Scott Embry’s Friday Carnarvon Preview Posted on July 12, 2018July 12, 2018 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 HELLMAN was well thought of at both starts in WA having transferred across from the East. Has had a trial on the dirt which is important. Biggest concern is getting crossed early. STAY SWEET dropping back in trip looks suitable and has been impressive in all Carnarvon maiden efforts to date. MY CHINA DOLL and ROSSANA will both be suited over far further but have both shown enough to be winning a Carnarvon maiden at some stage. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – HELLMAN WIN Race 2 CARDINAL HERO resumes first-up without a trial and should really be going round close enough to eachway odds. Is a chance to lead them up from the inside and would then be hard to run down fresh. GERSHOM won well at his WA debut and then battled away admirably in a race which could turn out to be strong form. GLOWING ROCK has been away slowly recently which is a huge concern. SNACK PACK is a 1000m only commodity and will be right on speed. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – CARDINAL HERO EACHWAY Race 3 SUPER SAXON has really hit a purple patch. Was backed as if unbeatable last start and duly saluted. Drawn to race close handy and can make it two on the bounce. DEFIANCY came from a fair way off them to win last start. Horses than can sustain a run usually hold form well. PIGEON POST may lead this event and that would see him hard to run down. BALMONT STUNNER is starting to hit his straps and is ready to run a big race. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 5 – 6 Suggested Bet – SUPER SAXON WIN Race 4 FAITH IN FATE was going to be blackbooked at the 800 when caught three and four deep and punching. Kept coming and won the race, big effort. Step to 1200m is always a query but that win was impressive. ICONOCLAST continues to run big races as a veteran galloper. He is honest and consistent. LINGO will ultimately stretch out over further but can run a race. DISCORSIA won well last start when the shades went on. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – FAITH IN FATE WIN Race 5 KNOT AFRAID carries the grand stand but Jade McNaught’s claim brings him right into the mix. This is one of the easier class races he will contest this preparation and if he finds cover should be in the finish. SASSE DE BLISHK went well behind Woomera and that seems to be the measuring stick form wise so far this season. RHINO’S LAD was a big winner three starts ago at Geraldton. Repeat of that sees him go close. JUENDIS is a query at the trip but rarely runs a shocker. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – KNOT AFRAID WIN Race 6 RUN FOR A REASON comes from the strongest form lines in the race. Has proven to travel on the dirt and Peta Edwards would probably currently hold the title of leading rider in Carnarvon. Looks worth being on. DIAMOND JOLSON has run some handy races at the provincials and should be a handy acquisition. DAM LUCKY was beaten a long way first-up but should be improved for the experience. RUFUS has been out of the winner’s circle a long time but is going well. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 8 – 12 Suggested Bet – RUN FOR A REASON WIN Quad (Race 3 – 6) 1,3 1,2,3,7 1,4 6,7 Market Market
