Scott Embry’s Saturday Kalgoorlie Preview Posted on October 3, 2019October 4, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 ANNIHILATOR hasn’t been extended in either trial. His efforts as a 2 year old were strong enough to warrant consideration in a weak maiden. He likely rolls forward to sit outside the leader and should give an account of himself. JAG THE JOKER caught the eye at her most recent trial. 5 year old mare on debut without a lot of early speed. MAGIC WILL REIGN should get every chance from the gate but neither trial impressed. FIRST STRIKE scratched from Thursday to save for this. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 8 – 2 Suggested Bet – ANNHILATOR EACHWAY Race 2 CRYPTIC LOVE has been strong all preparation in far deeper races than this. Her 64+ efforts of recent times were excellent and she should enjoy a nice run midfield with cover. From there she should launch a run good enough to win. BADGE OF COURAGE has been around the mark this preparation in c70+ and feature grade. Strong effort in the Kambalda Cup. BELLS TOWER jumps and runs and should be rock hard fit now. STAR GLITTER box seats and has returned well. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 6 Suggested Bet – CRYPTIC LOVE WIN Race 3 MERVYN was very good first-up at Belmont Park when leading them, challenged, headed and fighting back to grab fifth ahead of subsequent Saturday winner Molten. He is arguably better suited at 1100 than 1000 and will bounce straight to the top and control. NIGHT VOYAGE the clear danger who is in form and has a powerful finish on him. Well placed in this and nicely in at the weights after the claim. COUNT TOMOZ OFF is yet to fire this preparation. SENORITA BONITA doesn’t run a bad race on the Goldfields. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – MERVYN WIN Race 4 NEMIROFF was ridden to perfection by Pateman last start. He needs to get rolling at the 800 and utilize his high cruising speed to get rivals chasing. He never gave them a change last start and looks set to run them ragged again. MR GENOA returns to WA for new connections after failing to really live up to hype. Blinkers on first time, Pike on, huge respect. FAIRTRUSIVE won well last start. WATTO’S FURY is ultra-consistent and can run a race on the 2 day back-up if he goes round. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – NEMIROFF WIN Race 5 WAR SECRETS has been a revelation since joining the Cambana Lodge team who have an incredible knack for rejuvenating and improving second hand horses (Pym’s Royale, Regal Counsel, Paradise Square, Senorita Bonita, Gangbuster, Mervyn and the list goes on). His last win was powerful and backed-up by strong sectionals. Drops to 53.5kg here and can make it a hattrick. EXCARO acquitted herself well in the Kambalda after missing the kick slightly and being boxed away. She comes out running and always takes running down. ANOTEHR DEMON looks well placed in this grade. TRUTH AND LIES draws soft and goes round Thursday. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – WAR SECRETS WIN Race 6 REGAL COUNSEL posted four straight victories before stepping up to the mile and after he was a shade slow early was left back in the field tracking a below average tempo. Once the leader’s had him flat footed at the 600 it was over. Back to 1400, back to Kal, he looms large. MIRACLE MAN is impeccably placed by an astute yard. He could have easily gone to the Hannans but they bypass for an easier race. Long time since he has seen 64+ company. CAN HE RULE HER is in form and could be on the quick back-up. SENSE OF POWER should enjoy a soft lead. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – REGAL COUNSEL WIN Race 7 ON THE TURPS has been a hard horse to follow this preparation and is his own worst enemy. If Craig Newitt can get him safely out of the gates then he is right in the mix. He met Paradise Square two starts ago and was as good, if not better. PARADISE SQUARE ran Pym’s Royale to a neck last time out in the Kambalda. That form speaks for itself and he box seats from the gun draw. SMARTY steps up in grade but should lead this field. ICECRUSHER has been running very good races of late. Numbers: 8 – 2 – 9 – 11 Suggested Bet – ON THE TURPS EACHWAY Race 8 IHTSAHYMN brings the dirt form to the grass. Broome 70+, Metric Mile and Darwin Cup winner two months between runs with only a soft 1450 Lark Hill trial in between. This field is not deep and he looks thrown in with only 60 on his back. He just needs an ounce of luck to find a position in running and he’ll be very hard to beat. SPIRITUAL WARRIOR has gone through the grades rapidly this preparation after joining JT Warwick. Races on speed (could even lead) and is rock hard fit. DARK PROSPECT and FIRST AFFAIR are backmarkers who will rattle late. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – IHTSAHYMN WIN Race 9 STOICISM looks the way home at the end of a long Kalgoorlie Cup day. First-up effort was strong in a 64+ mile event which contained Regal Counsel who could well enhance the form earlier in the day. Always goes well first-up and second-up, has tactical speed and drops in grade. Ticks plenty of boxes. STAIRWAYTOTHEMOON comes from a race run 4L above benchmark which has already produced subsequent winners Champagne Gal and Rayarnie. MACAVITY had no luck last start. DECOY NOXIOUS races well in Kalgoorlie. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 13 – 1 Suggested Bet – STOICISM WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 1,2 2,8,9 1,2,4,5,7,8,10 3,5 Market Market
