Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on September 8, 2020September 8, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry Race 1 INDIGO BLUE was scratched from Saturday to save for this and Mitchell Pateman must have cut his left arm off (useless anyway) to take the ride at 55kg. Trailed impressively behind Chili Is Hot over 1100m before leading throughout in an impressive 950 trial at Lark Hill when effortlessly cruising through her gears. Looks very hard to beat on debut. CAPTAIN BURGLAR has impressed at trials and looks to have come back bigger and better. He’ll stalk and be doing his best late. AZTEC GOLD likely settles in the back half, but all of her trials have got tongues wagging. DARK ASSAULT was plunged first-up but didn’t fire a shot. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 6 – 1 Suggested Bet – INDIGO BLUE WIN Race 2 MIAMI CITY raced greenly on debut and did a fair few things wrong. Race experience should help a lot and this race has a number of winning chances. From the draw he should get the right run and will be eachway. WICKLOW PRINCESS is an 18-start maiden but draws to enjoy the run of the race leader’s back and comes out of a maiden race run 5L faster than average. Always around the mark. SAVAGE ONE trialed well over 950 for a debut at 1400m. Looks like he’ll eat up the ground and chase hard. SHEIKH IT draws to settle prominently and looks capable of giving this a shake. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 11 – 12 Suggested Bet – MIAMI CITY EACHWAY Race 3 BOLSHOI GAL was very good last start when sitting over the top of a solid tempo throughout. Drops from a C3 back into a C1, 1400m back to 1300m and importantly Chris Parnham retains the ride. Just needs an ounce of luck from the draw. NURHACI broke his maiden in style and maps to enjoy an almost identical run in transit. Has come back a far better horse this preparation and see no reason why he can’t make it two on the bounce. REGAL DIVIDEND likely rolls to the top and gets in with no weight. WARZACHANTZ doesn’t have great form to recommend but loved his trial. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 8 – 9 Suggested Bet – BOLSHOI GAL WIN Race 4 GILLESPIE fell in first-up after being given every mortal chance by Chris Parnham. He lead them and absolutely walked them in the middle stages before holding off the late challenge of Eurotrip. Not normally one to tip horses out of slowly run races but he should only get better and better the longer he stays with Michael Lane. ANNIHILATOR comes back to C3 company where he was an emphatic winner only three starts ago. FIERY WATER is thrown in the deep end coming out of a maiden straight into a C3 but won in style over big subsequent winner Enduring Moment. APPROACH is a new horse with Annie King. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – GILLESPIE WIN Race 5 PERCEIVE is as consistent as they come. She is no world beater but maps to get a lovely run just behind a solid tempo. Two starts ago a strong second to Lil Red Bikini and then far from disgraced out of her grade behind Nerodio and Leading Girl. Last time out ran her usual honest race and she should again go close at an eachway quote. PEKO is a newcomer to WA and has only missed the money five times in her 13 outings. Trailed well at Lark Hill when never taken out of first gear and this is good placement into a C3. JAG THE JOKER had to change direction at right angles last time out and is tracking well. EXCELESTIAL gets weight relief and an in-form apprentice. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – PERCEIVE EACHWAY Race 6 GREAT WATERS has run three very good races since returning to the races. First-up was plunged when breaking his maiden, second-up ran into Giant Leap in a high rating C1 and then last week had nothing go right when casting a plate in the prelim and then getting too far out of his ground before running all the best closing sections of the race. Backs up off 7 days and gets out to a staying trip. TICK ALONG only won a lowly maiden last time out but looked like he would eat up the ground. Stayer in the making and unlike Great Waters won’t need luck in running because Pateman will take him to the top. AMERICAN SOUL continues to peak on his run as soon as the whip is drawn. AHYOKA FROST is getting close. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 11 Suggested Bet – GREAT WATERS WIN Race 7 COUNT TOMOZ OFF hasn’t won a race in a long time but he is knocking on the door and could give them something to run down at a big price. Stepped out to 1400m last start and was only run down in the concluding stages finishing fourth behind Lonsdale Lady, Leading Girl and Zero Demerits. COME RIGHT BACK has a real X-Factor to his racing. He runs his races in patches and clearly has no idea what racing is all about but he has a motor. Once the penny drops he’ll be going through the grades. ABBY LANE has gone into the blackbook at almost every run this preparation and this is the most winnable assignment he has seen. ASTRONOMITE backs up and is going well. Numbers: 5 – 3 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – COUNT TOMOZ OFF EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2,3,4,6,7 1,2,4,5,7,8,9 1.4 3,4,5,9,12 Market Market
