Scott Embry’s Wednesday Northam Preview Posted on October 19, 2021October 19, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 CISCOJOE didn’t get out and going until the last 100m on debut and savaged the line. Looked to have above average ability at trials and showed on race day that he’ll make a nice horse in time. Has to contend with a big Cerise and White danger but from what we saw at trials and on race day he’s worth following. ADVANCED got caught in the breeze on debut in a race where they ran time. That’s normally a ‘form follow’ for next start and now drawn gate 1 he can get cover. Expecting him to improve sharply and prove hard to beat. FLOWER IN THE WIND showed in her initial preparation she’ll be winning races and her trial was impressive. ALMAHER MAN ran some really nice races as a 2 year old and resumes. Numbers: 5 – 4 – 9 – 1 Suggested Bet – CISCOJOE WIN RACE 2 MAGNIFICENT ANDY was a sharp trial under Brad Parnham. Niggled at turning for home to find the bridle and then travelled boldly through the concluding stages under a hold. Looked to have a fair bit in the tank and SJ Miller’s yard looks like it’s about to wheel out some nice types. This might be the first of a few trial watchers debutantes. Should get a nice run from the draw and looks capable. GLACIER MISS flashed at Electric Rose in the shadows of the post last Thursday and just missed. Seemed to relish being ridden cold and saved up for one run. DEMERITS PRIDE dominated his recent trial. Pike’s booking catches the eye. DIAMOND BLUE is running out of chances. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – MAGNIFICENT ANDY WIN RACE 3 DAIS was a good thing licked on debut. She was held tight in a pocket for the majority of the home straight and then grew wings in the final few strides when finally seeing daylight. Tough watch for astute punters who found her out of the trials ($8 into $4.40 late). For those who didn’t, we get a great chance to jump on the bandwagon at start number two, albeit at a fraction of the price. CATALPA improved sharply first-up to second-up and the white hot Dan Morton yard throws a set of blinkers on. Worth simply following the yard at this time of year. HESGOTWINGS showed raw ability at trials. Likely to burn early from the gate in an attempt to find the fence. ROMMELS WAR box seats and gets a lovely tow ball run with no weight. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – DAIS WIN RACE 4 REAL DANGER was caught three deep first-up when going round an even money chance and couldn’t quite finish it off when finishing an encouraging third. Was absolutely plunged in betting last start and in a Cerise and White rarity found the front. Looked right at home and skipped away to win by 3L eased down. Interesting to see how Pike rides the filly here but on paper she could find the breeze easily but we all know Bob’s hatred of racing without cover! STRIKE trialled like a bomb and only just went down first-up in a C3. Drops back into a C1 and even drops 1.5kg. Drawn to lead he looks the danger. RED INFERNO ran some nice races against better quality 3 year old opposition than what she meets here last campaign. POWERFUL is trying his hardest. Just constantly running into a couple sharper than him. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – REAL DANGER WIN RACE 5 LADY OF BABYLON is a maiden in a C1 and yet looks one of the better hopes on paper. This is not a deep race and she wouldn’t need to improve much to win this. Eye catching return to racing in a fast run maiden behind Champagne Dame and stepping out to a mile she looks like she’ll be doing her best late in the race and is capable of breaking her duck against a number of horses who have been battling away in this grade for a long time. SUNDAY GIN is 55 days between outings and 2200m back to 1600m so there are a fair few unknowns. Ray Vincent’s team has been on fire for months and he can get them to go fresh. Has some X-Factor and is getting better with racing. GIN N SWANIC was a replay watchers run last start. Has been building into the campaign and looks ready to break through. I CAN SEE CLARA another maiden who can win. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 4 – 6 Suggested Bet – LADY OF BABYLON EACHWAY RACE 6 HE’S ALL MIGHTY should get a beautiful run tucked away in behind a spirited early tempo and from there gets his chance. With Rock’n’ruler, Alimentaria and Shecky’s Mate all likely to jostle for positions early CJP should be able to sneak up in behind them and watch it all unfold. The form through Jarman held up on Saturday and he looks ready to win. BEANIE was a tough watch last Wednesday when shuffled back into a horrible position and never getting out until the race was over. Going super. INDOMINUS loves Northam, gets through the wet and is in great form. Bars on the big negative. ALIMENTARIA a big beneficiary of the early Axel ‘R’ Eight scratching. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – HE’S ALL MIGHTY EACHWAY RACE 7 CHAMPAGNE DAME takes the step from a maiden straight into a C3 which is no easy task, however, she looks a talented filly on the rise. Likely to roll forward and either cross to lead or more likely sit in the breeze outside of Worth A Risk. From there she stays out of trouble and will likely look the winner turning for home. EXPRESSIONIST returns to racing for a new yard. Liked his recent trial when winding up late. Fired fresh last preparation and looks the obvious testing material. WORTH A RISK is never far from the action. Probably went too slow for her own good last time out. WAKAN TANKA sneaks back into a C3. Numbers: 10 – 4 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – CHAMPAGNE DAME EACHWAY RACE 8 GHOST WHO WALKS ran into arguably the Cerise and White flag bearing filly last Wednesday in Treasured Star. Great to see him bounce back off a moderate first-up run. Drawn an ideal gate, runs for Lucky Ramoly, maps to get a lovely run forward of midfield with cover and will likely be near double figures given Mrs America is in the race. MRS AMERICA has been given 41 days since her emphatic debut victory by master trainers Grant & Alana Williams. Don’t think she gunned down much on debut but she did it in style. GOD HAS CHOSEN is one of the more intriguing horses on the program. Beautiful animal who is highly talented and transferred to a powerful metro yard. ENTICING backs up and will relish the sting out of the ground. Numbers: 1 – 10 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – GHOST WHO WALKS EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 1,2,4,5,6,7,8,10 2,3,4,5,6 4,10 1,4,10 Market Market
