Scott Embry’s Friday Carnarvon Preview Posted on July 11, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 VITAL BOOM has been building all preparation and looks to have found the perfect race to notch his first dirt victory. Only looks to be one danger so should get every possibility. LUNA ROSSA finally broke through last start at Leonora. More than capable on his day so could go on with it. MIXED GRILL is a 17 start maiden but this race is not deep and can figure. THUG LIFE loomed first-up but didn’t give a yelp second-up. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – VITAL BOOM WIN Race 2 MEGAMIND can lead, can sit, can wind-up. Very versatile, very good. Has finished in the top 2 at 5 of 6 career outings in Carnarvon and if Michelle Vallentine can stay on top of his troublesome feet he’ll win a few more for her. SOUTHERN WARRIOR had three starts in Broome back in 2017 in which he was beaten out of sight, an obvious concern. Esperance form however is definitely strong enough to test Megamind. BOLSHOI BANDIT is building towards another win. GOOD MORNING won well last start and can figure again. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – MEGAMIND WIN Race 3 PATRONISM never crossed last start and was left pulling out on a limb. Jumping from gate 3 and stepping up in trip Southam should find the fence and from there is the one they have to catch. LADY VITAL has reasonable early provincial form for a race like this. No surprise to see her salute, looks the big danger. CARSON DRIVE has been reasonable since arriving in Carnarvon and draws well. THE PAUA FRITTER improved sharply last start. Numbers: 5 – 10 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – PATRONISM WIN Race 4 BEHROOZ is probably the big beneficiary of the most recent abandoned meeting because now he avoids Net Profit. Three big wins in row and should be simply too speedy over the 1000m. The faster the better according to his sectionals. DAM READY will concede him a head start but hits the line. CIAO MISS TURPIN can stalk the speed and run a placing with the right run. CALABRIA JOE carries a big weight which probably sees him undone. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – BEHROOZ WIN Race 5 GERSHOM, RUN FOR A REASON, RIGHTO all look to be within 1 or 2 legnths of each other on recent form. The one who gets the best run in transit likely salutes. Going to side with GERSHOM who gets a 1.5kg weight swing on Run for a Reason from their last meeting. Should position up forward of midfield and go close. RUN FOR A REASON gets off the speed naturally so the wide draw is no concern. RIGHTO has his first start at Carnarvon but looks to be in the mix. ROSA FILENTE won well last start but the others may have her measure at 1200. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 6 – 4 Suggested Bet – GERSHOM WIN Race 6 LADY TALENT has run into Behrooz three times this preparation and now drops into a moderate Class 1 race. Would love to see her spring the gates and lead it but even if she is settled just off them can win. PREMIO MOMENTO could be a different animal if finding the front. Bolted in at Kalgoorlie in its only win and first start in Carnarvon was good enough. STRATUM PASS has her first start for team Hammarquist and is another speedy type. ARGOON did nothing wrong at his first start for Tank Pateman. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – LADY TALENT EACHWAY Race 7 BALMONT STUNNER is drawn awkwardly but has put the writing on the wall at his past two starts. Loves the Carnarvon mile boasting 3 wins from 5 starts and Kate Southam is now sufficiently familiar with him to get him over the line. PORTRAIT LAO never seems to fire fresh but continues to get bigger and better into the preparation. Looks the biggest danger. BOLD VICTORY is an intriguing runner. Three starts ago ran third to Western Pride and Coming Around at Belmont. A repeat of that rating and he wins by panels. PROUD HISTORY improved last start. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – BALMONT STUNNER WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2 1,2,6 1,3,4,7 1,2,4 Market Market
