Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on May 19, 2026May 19, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LONG SERVICE LEAF has been trialling up well for his return to the races as he looks to make it three from five to start his career. Each of his wins have been at the Belmont 1000 and he should get a lovely track into the race behind high-speed pair Magnachine and Art Session. From there just needs room to move on straightening and expect he’ll be hard to hold out. ART SESSION won his trial by 3.1L leading into his return to racing, however, it’s worth remembering that last preparation he won his trial by 7L – so he always trails like a beast but ultimately, he’s yet to really race like that. MAGNACHINE trialled up as well as Last Stylebender. Don’t completely discount with only 52kg. FIRST BEACH was a complete forgive last start. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – LONG SERVICE LEAF WIN RACE 2 JOLSON AL should be too speedy for his rivals here. Ran out of petrol tickets late on debut behind Joyoh and Free To Fly, settled second and finished second behind Solar Chant at his second-up outing and then was run down late at 1100m by Guarantor in a race where they cleared out from third at Northam. Back to the short course, drawn to lead after 2 strides and looks the weakest race he as seen to date. LONG LAUGH likely ends up leader’s back in a race that could well turn into a ‘rails in run’ type event. Has been solid in all career efforts and only needs to run to the level of his minors to Publicise or Flash Dancer to be the danger. CAWARRA will likely burn across from the outside in an attempt to park in the breeze. Was stopping hard late in her trial. GETS THE GIRLS is a 23 start maiden without any early speed. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – JOLSON AL WIN RACE 3 MOON JEWEL is a real jump and run type. Was in front for a long way in a 3 year old 0MWLY behind now Saturday winner Xentaro, 2x winner Mandible Magic and highly spruiked horse Don’t Declare last time out. At double figures she’ll give cheek under only 52kg. BRAVE WASP makes his Mitch Pateman debut off the back of two very quiet trials. In the second trial it looked to the eye like he would have safely accelerated through and won that trial if there was room to move. Just wary of the fact he has let punters down a few times already. WHITE HOT made her debut in a 3 year old Saturday when only 5L behind Storm Away, Monte Tremezzo, Baby Pearl and Castle Road, beating home Paint It Red in the process. Was a bit wayward in her recent trial but from the draw should get a lovely run first-up. NICE SORT similarly was only 3.4L off Sound of Speed and Just Walter John in a 3 year old Saturday first-up last preparation and the booking of Pike takes the attention. Numbers: 6 – 1 – 10 – 8 Suggested Bet – MOON JEWEL EACHWAY RACE 4 MANDIBLE MAGIC has been under-rated and under-estimated all prep. Was less than 1L off Kings Court, Swingman and Storm Away in a 3 year old Saturday last start and will be eachway dropping back into a C3 off a perfect map/set-up. She’s a lovely little bread and butter filly. OVERDRIVE is a short course mare. She has a lovely high cruising speed and a short, sharp kick when asked to accelerate. She is a proven weight carrier having won previously with 60kg and in her last start when narrowly defeated by Santanova (won another 3 Saturdays) she beat home Last Stylebender in the process. There’s not much between them at all. LAST STYLEBENDER won first-up at Ascot in a 0MWLY and now second-up drops in grade back into a C3. Brilliant placement and a great use of the Holly Nottle claim. Jump and run horse who they’re allowing to stride. MAMMA SAYS SO finally draws a gate. Numbers: 5 – 2 – 1 – 8 Suggested Bet – MANDIBLE MAGIC EACHWAY RACE 5 A SUMMER FLING ran second to Like Clockwork on debut, beat home My Danny Boy at her second outing and then at the end of her initial campaign ran third behind Vatican Storm. Those three names dropped are each lengths better animals than what she races here first-up in a C1. Not knocked around in her recent trial behind speedy older stablemate Art Session and from the draw should get every chance. Big book on paper for Chris Parnham. MYSTERIOUS FORTUNE won well first-up and then was in front for a long way in a 1400m C3 second-up. Back in grade, back in distance and Paul Harvey back aboard. Looms as the danger. TORONADO ROCKET was very easy in late betting last start and ran accordingly. Looking for him to be ridden closer here. MISS DEFIES ME won impressively on debut and was immediately spelled. Not a fan of her most recent trial though? Numbers: 7 – 2 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – A SUMMER FLING WIN RACE 6 HERAULT looks a 3 year old who is ready to make his way through the grades and may well end up in races like the Aquanita Stakes and Belmont Classic at the end of the campaign. It was hard to make ground at Northam at the opening meeting and yet he defied that pattern with a powerful off-speed win by nearly 4L in a time 5L faster than average. This is a nice stepping stone for him into bigger and better things. SHOWLAS is 39 days between runs and has Concussion Plates added – red flag. If that wasn’t the case she’d be going on top because her two runs this preparation in 60+ Graduation company read up brilliantly for this C3. STRAPPING PROPHET trialled super, ran really well fresh and now has a set of shades added. FRIARS LEGACY is racing like a horse who wants 1400m. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 7 – 9 Suggested Bet – HERAULT WIN RACE 7 SHAMISTER looked like he was going to run second to Antique Star on Saturday for a fleeting moment before blowing out in the last 200m. He is on the 4-day back-up from Saturday to Wednesday and has backed up three times in his life: 6 days – ran second, 5 days – ran second and 5 days – ran second. 66+ back into a 52+ and on the quick spin he’s far better placed and goes around double figures. THOR’S ANGEL demolished a line-up who were collectively 0/126 and will be lucky to win a race between them. This is tougher with an extra 2kg to carry. AURURA QUEEN is a complete unknown at 2100m and the blinkers go on for the first time. If it turns into a sprint from the corner that really brings her into the mix. ROYAL CREST still has no idea what he’s doing but just looks a stayer. Numbers: 13 – 10 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – SHAMISTER EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,5 2,7 1,2,3,7,8,9 2,7,9,10,13 Market Market
