Scott Embry’s Saturday Belmont Preview Posted on July 11, 2019July 15, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 LAVERROD is a regally bred and expensive yearning who was well commissioned on debut in a race which looked awkward from a map perspective. He did it tough and couldn’t reel in the leaders. Gets a much more economical run here. MIA DOLCE is a little pocket rocket. She continues to race with heart having an amazing 13th start this preparation. Charges across to sit in the breeze at worst. HOOROO LADS trialed well and was out the door on debut before proving the market wrong. Can lead again. IS A BOMBSHELL trialed well with the shades on. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 2 – 9 Suggested Bet – LAVERROD WIN Race 2 ROUTE EIGHTY EIGHT is backing up off 7 days and drops back to her pet distance of 1000m. Her form over the last two months has been ultra consistent and while she will need luck she will be finishing powerfully late. Always an eachway proposition. FINALLY FRENCH has two minor placings on ‘soft’ tracks but they were closer to Good than truly soft. Has been spinning the wheels last two starts. Forgive those and he is in the mix. GLASGOW GIRL is coming from stronger races than this. Should come across and sit over a moderate tempo. Hard to beat. SHINJU is the X-Factor runner. Only a Gosford maiden winner but scratched from a C1 to race in a Grad 60+ is a confident move by a powerful stable. Numbers: 8 – 1 – 3 – 10 Suggested Bet – ROUTE EIGHTY EIGHT EACHWAY Race 3 ESSENTIAL SPICE is bursting to win a race but the map situation is concerning. Drawn outside of 4 runners who have shown more early gate speed. Where Knuckey gets is crucial to her winning chances. Punters will know their fate after 200m. FESTIVAL MISS should be positioned just off the leading brigade smoking the pipe. Will be finishing powerfully late. FLOWER OF WAR either leads or sits in the breeze in a race where Pike holds the key to the map aboard Salcity. CRYPTIC LOVE draws soft to track the speed and get the final crack. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – ESSENTIAL SPICE EACHWAY Race 4 GATTING caused the boil over in the Hyperion and then was nailed on the line in the Strickland Stakes. Set Weights and Penalties conditions essentially etch his name onto the Swan River Vase for the second year running. M110 with 58.5kg. he should win with his eyes closed. COME PLAY WITH ME is the logical horse to run second. MR ALBY should run third. EYE ART should run fourth. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 7 Suggested Bet – FIRST FOUR: 1 – 2 – 5 – 7 IN ORDER Race 5 COMING AROUND is coming out of a particularly high rating edition of the Belmont Guineas where he ran a brave third. Mystery Miss is now a Belmont Oaks winner and True Attraction is now an Aquinita Stakes winner. The form speaks for itself. Steve Parnham just needs to find a spot three deep with cover and he’ll go very close. FRED DAG has blinkers added for the first time and has been building into the preparation. DISTANT TRILOGY was stiff not to salute last start. Is in a purple patch of form and seems to gel with Paul Harvey. MISTY LAD went well fresh and should find his favourite spot in the breeze. Numbers: 7 – 4 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – COMING AROUND WIN Race 6 FREE TRADE, STAGEMAN and PYM’S ROYALE meet in another mouthwatering three way clash. The rest of the field are again unlucky to fall into the strongest 70+ races of recent times. FREE TRADE should find the front for Kyra Yuill who looks like getting things completely her own way. Huge last start and very hard to run down. PYM’S ROYALE put in the biggest eye catcher since Francesca Cumani lobbed at Ascot in December 2017 (we all remember). Looks to have come back even better and is freakish at his best. STAGEMAN was backed as if unbeatable last start and duly saluted after a Pike special. Can win again. IN LOVE WITH PARIS best of the rest but not a winning chance. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – FREE TRADE WIN Race 7 THE VELVET KING takes luck out of the equation with his racing pattern. Back to trials after last start and a gear change to try and keep him straight. He concedes big weight swings to rivals but he just keeps improving. Looked gone last start but in the end ran the fastest final 200m split of the race. DARK PROSPECT improved out of sight last start back on top of the ground and backing up off 7 days. He goes gangbusters off the short back-up so waiting to see him do it again. NIKITAS has his third run in three weeks. Won extremely well last start and maps in an identical position. DOUBLE DIGIT is ready to win and should find a spot. Numbers: 3 – 11 – 2 – 8 Suggested Bet – THE VELVET KING WIN Race 8 LORDHELPMERUN is perfectly placed to win another 64+ race against the older horses. Won ultra impressively in this grade two starts ago over Moschard who made the form strong straight away. Last start lost no admirers when running second to The Velvet King, beating home genuine 70+ types Double Digit and Dark Prospect. Back in grade, maps to get the run of the race. He should be winning. PLAY HARD backs up off 7 days from the Aquinita, drops in trip and provided Son of Bacchus doesn’t get a start should lead without challenge. SKINNEN TINS gets it soft on the fence. MAKE MINE CHAMPERS was brilliant last start and gets Pike aboard. Numbers: 1 – 13 – 5 – 15 Suggested Bet – LORDHELPMERUN WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 4,7 1,4,10 2,3,4,8,11 1 Market Market
