Won a 950m trial and an 1100m trial, both in fairly comfortable fashion. Showed speed on both occasions and if Victoria Corver can find the front then she can take luck out of the equation. In the words of Tim Paris, he could prove ‘hard to beat’. HOOTIE DA BLOWFISH brings alternate 2 year old Belmont form. Has speed and can come out running. SOUTHSTAR has run well at both starts this preparation but the draw hurts. MILITARY BEAT similarly – going well but the barrier is no help. Numbers: 3 – 11 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – EGG WHITE WIN RACE 3 BRIGHT GLOW has returned to racing in great order for Cambana Lodge and MR Peter Fernie. The former Yulong horse has put together back to back eye catchers with a third behind Johnny Angel (60+ Graduation placed since) and a luckless second when splitting Herron Sand and Sweet Strawberry. Stays in Class 2 company, King of Kalgoorlie Mitchell Pateman back into the saddle – gets his chance. IRON SHARP set the alight last start and was only fading late in the race. Back to 1200m looks a positive. GOODBYEFEDS looks to have come back a bigger and better horse after a spell. APACHE PATROL may well be staying in Kalgoorlie after a moderate set of trials and first-up performance. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – BRIGHT GLOW WIN RACE 4 SHAPE SHIFTER heads up to the Freddo Brown yard and hopefully he can do with her what he did with Iron Sharp earlier in the season and revitalise the galloper. Resumed at Pinjarra down the 1000m straight without a trial and was chasing throughout on the Heavy surface and never looked comfortable. Best form is on top of the ground and best form is when leading. Expecting a bold sharp improvement. STAR PRESENT brought intrigue at her WA debut after having four runs in Hong Kong. Won her maiden well and looks like she’ll take beating again. KENNY THE KING was stiff not to score last start after finding some traffic issues in the home straight. WUNDERKIND is going well and should get a nice run from the barrier. Numbers: 3 – 8 – 7 – 10 Suggested Bet – SHAPE SHIFTER WIN RACE 5 SWEET STRAWBERRY resumed without a trial with 62kg and did a super job to finish within a length of Herron Sand and Bright Glow after being held up until the 100 and still showing a sharp turn of foot with the weight. Kept out of trouble from the barrier she looks hard to hold out late. PASTRY has been going well this preparation and looks ready to win. Last start stepped to 1300m, sat over the top of the speed and was swamped late by Black Comet, Dalswinton and Blazing Tycoon. Looks the right form and drops back to 1100m where she is yet to miss the top 2 at Kalgoorlie. EXCERPT looks a different horse in the provincial/country area than in town. Win at Kalgoorlie two starts ago was excellent. HERRON SAND got Justin Thomas’ season off the mark and has always looked a mare who could go through the grades. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – SWEET STRAWBERRY WIN RACE 6 MANHATTAN MONEY won impressively in this grade two starts ago with 58.5kg when gunning them down late and showing the powerful turn of foot that she can display on her day. Last start she was caught back in the field in a moderately run race where she was unable to pick them up. Lost no admirers due to the race pattern and here with some new additions to the race she drops back to 58.5kg staying in the same grade. PEARLS AND PRAWNS has always shown glimpses of brilliance and is very well suited to racing in these c70+ type of races. Hard to beat again the way she won first-up. MR GENOA is always a winning chance with the right run in Kalgoorlie regardless of distance and barrier. SHARPBOB has been a great pick up for Peter Fernie and is going super. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 9 Suggested Bet – MANHATTAN MONEY WIN RACE 7 GLUTEN FREE was a touch unlucky two starts ago behind Major Mambo and Dalgaranga and then last start split talented 3 year old Durrant 3 year old Sunsphere and Dalgaranga. Peter Fernie has a number of horses engaged in this race and the riding duties fall to Joey Azzopardi. From the barrier should be able to come across and find the breeze and from there can give a big eachway sight. DALSWINTON has been building towards a WA victory and this preparation has done nothing but impress. Getting very close. BLAZING TYCOON finished third behind Black Comet and Dalswinton and that form will be on show on Saturday at Belmont. DALGARANGA is a 1400m specialist and another live chance in a wide open race. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – GLUTEN FREE EACHWAY RACE 8 READY TO RIDE looks ready to win. Won a C1 1300m at Kalgoorlie when leading throughout to destroy rivals and win soft by over 3L. Stepped into a C2 a fortnight later and couldn’t find the front and didn’t quite look the same horse when finishing fourth. Last start again stepped up in grade and distance when finshing a solid third behind genuine Saturday type Mr Delegator (already a 60+ Graduation winner) and Run D’Affair Run who goes round at Belmont Saturday. Back to Kal, back to C2 and can lead them up again. COCKY ED is capable of letting down strongly with the right run. Engagement of Mitchell Pateman catches the eye. GALAHS DO ROAR stormed past One For The Road last start to an impressive win. ONE FOR THE ROAD needs to overcome a horror draw. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – READY TO RIDE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,4,5,6,7,8,101,2,41,2,5,7,81,4 Market Market
