Warren Huntly’s Saturday Caulfield Preview Posted on July 7, 2023 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 LINKS has a race fitness edge on many and has handled soft ground. IT’S A LOCK IN dominated an easier race last start but looks progressive. PURE PARADISE has been jumping out well without being fully tested. SENSICAL competed at the elite level in her first preparation and has been jumping out in good style. ELDERBERRY and SPICY MARGS are worth consideration. Selections: 1,5,3,2 Suggested Bet: Links each way Race 2 ARISTONOUS has looked good winning his two Australian starts in NSW and handles soft ground. TROSETTE is suited by the rise in trip and shapes as a strong danger. MAYFAIR SPIRIT is fit and consistent. THORIN will give a sight on speed. Selections: 6,4,9,10 Suggested Bet: Playing multiples around 6 & 4 Race 3 Shapes as a match race between ARTZINO and SO SLEEK with First Immortal tying their form together. Leaning Artzino who made an early move into a strong head wind last start and under the circumstances ran well. So Sleek was an eye catcher behind First Immortal and maps for a good trial again. TORRANZINO appreciated 2000m last time and looks next best. TOKENIST may appreciate stepping up in distance. Selections: 4,6,10,2 Suggested Bet: Artzino to win Race 4 OUR RED MORNING has upside, she had no luck in her first Australian start, then impressed winning an easier race last time. SHE’S PRETTY RICH continues to race well and backs up from another solid run last week. SILENT SCREAM didn’t have much luck last start behind an impressive winner. IMPENDING SHADOW is another to race without luck at her latest run. ANAHITA and HAZEL BABY have claims. Selections: 9,4,8,7 Suggested Bet: Our Red Morning to win Race 5 Wide race with the potential for a solid tempo. TURBEAU is fit and racing well, the claim and the slight drop in grade are positives. RIVERPLATE will be part of the speed and could prove hard to run down. ASPEN COLORADO will be charging home on the fresh side. POLANCO hasn’t been a regular winner of late, but he likes it wet has returned in good form. ARRAN BAY had excuses first up and generally improves second up. Selections: 7,3,14,11 Suggested Bet: Turbeau each way Race 6 BRIGATINE looks hard to beat, he’s trialled nicely since covering ground and sticking on well in Brisbane. UMGAWA should appreciate 1400m third up. POLAND will strip fitter and will be better suited riding the speed at 1400m tempo. SO SI BON is always a chance in these races. Selections: 2,7,3,1 Suggested Bet: Brigantine to win Race 7 Looks an abundance of speed and FLYING ON A LIMB looks hard to beat again. She won’t have the fence trial this time but can see her swooping with clear air out wider on the track. KIN maps for a similar run and should also be charging late. SMILE AND WAVE and GREYT MUMMA should be part of the speed and if they aren’t exposed to too much pressure can figure in the finish. Selections: 4,9,11,12 Suggested Bet: Flying on a Limb each way Race 8 INGRATIATING shapes as one of the key hopes in a wide race. He’s most effective first up and has been trialling well. SWEET RIDE has also been trialling well and may get a soft run behind the likely leader in MALKOVICH, who will give a sight. BLESS HER gets blinkers back on, she’s been jumping out well and likes the sting out of the ground. SIGH takes another rise in grade but has to be included. FLYING MASCOT will be strong late. Selections: 1,7,12,13 Suggested Bet: Ingratiating each way Race 9 Another deep race. SAINT BATHANS had excuses first up and will strip fitter. FRENCH EMPEROR worked into a strong head wind last start and under the circumstances ran well. GREEN FLY has been disappointing this campaign but gets blinkers back on and prefers wet ground. VITRUVIUS improved nicely to win second up and can go on. CHANDON BURJ and THE NEPHEW are among the other hopes. Selections: 4,8,5,10 Suggested Bet: Saint Bathans each way Market Market
