Scott Embry’s Saturday Geraldton Preview Posted on May 8, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 EL CARDERO looks like he has found his race. Eighth start this preparation and the blinkers are going back on after only being removed last start. Was beaten 6.5L at his most recent but in a fast run maiden race. This is weak as they get and he gets his chance. ROBYNS SON has had 19 outings in his career but probably few as good of an opportunity as this. NOBEL RIZE draws awkwardly in the outside gate but the first-up run was good. SWIPE IT next best. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – EL CARDERO WIN RACE 2 OLD BAILEY changes stable and has his first start for Ashley Maley. This is a horse coming out of metro maiden racing who trialled the house down when able to control from the top. If Brodie Kirby can clear them from gate 8 he can definitely win. INDISISIVE draws the inside and holds the tactical advantage. Good effort last start. SCENIC CHARM is not racing at her best but has a motor. MUMSTHEONE was the target of big backing at his first start for Gordon Spowart. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – OLD BAILEY WIN RACE 3 CHISANO is drawn a little sticky in gate 9 but Victoria Corver is rapidly emerging as the most promising apprentice in WA. She seems to have a real tactical brain for racing and with even luck she should be in the finish at her Geraldton/Carnarvon debut. ADMIRAL HUSSON draws the outside and really only knows one way. ROCK THE PLANET is very similar, drawn in gate 10 she’ll be running as well. FULLY STOKED should stalk up the fence three back on the paint and that’s a winnable position for him. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – CHISANO WIN RACE 4 CALABRIA JOE has run fourth at his last three but behind talented animals including Pinsson, My Demi, Flying Roar, Trade Talk. This race doesn’t contain any of those names and if he can simply leave the gates cleanly Ben Paterson should get him into a nice position in running and he should prove hard to beat. KHAN gets the luxurious 3kg claim but becoming a frustrating commodity to follow. BLACK DYNAMITE richly deserves a win but he finds bad luck anywhere he goes. NEWMARRACARRA jumps and runs. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – CALABRIA JOE WIN RACE 5 ZIERA is a lightly raced 3 year old filly and the blinkers come off (actually do this time) and from the gate expecting Simome Altieri to take her across and head for the breeze. This is a fairly limited sort of field without a lot of depth and she gets a nice chance to win a second race. GLEN ALBYN can never be discounted in races like this from 1600 to 2000. SEA TRYST is an 11 year old but his last two have been very good and this is a drop in grade. WENDY LYNNE wasn’t a bad return to racing. Numbers: 8 – 3 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – ZIERA WIN RACE 6 RED EPIC, GOLDEN ACRES and ASHBURN look like trio who will fight out the finish here. GOLDEN ACRES has been knocking on the door and is likely to be the roughest of the three main chances. Could be a decent day for Banjo Paterson in the saddle and this looks another legitimate winning chance. RED EPIC is going particularly well and Kate Southam rode him a treat last start. ASHBURN is hard to fault leading from start to finish last two. DANEFIN next best. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – GOLDEN ACRES WIN RACE 7 FOO TROUBLE is fresh here 68 days between runs and looks like firing straight to the top for Simone Altieri and new trainers Kayla/Peter Farrell. Couple of runs earlier this preparation/last preparation were all good and this is a nice assignment. MAKFI AMOUR is another with pace to burn and should get across from the wide alley. POKEMON PETE hasn’t won for a long time but has been racing alright and a new environment makes him an X-Factor runner. BALRANTO is not an easy ride for the apprentice. Horse flying but tough to win from out there. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 11 Suggested Bet – FOO TROUBLE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,4 1,2,3,4,6,8 1,2,3 2,3,4,11,12 Market Market
