Western United’s poor end to the season cost them a top two finish and they now take on the Wellington Phoenix in an Elimination Final.

Wellington started their A-League campaign poorly but were able to turn things around for a 6^th place finish. Despite making the finals, they have been inconsistent throughout most of the season, particularly on the defensive end.

Although they do not enter this match with the form they would want, John Aloisi and Western United will be confident playing at AAMI Park in front of a home crowd. Defense has been a focal point for them all season, finishing with the second best tally of 30 goals conceded.

Adelaide United vs Central Coast Mariners

The second A-League Elimination Final is between Adelaide United (4^th) and the Central Coast Mariners (5^th) at Adelaide’s Coopers Stadium. Both sides came into this match in great form, and with both wining their last five matches leading into the A-League finals!

Adelaide found their best football at the perfect time allowing them to finish in the all-important fourth place on the table. At home, the Reds are hard to beat, ending the season with four wins in a row at home, conceded just once in that streak.

Central Coast cannot be overlooked obviously, but Adelaide at home is as tough a road assignment you’ll find in this league.
