Deane Lester’s Caulfield Best Bets Posted on May 28, 2021May 28, 2021 | Posted by Deane Lester RACE 1 NO.4 SET THE SAILS SET THE SAILS can make amends for a luckless debut performance by winning the 2YO Handicap (1200m). The Mick Price/ Michael Kent Junior trained colt was badly held up yet reeled off the best sectional times of the day when finishing 2nd behind MURRAMI EXPRESS over 1225 metres at Geelong on May 14. The son of More Than Ready will be improved by that raceday experience, gets the services of champion rider Damien Oliver and looks to have more upside than his rivals. Whilst he will start the shortest favourite of the day at Caulfield, SET THE SAILS appeals as one of the best bets of the day. RACE 2 NO.9 CONTINUANCE Champion trainer Lindsey Smith has talented filly CONTINUANCE in good form and she looks a terrific each way chance when she contests the 3YO Fillies Benchmark 78 Handicap (1100m). The daughter of Delago Deluxe scored a solid first-up win over 1000 metres at the Warrnambool carnival before a last start third with 61.5kg behind TWIST OF FURY over 1000 metres at Ballarat on May 19. She will relish a step up in distance, drops 6.5kg on her last run and the likelihood of a fast pace in this race should see CONTINUANCE steaming home at good odds. RACE 6 NO.1 ANOTHER DOLLAR ANOTHER DOLLAR should now be at peak fitness when three runs under her belt for the Peter Moody stable and looks a great winning chance when she runs in the Open Handicap (2000m). The six year old ran a solid 2nd behind YONKERS over 2000 metres at Caulfield two starts back before a last start 5th behind DECLARES WAR over 2000 metres at Flemington on May 15. She raced in the worst part of the track on that occasion and was also burdened with 59.5kg on that occasion. She drops 4kg for this race, gets blinkers reapplied and appears primed for a peak performance in this campaign. Market Market
