Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on July 6, 2023July 6, 2023 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 PETER PETRIFY (3) has won five of his past eight starts but wasn’t suited when caught in the breeze here last week. He should enjoy a nice run close to the speed tonight and will be hard to hold out. CHEER THE MAJOR (1) has finished towards the rear at his last two starts but looks the leader here and will be hard to catch over the sprint trip. ETON ROCK (4) was an unlucky close-up 3rd here last week and shouldn’t be far away again. WATCHING OUR COIN (5) was a strong winner here last week and must be respected again. Tips: 3 1 4 5 Suggested Bet: PETER PETRIFY (3) to win. Race 2 MEA CULPA (1) has been unplaced at his past five starts but he led throughout from this draw just before that and appeals as the one to beat here. ONESMARTFELLA (3) flashed home to run a close 2nd here last week and should enjoy a nice run close to the speed. WITHOUTTHETUH (10) ran a nice 3rd in a strong standing start event at his last start and is drawn to be a great place chance again. KIMBLE (8) impressed in a recent Pinjarra trial for his new trainer but the draw makes it tough. Tips: 1 3 10 8 Suggested Bet: MEA CULPA (1) to win. Race 3 THE MUSTANG (1) has raced with a sit at his past five starts and has been placed in four of those but he is likely to push for an all-the-way victory and will be hard to catch over the sprint trip. TENZING BROMAC (8) is the class runner of the field but has a tough draw to overcome. CLASSIC CHOICE (2) has options at the start and looks a good place chance on his recent form in easier company. BLITZEMBYE (3) should enjoy a nice run close to the speed and won’t be far away. Tips: 1 6 2 3 Suggested Bet: THE MUSTANG (1) to win. Race 4 FINVARRA (1) led throughout to defeat HIMSELF (4) four starts back and has finished runner up to either PRINCE OF PLEASURE (2) or HIMSELF (4) and can turn the tables from the pole tonight. PRINCE OF PLEASURE (2) has defeated the favourite at his past two starts but loses the barrier advantage tonight. VAMPIRO (5) has brilliant gate speed and could be the fly in the ointment. HIMSELF (4) defeated FINVARRA (1) here last week but won’t be finding the lead tonight. Tips: 1 2 5 4 Suggested Bet: FINVARRA (1) to win. Race 5 ALCIPPES DELIGHT (4) was unplaced in three consecutive standing start events before running a solid 3rd here last week and has the gate speed to have options in the early stages. AMERICAN ARMA (1) has been performing well from wide draws and the rise in class tonight is offset by the pole draw. ACHARNE GIRL (9) was an unlucky 2nd here last week and is capable of overcoming the wide draw. STENO (7) hasn’t lived up to her reputation since crossing the Nullabor but must be considered in this field. Tips: 4 1 9 7 Suggested Bet: ALCIPPES DELIGHT (4) each way. Race 6 FASTER THAN DAD (1) was a good winner here two starts back before running a nice 3rd to Mighty Conqueror last week and is the one to beat from the pole. WHOS THE DAD (4) has good gate speed and he will give them something to catch if he can cross at the start. PAUL EDWARD (10) was a solid winner in easier company at his last start and is drawn to get a nice run on the pegs here. ARMA XFACTOR (7) has resumed with four impressive victories but goes up in class and has a tough draw to overcome. Tips: 1 4 10 7 Suggested Bet: FASTER THAN DAD (1) to win. Race 7 PELIGROSO (1) led throughout here at his last start and looks the one to beat after coming up with the pole draw over the sprint trip. CLOUD NINE (12) hasn’t had much luck in his five WA starts and can run a race here at good each way odds. FLYING RUMOUR (10) is drawn to trail the favourite and looks a good place chance. RUN FOR MERCY (8) has been racing in stronger company but the draw makes it tough. Tips: 1 12 10 8 Suggested Bet: CLOUD NINE (12) each way. Race 8 SKYLORD (6) ran a strong 3rd to Mister Smartee after facing the breeze and is clearly the one to beat against this field. VELOCIPEDE (7) was a good all-the-way winner at his last start and looks the only danger. REDDY TO FLY (8) is racing well but doesn’t have the class of his two main rivals and is poorly drawn. REG LAWSON (2) is a consistent type and his good draw gives him a chance to be placed. Tips: 6 7 8 2 Suggested Bet: SKYLORD (6) to win. Race 9 FLY TO FAME (1) has won her last two starts and overcame a wide draw to defeat a stronger field at her last start. She looks the leader here and will be extremely hard to beat. JACKIE DANIELS (6) was held up when 7th behind FLY TO FAME (1) here last week and has the ability to test the favourite but the draw makes it tough. FLYING TO WIN (2) led throughout in slow time at her last start and looks a good place chance from this draw. FEELING EMPATHY (3) is next best. Tips: 1 6 2 3 Suggested Bet: FLY TO FAME (1) to win. Race 10 CHILLI PUNTER (7) has impressed in winning her two race starts and has shown the versatility needed to overcome the wide draw. MADDY LOU (8) followed wins at her first two race starts with a strong 2nd here a fortnight ago and should fight out the finish again. ATLANTIC GEM (1) is a half-sister to Swingband who won a recent trial in moderate time and must be respected from the pole. SAN REMO BEACH (6) has good gate speed and will give them something to catch if she crosses at the start. Tips: 7 8 1 6 Suggested Bet: CHILLI PUNTER (7) to win. Race 11 BROMWICH (3) won his first three starts in WA and then looked home when he broke at the top of the straight when 2nd to LUVAFLAIR (7). He draws the front line tonight and will be hard to beat if he is on his best behaviour. THATS NOT MY GAIT (2) ran consecutive 2nds to BROMWICH (3) before winning back-to-back races and is an obvious danger. LUVAFLAIR (7) is racing very consistently and will be hitting the line hard. POSSEIDON (6) has been placed in seven of his eight starts this time and should be thereabouts. Tips: 3 2 6 6 Suggested Bet: BROMWICH (3) to win. Market Market
