Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on September 24, 2024September 24, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 LORD SHIVA has been costly at his first two runs of the preparation. Comes through the winner producing race first-up of Oregon Hiker, Empress Of India and Ahyeahrighto and then second-up absorbed a tonne of pressure throughout and left a sitting duck to be run down. He’s ready to (finally) win one. HOME JAMES met with late betting support last start and finishing second to subsequent Saturday winner Sinful Living. AROOCHACHA sat outside of Lord Shiva last start attacking throughout and faded out noticeably. WESTCOAST EXPRESS next best. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 5 – 3 Suggested Bet – LORD SHIVA WIN RACE 2 BEYOND THE WALL led them up in a Perth Stakes on debut and had Bustling pouring the pressure on before straightening. LK Fernie’s team is going super at the minute, he has trialled well and again he’s one of these 3 year olds taking on the older horses in an All Age maiden. THE MIGHTY BELL ran a ripper on debut behind Our Mate Archie and Boussac at Northam. DUBAI’S DAUGHTER ran third behind Safekeeper and subsequent winner Hezgotthesafe at her Trevor Andrews debut. SPEAK OF THE DEVIL has been trialling well. Numbers: 8 – 6 – 4 – 11 Suggested Bet – BEYOND THE WALL WIN RACE 3 PIN DEEP reunites with ZJP who has had the key to his success this campaign. He was crossed last start by speedy filly Real Deluxe and then popped off her heels to sit in the breeze. Loomed up like he was going to win by 4L and then just peaked on his run over the last 100m. Jump, run. SNIPPY WHICH is yet to really find his feet this campaign. He’s better than his first-up and second-up runs. MILITARY POWER and COCKTAIL PARTY are both quick and both drawn inside of Pin Deep. Interesting to see whether either try to hold him out early. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – PIN DEEP WIN RACE 4 CELEBRITY SKIN was luckless on debut when held up at crucial stages behind heels. This is a tougher race than what she contested on debut and she rises up 1.5kg but she gets Pike’s services. Going to side up with her and trust the eye. SAXON JEWEL will find this lengths easier than running into Perfect Chant and Blue Rocket on a Saturday. YUWILL BE THE ONE nearly won a Saturday 2 year old SWP in her first preparation. Has been trialling quite soft ZORBRIST ran third on debut behind Girl’s Day Out and God’s Gate (races at Belmont Wednesday). Numbers: 9 – 7 – 6 – 2 Suggested Bet – CELEBRITY SKIN WIN RACE 5 WITH DISCRETION covered the ground really nicely in his trial. Still new, still green and still raw but Michael Grantham’s team is breathing fire and he takes him straight to the races. Think he’ll be a better horse after a break but is naturally talented enough to win this on debut. Stable just worth following. BOUSSAC was confidently backed first-up for new trainer Meryl Haley in a race that contained sharp maiden Our Mate Archie. Loomed large a few times up the home straight but was ultimately unable to reel him in. Should go close again. AMAZING CHEAT was unlucky first-up. CHINO LA DIVA was a nose between 1st and 4th last start. Numbers: 12 – 3 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – WITH DISCRETION WIN RACE 6 FRAPPUCCINO resumed in a 60+ Graduation behind sharp sprinting type Bravo Centurion. Second-up he sat in the breeze outside of very well fancied debutante Flagship and they probably brought about the undoing of each other and both faded out noticeably late in the race. Always shown plenty and gets his chance from an ideal draw. REPEATER looks a big danger on paper. Did it tough fresh when wide and then kept coming when tested last start. Drawn out again but getting closer and closer. FLYING FOREVER caught the eye at trials. SNIP THE WIRE got home okay on debut. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 8 – 10 Suggested Bet – FRAPPUCCINO WIN RACE 7 MISSILE STORM has won back to back races for a highly in form SJ Miller. Looks quite a one paced type who Bradley Parnham rides aggressively and is happy to put into the race earlier rather than later. Expect he looks to stay off the fence so that he’s not dictated to. JARMAN has actually run two cheeky races for Greg Jones this campaign and hasn’t had any luck in either of them. Going along better than it looks. DARK MISSILE finds this easier than his first-up run behind No Brainer. ROCH LEGACY put it all together last start and broke a long run of outs. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – MISSILE STORM WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 6,7,9 3,12 2,3,8 2,6 Market Market
