Scott Embry’s Saturday Ascot Preview Posted on April 23, 2020April 25, 2020 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 BLACKWATER BAY is the start of a possible William Pike race to race odds on double. He is improving with racing and experience. Found bad trouble first-up and then couldn’t reel in Irritable Rodnee last start. That should prove the best form in the race and while he will be short he should be able to get over them late. I HOPE YOU DANCE has Mitch Pateman going on and should lead and control the race from the inside gate. Looks the logical danger. MISS MALIBU has been a model of consistency and dropping back in trip can figure in the finish at a price. OUTLAW KING was big in debut and flat second-up. Willing to forgive him and follow up. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 8 – 4 Suggested Bet – BLACKWATER BAY WIN RACE 2 HIP WIGGLE could not have done more first-up. The race was controlled from the front and to make as much ground as she did was impressive. The filly who she was sprinting home with (Angelic Miss) also looks to have above average ability. Expecting this to be another short but sweet William Pike victory. IGARASHI should control the tempo and as with the first favourite the logical danger looks to be the leader. AWAY WE GO bungled the start fresh and made up solid ground late. Does a fair bit wrong but has some ability. LOOKS LIKE MAGIC next best against the fence. Numbers: 6 – 7 – 1 – 4 Suggested Bet – HIP WIGGLE WIN RACE 3 STARFIELD IMPACT vs CHARLETON EDDIE does look an exciting clash. Siding with the filly STAFIELD IMPACT who is the winner of the Crystal Slipper, Supremacy Stakes and Gimcrack Stakes. Gets in with only 57kg after the claim and if Chris Graham can get her out of the machine she’ll make a race of it. CHARLETON EDDIE is fool proof. He jumps and runs and will take catching. APPLE SCHNAPPS trialled well. KISSONALLFORCHEEKS looks to have improved this campaign. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – STARFIELD IMPACT WIN RACE 4 RIVER BEAU is flying at the minute and this looks another suitable race for him. Two starts ago was charging to the line behind the undefeated Cliffs of Comfort, running straight past talented filly Tommy Blue. Looked a good thing on Good Friday and duly saluted. This race is very similar and he should again go close to winning. CUBALLING returns to the races first-up without a trial. Speedy customer who will be looking to cross Lording in the early stages. LORDING made River Beau work last start. If he jumps cleanly can make Cuballing do some work. ROCKY PATH is screaming out to win a race. Just needs conditions to suit. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – RIVER BEAU WIN RACE 5 ANGELIC RULER was just caught in an awkward position first-up when sitting one out one back following the 500-1 pop Casino War into the race. That mare was not taking her into the race and she had to come out and around her while Flower of War had skipped away. This looks a far more suitable map for her and she can turn the tables. FLOWER OF WAR continues to be under rated and under estimated. Knows how to win but may need to breeze here. FESTIVAL MISS should get another soft rails run. MIZLECKI suited with the extra furlong. Numbers: 7 – 8 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – ANGELIC RULER WIN RACE 6 CRYPTIC LOVE should be simply too good for this field. There will be queries with an apprentice going on but Chloe Azzopardi is a very accomplished young lady and from the gate if she can see daylight in the home straight she should go straight past them. Booming winner two starts ago and last time out was only shaded by top notch filly Celebrity Queen. In Chloe we trust. SPEEDING COMET is a stretch at 1400m but never runs a bad race and was brave last start. KAKADU is going very well and maps to get a soft run just off the speed. LUKE’S GOLD had to be seen to be believed last start. He is a blowout chance if he reproduces that run. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 7 – 12 Suggested Bet – CRYPTIC LOVE WIN RACE 7 NAVY BLUE will be 20-1+ and rightfully so on recent runs. Has been beaten over 7L at his last three but importantly here he reunites with Jade McNaught. Jade has ridden him twice for a barnstorming win and a third placing to Morning Song in a 72+. From the gate he can settle in the first few in running (contrary to his previous starts) and is a big improver. PADDY’S SHADOW should track up three deep with cover. 61.5kg is a big ask but she is an inform mare. CAMBIST comes out of the 3 year old staying features. Talented filly but needs luck. OUR IDYLL steps out to a staying trip. Great to see Peter Knuckey back and this mare is progressive. Numbers: 11 – 1 – 14 – 7 Suggested Bet – NAVY BLUE EACHWAY RACE 8 UTGARD LOKI is only coming out of a 72+ but he continues to go from strength to strength and showed last start that a strong tempo is exactly what he is looking for. This race should be run at a genuine clip with Group 1 winner Trap For Fools, Harry Thomas and Fair Sonari likely to set a strong tempo. Midfield smothered up Utgard Loki can give this a shake. MYSTERY MISS is simply a William Pike mare. She doesn’t go for anyone but him and she has the fire power to win from last. Only beat a weak 78+ field last start but did it with absolute ease. HARRY THOMAS continues to run his standard brave races. KING BLITZ has some serious X-Factor. Numbers: 12 – 7 – 3 – 11 Suggested Bet – UTGARD LOKI EACHWAY RACE 9 Race 9 at Ascot turns on another cracking match race. Red Can Man vs Laverrod, Celebrity Queen vs Cryptic Love and now DIG DEEP vs LAVERROD. Siding with DIG DEEP who should get an economical run midfield with cover. Never drew a gate in his 3 year old feature season and showed at trials that he is back as good as ever. Gets the 3 year old allowance here and watch for him launching late. LAVERROD doesn’t get the 3 year old allowance after running second last start and is likely to work forward in an attempt to breeze. If he gets across it’s game on. POTENT SECRET may be 9 years old but he is going very well. MANKIND needs an ounce of luck from a sticky gate. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 11 – 3 Suggested Bet – DIG DEEP WIN Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 2,3,7 1,3,5,7,9,11,14 7,12 1,2 Market Market
