Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on September 24, 2024September 24, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 RIVER ANGEL trialled well leading into her debut when going around under $3 at Northam. Unfortunately for her she ran into one out of the box in fellow filly Real Deluxe who has since come out and beaten Pin Deep and the older horses in a 60+ Graduation. Improves for the race day experience and strikes a winnable 0MWLY. GREAT EMOTION attacks this 3 weeks between runs and comes back to 1000m but has the best turn of foot in the race. DIVINE IMPACT went around in a pair of Saturday races in her initial preparation. Returns in shades. HEAVY METAL copped a heavy bump first-up at Northam and lost the rider. Numbers: 9 – 5 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – RIVER ANGEL WIN RACE 2 GOD’S GATE loomed the winner first-up at Northam but was run down late by impressive debutante Girl’s Day Out. He travels really well in his races, he has a positive racing pattern and get the impression if he’s tucked in behind them he’ll show a handy turn of foot. 3 year olds in all age maidens are becoming increasingly popular. MIGHTY HOSANNA ran really well first-up in the Real Deluxe/River Angel race and can lead or box seat. STRYKER’S GAL went close on multiple occasions when last in work. Honest mare. SURROUND ME may want further than 1200m given her breeding and the way she’s trialled. Numbers: 11 – 15 – 6 – 10 Suggested Bet – GOD’S GATE WIN RACE 3 BE BARDOT could not have been more impressive in her return to racing. She was an alarming late drifter in betting but proved that the market doesn’t’ always know because she burst clear for a highly impressive win, in what was a stronger line-up than what she meets here. She’ll be winning plenty of races. SIMPLY THINKIN’ is the obvious danger on paper and with Great Fortune winning by panels on Saturday she’ll have a few followers. ANGEL’S MY NAME has no weight on her back and can give cheek at odds. KINELLIN’S LEGACY trialled well for a staying mare. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 8 – 1 Suggested Bet – BE BARDOT WIN RACE 4 ELBOW LOUNGE continues to tease punters and there will be plenty following him here and plenty happy to risk him. He’s not an easy horse to catch and from barrier 1 without a cutaway he’s probably not an easy ride for claiming apprentice Cassey Martinan but it’s hard to ignore the form through his last start with Eliteone winning again on the weekend. COSMIC ECLIPSE had to pull out everything to scramble in her maiden but she’ll keep improving. Belhus Racing enjoying an unprecedented run of success! BONNY ROCK is better than last start. SOLAR SYSTEM trialled well enough and maps soft. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – ELBOW LOUNGE WIN RACE 5 CENTRE BOND is testing the patience – there’s no doubt about that! First-up he did a lot wrong and yet still pulled out a brilliant L200 to get within a neck of True Apostle and Audrey Grace and then second-up he loomed into the race but couldn’t go with Bohemian Diamond who has returned in excellent order. Ready to win and Graeme Ballantyne enjoyed a double at Bunbury Monday. We go again. ONE PUNCH got caught deep last week and fought on well into fourth. MINE HOST has loved wet track racing over winter – will he be the same on top of the ground? PROPHET AND POWER has trialled up well and rolls forward. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – CENTRE BOND WIN RACE 6 LIL CAPRI tracked up nicely in a Bunbury maiden and then zapped Universal Hotness in the last 100m when coming out and around his heels. Punters showed their hand on Monday with the form reference backing Universal Hotness from $3.8 into $2.20 in a near capacity line-up. Expect her to work through her lower grades. WHY ME put the writing on the wall last start in a Westspeed Platinum when working to the line powerfully behind He’s Gold and Major Mario. ROYAL LAW is another last start maiden winner. Didn’t beat much but has run well in each outing for Ash Maley. AUDIO BOY was just getting going late fresh. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – LIL CAPRI WIN RACE 7 OUTFIELD was huge last start. He had to burn across and park outside of Cross Statement and then was left a sitting duck when Bondi Plunge and Keep Attacking made their runs. He’ll again work across and again Cross Statement is in the race but he goes better the faster they go. SWIM THROUGH attacks this first-up, no trial and does go very well fresh. The booking of Pike suggests that Ash Maley isn’t here to send him round for a ‘barrier trial’ and he’s dropped 5 points in his last 5 races to bring him down to a winnable weight in this grade. RISEANFALL is yet to win past 1000 but that’s only a matter of time. CROSS STATEMENT tries hard. Numbers: 1 – 4 – 5 – 2 Suggested Bet – OUTFIELD WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,3,4,5,7 2,4,5 2,3,6,8 1,4,5 Market Market
