Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on January 6, 2022January 6, 2022 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 MACHS BETTOR (2) led throughout from this barrier in 1.55.6 two starts before having no luck when 3rd at Bunbury. He draws to lead here and will be very hard to catch. TRICKY MIKI (12) was an impressive winner of the Golden Slipper at his last start and must be respected despite being first-up. MAUNGATAHI (11) has one win and three placings from his last four starts and should be right in the finish again. PAUL EDWARD (5) is extremely consistent and will be thereabouts if he can get the right trip in transit. Tips: 2 12 11 5 Suggested Bet: MACHS BETTOR (2) to win. Race 2 MIGHTY RONALDO (3) is the reigning WA Derby winner here who resumes here without a trial but is drawn inside his main rival and should give a great sight. JUMPINGJACKMAC (5) was far from disgraced at his first start in open company when 6th to Minstrel at his last start and is the obvious danger. MACHNIFICENT (7) has a sharp turn of foot and will be charging home if there is a solid tempo. BETTORSTARTDREAMING (1) has an almost perfect record when leading and gets that opportunity here but does rise in class. Tips: 3 5 7 1 Suggested Bet: MACHNIFICENT (7) each way. Race 3 RAGAZZO MACH (4) had his first defeat when a 22m 2nd to IDEAL AGENT (6) here last week. It is a significant margin to make up in a week but he is drawn inside that rival tonight and can turn the tables. IDEAL AGENT (6) couldn’t have been more impressive in winning that event in 1.53.5 and will give a great sight again. THE IDEAL TOUCH (5) looks a good chance to camp just behind the favoured pair and won’t be far away. WITHOUTTHETUH (1) doesn’t have the class of his rivals but can be placed from the draw. Tips: 4 6 5 1 Suggested Bet: RAGAZZO MACH (4) to win. Race 4 PAPINIK (2) won two in a row before finishing a brave 2nd to MAJOR MARTINI (8) at his last start. He now has the barrier advantage and looks the one to beat. MAJOR MARTINI (8) has resumed from an injury-enforced lay-off with four wins from his five starts and is the main danger despite the wide draw. MOTU PREMIER (3) finished 2nd to Balcatherine here two starts back and is proven at this level. BEAT CITY (4) rises significantly in class but has won four of his last five starts and is capable of being in the finish. Tips: 2 8 3 4 Suggested Bet: PAPINIK (2) to win. Race 5 MAGNIFICENT STORM (6) brought up his 19th victory from 23 starts when beating a similar field here last week and is clearly the one to beat but isn’t as well suited from this draw over the shorter trip. MINSTREL (11) started from the backline and never looked like losing here a fortnight ago and looks a major player again. BALCATHERINE (2) led throughout here two starts to beat a similar field and will be hard to catch if she can find the top again. HURRICANE HARLEY (3) is one-dimensional in this company but will give a great sight if he can cross at the start. Tips: 6 11 2 3 Suggested Bet: MAGNIFICENT STORM (6) to win. Race 6 GAMBIT (5) was a good winner here before facing the breeze and running a gallant 2nd to Beat City in 1.54.2. He is drawn outside of his main rivals but will still give a great sight. NOTA BENE DENARIO (2) took the sit when 2nd to ALTA INTRIGUE (9) before leading throughout to defeat a weaker field and has options from his nice draw. FIFTY FIVE REBORN (4) has faced the breeze and ran 2nd at her last two starts and should make her presence felt again. ALTA INTRIGUE (9) defeated a similar field two starts back but is drawn poorly tonight. Tips: 5 2 4 9 Suggested Bet: GAMBIT (5) to win. Race 7 SHADOW ROLL (4) led when a game 2nd to Rupert Of Lincoln two starts back and looks the one to beat against this field. ROCK ME OVER (3) has been disappointing of late but is the other class runner and can be given one more chance. CARRERA MACH (5) has been placed in two of his last three starts and shouldn’t be far away. MEDIEVAL MAN (7) has been beaten at Busselton at his last two starts but has the strength to make his presence felt here. Tips: 4 3 5 7 Suggested Bet: SHADOW ROLL (4) to win. Race 8 ALICE KAY (1) has only won one of her last 22 starts but looks the likely leader here and should prove hard to catch. MANDY JOAN (2) has been placed in her last two starts in stronger company and should be in the firing line throughout. MISSTIANO (10) is drawn to get a lovely run o on the back of the favourite and looks a great place chance. RUN FOR MERCY (11) was impressive in bringing up back-to-back victories and must be considered on those efforts but she was very disappointing last start. Tips: 1 2 10 11 Suggested Bet: ALICE KAY (1) to win. Race 9 ORLANDO BLUE (1) has led throughout to win his last three starts which included a 1.55.1 victory over Finvarra. He draws the pole tonight and looks the one to beat. DON’T BOTHER ME NONE (5) has won nine of his past 11 starts and is the obvious danger. He is first-up tonight but warmed up for this assignment with a nice recent Byford trial and will make his presence felt. STAR OF WILLOUGHBY (3) will sit close to the lead and will be charging home late. JETT STAR (8) hasn’t come back in his best form and is drawn wide here. Tips: 1 5 3 8 Suggested Bet: ORLANDO BLUE (1) to win. Race 10 ARMA EINSTEIN (8) is drawn wide but is the in-form pacer of this field and will give a great sight. WHATABRO (3) hasn’t had much luck of late but will be a big improver if he can find the front. MACHLANI (1) is drawn to get a lovely run and shouldn’t be far away. VALBONNE (2) has the gate speed to challenge for the lead and will give a great sight if he finds the top. Tips: 8 3 1 2 Suggested Bet: ARMA EINSTEIN (8) to win. Market Market
