Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on August 5, 2025August 5, 2025 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 GINGER MORPHEUS was all the rage at his return to racing but couldn’t quite hold on late over the 1100m. It’s actually an identical set up to his initial preparation, beaten on debut at 1100 and then second-up back to 1000m. Might just be a short course horse at this stage of his life and he can tow ball Niccimota and zap her late. NICCIMOTA is all or nothing. She’s exceptionally quick but paddles late (like her trial). GINGERBREAD GIRL should have finished much closer first-up when luckless. THE MIGHTY BELL is a model of consistency. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – GINGER MORPHEUS WIN RACE 2 ZOURUN RUN made an encouraging debut at Northam over 1000m and then looked far more comfortable second-up at 1100m when parking three wide with cover and letting rip down the centre for an impressive win. Steps to 1400m and rises to 59kg – so she’ll need to improve again but gives the impression she’s going to be a Saturday filly in time. MEDIA CLUB and PONY UP come through the King Of Light Saturday race and can again control the speed between themselves. CHAMPAGNE CRUSADER found the right part of the track at Northam and sprinted away from moderate opposition. Numbers: 3 – 9 – 10 – 1 Suggested Bet – ZOURUN RUN WIN RACE 3 WHO’S BENT is a new season 3 year old taking on the older horses in all Age Maiden – a formula that will prove very profitable over the coming months. He’s coming out of Saturday 2 year old racing and dropping weight against weaker opposition, has a set of shades applied and now has Pike as well. Going to be popular. TAKE THE FIELD was sent around $2.80 on debut at Pinjarra off the back of a nice trial. SAAM TIME LUCKY loomed and then looked to peak on his run on debut. Can settle up closer from a more favourable barrier. PLAYING FREE trialled quite well and then never got into the race on debut. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 11 – 10 Suggested Bet – WHO’S BENT WIN RACE 4 MY AUTHORITAH was scratched on Saturday to save for this and it looks like a move that will pay off. Trialled well leading into his 2 year old preparation but just got run off his legs and caught in awkward positions in his two runs before a spell. This time around has trialled in blinkers and looks ready to stamp himself as a nice sprint/summer 3 year old. FLAMING RONDA won her trial and in the process beat Take The Field (in Race 3) and rival Hoya Destroyer. HOYA DESTROYER jumped $2.45 on debut from an impossible gate after a near 4L barrier trial win back in January. Keep safe. LASH OUT was never in the hunt on the Fibre Sand. Numbers: 14 – 12 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – MY AUTHORITAH WIN RACE 5 SILENT ALERT made a serious impression at his WA debut after being annihilated in betting and then looking like being a good thing beat before bursting his way through in the late stages down the straight. Tipped out for a spell, won his trial by nearly 5L and will no doubt be a leg in many a mid-week multi. LOST GRAVITY maps much better here 7 days later with a senior rider on. GOLD MAKER savaged the line fresh at Northam. HIT THE JACKPOT will need to burn to get across the many other speedsters drawn underneath him. Numbers: 9 – 6 – 7 – 8 Suggested Bet – SILENT ALERT WIN RACE 6 TRIPLE THE CHANT was one of few horses to make any ground behind Naughty Tortie first-up, was nearly knocked over second-up in a complete forgive and then made amends third-up when pulling clear for an emphatic victory. These C1 1600s are often trap races, especially with last start maiden winners rising 2kg but going to follow through with her and hope she can buck the trend. WHO SAZ YES must jump to give 3kg claimer Nitika Riordan any hope. LET SPARKS FLY ran a big race two back on a wet track, could be an improver. AHREA drops 4kg, off 7 days, with shades, drawn cutaway. Numbers: 7 – 10 – 11 – 8 Suggested Bet – TRIPLE THE CHANT WIN RACE 7 MEAN FEET made a solid WA Debut at Pinjarra behind King Adviso and now second-up looks to find a race where he can work his way to the top (based on Coondle handing up first time at 1300m), otherwise park in the breeze. Think he’ll suit aggressive front running rider Alex Hearn and should only improve into his prep. MY JIMMY trialled like the horse that got to a m68 rating 15 months ago and ran well first-up in a Saturday 60+ Grad. Back in grade with Pike on makes him very hard to beat. SKYTALKER has attacked the line in both runs back this prep. COONDLE rates well but is a query at 1300? Numbers: 5 – 9 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – MEAN FEET EACHWAY RACE 8 LIPSTICK JUNGLE comes out of a 3 year old 62+ behind Yorga Pride (winner of 4/5) and Snow God and looks to have found a very winnable race. All three runs this campaign have had merit and from the draw Steve Parnham should be able to afford her every chance. Hard to fault the way she’s going. ZOUCONI hasn’t quite lived up to expectation across her career but this is nice placement and a good use of the 3kg claim. STATE OF FURY rarely runs a bad race but does lack a killer blow. SURROUND ME gets out in distance after being run off her legs down the 1000m straight. Numbers: 7 – 3 – 9 – 10 Suggested Bet – LIPSTICK JUNGLE WIN Quaddie (Race 5 – 8) 9 2,7,8,10,11,12 4,5,9 1,3,4,7,9,10 Market Market
