Trent Cooper’s Gloucester Park Preview Posted on April 23, 2020 | Posted by Trent Cooper Race 1 ROMAN ART (1) has won his last five on end and has led throughout in four of those victories. He has drawn inside his main rival and will be hard to catch if he can hold the front. PAPINIK (2) has won all five starts this time in and has come from off the speed in most of those efforts. He is a classy type and the obvious danger. WHOSWHOINTHEZOO (10) is drawn to get a soft run on the pegs and can be placed. ONE FOR DAVE ANDME (12) is flying but will settle a fair way off the two fancies. Tips: 1 2 10 12 Suggested Bet: ROMAN ART (1) to win. Race 2 MR KIWI (5) had form around the likes of Self Assured in NZ and should be too classy for this field if he is anywhere near his best first-up. BETTOR BE OSCAR (10) was a good all-the-way winner in solid time last start but will need luck from this draw. CARRERA MACH (4) will strip fitter for his first-up 7th and is drawn better tonight. QTOWN RIP ROARING (1) is drawn to get a nice trip on the pegs and looks a good place chance. Tips: 5 10 4 1 Suggested Bet: MR KIWI (5) to win. Race 3 SERGEANT OATS (1) followed three consecutive 2nds with a win against a similar field here last week. He is even better drawn here and has options at the start. SOHO THUNDERSTRUCK (10) faced the breeze when 3rd in that race last week and will play a part if he has any luck from this draw. HOIHO (5) was an impressive last start winner and will be in the finish if he gets the right trip. IDEAL INVESTMENT (3) led throughout here last week and will be hard to catch if he finds the top tonight. Tips: 1 10 5 3 Suggested Bet: SERGEANT OATS (1) to win. Race 4 KINGSLAYER (1) had his chance when 3rd here last week but is a noted frontrunner who should lead and give a great sight from the pole. IM SOXY (5) is the class runner of the field who drops back in grade and should be right in the finish. VALBONNE (10) is drawn to get a lovely run on the pegs and shouldn’t be far away. ALWAYS AN HONOUR (12) isn’t suited by the draw but could be a knockout chance if the pace is solid in the early stages. Tips: 1 5 10 12 Suggested Bet: KINGSLAYER (1) to win. Race 5 SHOCKWAVE (12) has won his last four on end including a 1.53.4 victory at his last start. He is likely to settle in front of his main danger here and can use his fitness edge to his advantage. CHICAGO BULL (7) was awesome at his return and can reclaim his mantle as the state’s best pacer with a win here. OUR JIMMY JOHNSTONE (1) is racing extremely well and will have options at the start. TALKTOMEURMATTJESTY (2) will be fitter after two runs back from a short break and has a surprisingly good record at this trip. Tips: 12 7 1 2 Suggested Bet: SHOCKWAVE (12) to win. Race 6 LAVRA JOE (1) has won three of his last four starts in impressive fashion. His defeat was when driven negatively behind MACHNIFICENT (6) but he bounced back to his best last start and looks hard to beat from the pole. MACHNIFICENT (6) is the obvious danger and he has a bit more high speed than the polemarker so can overcome the draw. STAR OF WILLOUGHBY (5) has been placed behind the two favourites at his last two starts and can be in the money again. OVERJOYED (10) goes up in class on his win but is drawn well. Tips: 1 6 5 10 Suggested Bet: LAVRA JOE (1) to win. Race 7 BALCATHERINE (11) ran on strongly to defeat a weaker field of mares here last week. There looks to be plenty of tempo in this event and she can run over the top of them if she gets the right cart into the race. DRACARYS (4) had no luck last start but can be driven more positively from this draw and should be right in the finish. TYPHOON TIFF (8) is drawn poorly but must be respected on her first up win and career record. MILLWOOD MOLLY (2) is the best drawn of the main chances and looks a major player. Tips: 11 4 8 2 Suggested Bet: BALCATHERINE (11) each way. Race 8 THE BUCKEYE BULLET (3) has won three of his past five starts and faced the breeze when 2nd in other two. He rises in class tonight but has the handicap advantage over his main rivals and should give a great sight. THE BIRD DANCE (9) has won 11 of his 16 starts and will be hard to hold out if he handles his first attempt at the stand. KIWI BLOKE (5) has only been fair at his first two runs back from a spell but is a proven stand performer and can improve. ON MY OATH (1) has been placed at six of his past seven starts and should be thereabouts. Tips: 3 9 5 1 Suggested Bet: KIWI BLOKE (5) each way. Race 9 FIFTY FIVE REBORN (1) was a strong two winner two starts back before running a brave 2nd here. She is a lot better drawn tonight and is clearly the one to beat. MY SWEET DEAL (4) has been placed in 16 of her 18 career starts and is drawn to settle close to the lead here. SUING YOU (3) has disappointed of late but could be dangerous with a soft run on the speed. INTHESKYROCKET (2) doesn’t have the class of her main rivals but looks a good place chance from this draw. Tips: 1 4 3 2 Suggested Bet: FIFTY FIVE REBORN (1) to win. Race 10 STAR FROMTHEPALACE (2) was held up here two starts back before leading throughout against a weaker field on Sunday. She is drawn inside her main rivals tonight and appeals as the one to beat. ALTA LOUISA (9) has been impressive in winning her two race starts but will have to be very good to win from out here. ADVANCE YOUR DREAM (3) finished in front of STAR FROMTHEPALACE (2) at her last start and must be considered. STAR OF DIAMONDS (6) goes up in class on her last start win but can figure. Tips: 2 9 3 6 Suggested Bet: STAR FROMTHEPALACE (2) to win. Market Market
