RACE 1 NO. 2 SEBRING SUN

SEBRING SUN will be fitter for two runs back from a spell and will appreciate a drop in class when he contests the Benchmark 84 Handicap (1100m). The four year old was wide all the way when finishing 6^th behind BASSETT in the Abell Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on March 17. That form was enhanced when BASSETT won last week’s Hareeba Stakes at Mornington and this is a much easier task for SEBRING SUN, especially from an inner draw with the benefit of Ben Allen’s 1.5kg claim. Whilst he hasn’t won in eight starts since joining the Darren Weir stable, SEBRING SUN won’t get a better chance than this and appeals as one of the better bets of the day.

RACE 3 NO. 8 LIMESTONE

LIMESTONE has been one of Melbourne’s best two year olds this season and looks the class runner in this year’s VOBIS Gold Rush (1000m). After winning at Flemington and Caulfield, the daughter of Helmet ran a brave second to the subsequent Blue Diamond winner CATCHY in the Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) at Caulfield on February 25. She has been freshened up since that run and looks very well placed in this race, especially under the set weight conditions of this race. Whilst she will start a short priced favourite, LIMESTONE should justify that price and record her third career win from 5 starts.

RACE 9 NO. 11 PAY UP BRO

PAY UP BRO is running into form and looks a good value chance when he runs in the Benchmark 90 Handicap (1400m). The John Moloney trained gelding has had two runs back from a spell including a solid last start third behind THE NEW BOY in the St Pat’s Cup (1400m) at Geelong on March 18. He was unsuited by a slow tempo on that occasion, but finished strongly in the manner of a coming winner. This looks a slightly stronger race but he drops in weight and, with added fitness, represents a good each way chance.
