The Scout: EPL Week 8

Watford vs Liverpool

Newly appointed Watford manager Claudio Ranieri could not have found a trickier first game in charge as they play host to Liverpool (2nd) at Vicarage Road. Jurgen Klopp’s men are yet to taste defeat this season and are just one point behind table-leaders, Chelsea.

Liverpool are right back to putting in peak performances and potentially regaining their crown as the best team in all of England and Europe. There are two standout reasons why Liverpool is back on top and that is the return of Virgil Van Dijk, and Mo Salah taking his game to yet another level (if you can believe that to be possible).

Watford will have their work cut out against one of the best defenses in Europe, and goal scoring has been an issue already this season. Four times in their seven games Watford have gone goalless, and they are yet to face a defense as ferocious as Liverpool.

Suggested Bet: Liverpool Win to Nil @ $2*

Leicester City vs Manchester United

Leicester have had a testing start to the Premier League as they sit 13th on the table with only two wins from seven matches. Manchester United too will be desperate for a win, having slipped to 4th place, with a draw and a loss from their last two fixtures.

Brendan Rogers’ side has not managed to win a Premier League fixture for four straight matches, and come into this clash having lost back-to-back against Crystal Palace and Burnley. It’s clear Leicester are not quite hitting their straps and look extremely vulnerable on the defensive end, having conceded 12 goals for the season.

Manchester United made an impressive start to the season picking up four wins and one draw from their opening five matches, and I’m thinking that form is capable of being recaptured. They’re currently on a 22-game ubeaten run away from home in the Premier League and meet Leicester at the ideal time.

Suggested Bet: Manchester United (Match Result) @ $2.10*

Norwich City vs Brighton

Norwich City (20th) are still searching for their first Premier League win of the season but come up against an in-form Brighton (6th) at Carrow Road.

The Canaries have relegation written all over them, and last weekend’s 0-0 snoozefest against Burnley was their best performance to date. Their (lack of) defense is the biggest worry, having already conceded 16 goals, equal with Newcastle as worst in the league.

Brighton have been a real surprise through seven games, taking 14 points from the first seven fixtures. Defensively they have been incredible, allowing just five goals, behind only Chelsea and Manchester City.

Suggested Bet: Neal Maupay To Score a Goal @ $2.63*
