Greg Hooper’s Ascot Preview Posted on January 13, 2017January 13, 2017 | Posted by Greg Hooper RACE 1 PRESELECTION looks hard to beat the opener. She had no luck in a similar race a fortnight back and drops in weight for this assignment. KIROV BOY drops in class and the small field suits as at some stage he should find the front and give them something to run down. I DONE IT won’t get it as easy as he did last start but still has claims. TOPPA DAWOZZA is a serial place getter who will get a soft run from gate 1. Numbers – 4 – 1 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – PRESELECTION WIN RACE 2 The majority of the leading chances come out of a maiden at Pinjarra on Boxing Day. STRATOSPHILLY was probably the best run in the race after she made a meal of the start and was still able to finish of heels of the placegetters. Pike goes on and if he jumps well from a good draw she’s the one to beat. MAGIC MINT was caught wide in the same event and battled on strongly. The bar plate going on is the query. ZOSIMUS can lead and give a big sight. ONAPARA didn’t get the best of luck in the same race. Numbers – 11 -12 – 2 – 10 Suggested Bet – STRATOSPHILLY WIN RACE 3 CAROCAPO has impressed in both career starts when leading all the way. He might get a little more pressure in this but he’s a horse with immense promise and looks very hard to beat again. DEADLY SHOT was beaten by a couple of smart ones in his first preparation. He’s trialled well and should get a pie run from a good draw. DAINTY TESS has turned into a wallet burner for the punters however Pike riding is a big plus. ATACAMA SKY can give a sight on the speed. Numbers – 3 – 7 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – CAROCAPO WIN RACE 4 This is a very tough race. OUR FINEST MOMENT looks close to another win. From gate 3 he should get a soft run close to the speed and get his chance. SASSO’S CIRCUS came off a four week break last week at Pinjarra and ran well, Pike retains the ride. PINZU was luckless last week. SCARLET SPEEDSTER is up in class but he possesses a big finish and should be finding the line hard again. Numbers – 7 – 9 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet – OUR FINEST MOMENT WIN RACE 5 SLIK SAM excels at this trip and he should get a lovely run tagging the expected strong tempo. THREE VOTES was game in defeat fresh. The winkers go on. TOMMY WHO was scratched last week and the bar shoe goes on which is a concern. He still should go close. DANCE MINDY DANCE next best. Numbers – 6 – 2 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – SLIK SAM WIN RACE 6 IN THIS LIFE attacked the line at Pinjarra suggesting she is close to another win. Harvey goes on which is a big plus as he has steered her in three of her five wins. KEY TO FAME leads and is the one to run down. PARIS DREAM was better last start. She can box seat from gate 1. PADDY will get off the speed and finish strongly. Numbers – 4 – 1 – 9 – 6 Suggested Bet – IN THIS LIFE WIN RACE 7 VOLKOFF gets her chance at tasting feature race success. She didn’t get the best of luck in the Summer Scorcher. She will likely be allowed to find the outside in this and be allowed to utilise her powerful late burst. DAWN APPROACH battled away strongly after being caught wide. He can find the breeze. DURENDAL produced an eye-catcher at his local debut. REBEL KING should never be underestimate. Numbers – 11 – 6 – 1 – 10 Suggested Bet – VOLKOFF WIN RACE 8 DEZZIE’S DREAM looks very well placed to make it back to wins in this final event of the day. She was a strong first-up winner after enjoying a nice passage in running and from gate 3 she should get the favours again. SHE’S A VIRTUE ran well first-up and looks the danger. FLYTEGO is hard to catch but he excels at this track and distance. RED PADDY next best. Numbers – 4 – 14 – 5 – 10 Suggested Bet – DEZZIE’S DREAM AND SHE’S A VIRTUE QUADDIE RACE 5 – 2, 3, 6 RACE 6 – 1, 4, 6, 9, 11 RACE 7 – 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11 RACE 8 – 4, 5, 14 Bet Now!
