Warren Huntly’s Saturday Caulfield Preview Posted on April 5, 2024April 5, 2024 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 PERSPIRATION chased strongly on and should appreciate 1200m. IMMORTAL STAR kept finding the line behind a fast filly second up and also looks suited at 1200m. APPOINTED hit the line well after being forced wide on debut and can settle closer from the inside draw. FEROCE was well supported and controlled the race to win in good style on debut and is open to improvement. Selections: 3,8,5,2 Suggested Bet: Perspiration to win Race 2 UNSEEN RULER is unproven beyond 1700m but gives the impression 2000m will suit now. DAIQUIRI will strip fitter for and encouraging return and is proven beyond 2000m. VERIFIER had excuses after covering ground last start and is drawn for a much better run. FUTURE MONARCH won well in easier company last time and shapes as through this trip will suit. Selections: 6,1,7,8 Suggested Bet: Unseen Ruler each way Same Race Multi: Unseen Ruler (Top 2) + Daiquiri (Top 4) Race 3 THE PRODIGAL SON has been trialling well to resume and should be suited by what appears to be a solid tempo. LONGTIMEDREAMING bounced back to something like her best form last start and will also appreciate a solidly run race. TIFFANY VALENTINE may be best suited coming back to 1200m and will be strong late. BEWS quickened nicely when asked for an effort in a recent jumpout and comes into this race unbeaten first up. Selections: 7,11,14,3 Suggested Bet: The Prodigal Son each way Race 4 MOESHA has been a little frustrating but worked home well in a stronger race dominated closer to the speed last start. INHIBITIONS was solid in the same race and must have a case with any luck from the draw. ILLATIVE has proven to competitive in stronger company that her last start maiden win and the form out of that race is holding up well. MISS ARIA found the right part of the track to win an easier race last start but has some upside. PEACE TREATY had excuses (lame/slow recovery) as an odds on favourite last start and could bounce back without surprising. Selections: 5,1,11,6 Suggested Bet: Moesha each way Race 5 FURIOUS ran well first up in this grade over 1200m and loos suited by the step up to 1400m. MATRIARCH ROSE is going well, she takes on the boys but gets plenty of weight relief, particularly after the claim. RUSSIAN METEOR is lightly race with upside and will strip fitter for an eye-catching return. JUCCONI didn’t have the best of luck last start and will be strong late over 1400m. HAZEL BABY continues to race well. WORSFOLD will be charging late. Selections: 7,15,11,10 Suggested Bet: Furious each way Race 6 Competitive race. NANA’S WISH controlled the race to score impressively in easier grade and appears capable of stepping up to this company. OUR EMPRESS ZOE is sure to be improved after giving a great sight first up in the race won by SPLASH BACK, who will also strip fitter after that first up win. SERASANA is a Sandown Guineas winner over this course and distance and will be close to her top third up. LEGACIES, JENNY JEROME and REGAL VOW are among the other chances. Selections: 8,12,11,3 Suggested Bet: Nana’s Wish each way Race 7 A solidly run Alister Clark shapes as the key lead up race and APULIA should have derived a good deal of benefit from that second up run. His second placing in the Victoria Derby reads well. SUNSETS form ties in with Apulia, he ran third in that Derby and ran bravely in the Alister Clark second up. ANTRIM COAST won the Alister Clark after chasing Orchestral in the NZ Derby. Outside that form line GOLD WOLF, CHEROKEE BRAVE and THEODOR have some claims. Selections: 1,2,3,5 Suggested Bet: Numbers 1,2 & 3 for the quaddie Race 8 GLOBE looks dangerous for a horse with his potential on the minimum weight. The only blot on his copy book to date is when he pulled up with cardiac arrhythmia after starting favourite in the G2 Feehan and he’s been jumping out in great style to resume. BUFFALO RIVER has been mixing it with our best WFA gallopers and if he can hold that form will prove hard to get past despite conceding weight to most of his rivals. ATTRITION was below his best first up but has trialled well since. HERE TO SHOCK race well here and the likely speed may offset his wide draw. THE INFERNO did enough behind Imperatriz first up. Selections: 9,2,1,4 Suggested Bet: Globe to win Race 9 FIRST IMMORTAL is a highly promising stayer and is open to improvement from his first up win. He should appreciate the step up to 2000m and with DENY KNOWLEDGE ensuring a solid tempo his staying qualities should come to the fore. JENNILALA stuck on well with a light weight in the G1 Coolmore and is proven out to this trip. SHAIYHAR chased well behind First Immortal first up and gets a weight swing in his favour. CARINI was outsprinted last start, he gets blinkers first time and should be at peak fitness now. BERKELEY SQUARE has been going ok this prep and might be looking for 2000m now. Selections: 3,8,11,9 Suggested Bet: First Immortal to win Race 10 REGAL AZMON was one of a few luckless runners in a key lead up race last start, he’s due for a change of fortune and is drawn for clear air in the home straight. BELLE PLAISIR has retuned in good form, she maps well and should appreciate the extra 100m. FRIGID and RED PHANTOM both had some excuses in the same race as Regal Azmon at their last starts and are in the mix. Selections: 11,1,13,15 Suggested Bet: Regal Azmon each way Market Market
