Group B – Germany v Australia

Interim coach Horst Hrubesch will oversee Germany’s campaign and a squad spearheaded by prolific forward Alexandra Popp. Bayern Munich duo Lea Schuller and Klara Buhl provide further goal threats, while Kathrin Hendrich and Sara Doorsoun are the experienced campaigners at the back. Lena Oberdorf’s withdrawal due to injury is a blow to the midfield.

Australia have been without star striker Sam Kerr for a while, and veteran Michelle Heyman has filled the void well to date. Her supporting cast of Hayley Raso, Caitlin Foord, and Mary Fowler all know where the net is. Captain Steph Catley and Alana Kennedy should play following minor injury concerns, joining Ellie Carpenter in front of goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold.
