Scott Embry’s Wednesday Belmont Preview Posted on February 13, 2024February 13, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 KINELLINS LEGACY and THE CANDY KID both come from the same form reference race behind Olajuwon. There wasn’t much between them but in the small field it does look like KINELLINS LEGACY will get her chance to sit back and zap them late. The blinkers came off last start and it looked a smart move considering she settled a little bit better. Hopefully between Enlace, The Candy Kid and Alnaud they roll along at a reasonable tempo even though there’s only 7 of them and she gets her chance. THE CANDY KID will enjoy a soft run right over the top of the speed and hold a field position advantage over her in running. Logical danger. ALNAUD is racing alright. BROWN MORN looks a real one batter. Numbers: 6 – 2 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – KINELLINS LEGACY WIN RACE 2 IVANA’S GIFT was huge first-up no trial at Bunbury when sitting wide throughout and going under by only 1L. There’s naturally a query on the quality of the form line with the winner He’s Archie a double figure maiden going into that event, however, in fairness to He’s Archie he looks like he’s returned in career best form. To the eye Ivana’s Gift was the run of the race and she has the tactical speed necessary to fully use up her inside draw. Gets her chance in another thin race. ANTIQUE STAR was hammered late in betting on debut off the back of a nice trial. She raced without cover and looked a bit lost. Respect the money. ZENIQUE is racing below what he showed as a 2 year old. ROYAL ACCOLADE has had a lot of chances. Numbers: 11 – 13 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – IVANA’S GIFT WIN RACE 3 MAGNACHINE split Our Rocky Bay and subsequent winner Prince of Santos two starts back at Pinjarra and then struck what looked a super maiden on paper last start behind Princess In Red, Just Famous and Deferred. Happy to suggest that all three of those animals are more talented than what she meets here so while she was only fair in fourth placing she looks to have found a weaker assignment here. Ready to win. I’M THAT GIRL was a big replay watch on debut. Did a lot wrong early and then got held up multiple times in the home straight. Looks to have ability. SCENERY has always promised to win a maiden and has again trialled well. NO BID trialled well in shades. Numbers: 7 – 11 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – MAGNACHINE WIN RACE 4 PRINCESS IN RED makes that awkward step from a maiden into a C1 and being a transferred meeting from Bunbury Keshaw Dhurun has no claim so she rises up 3.5kg in weight. Not an easy ask but they’ll go quick in this and she can sit back and show a turn of acceleration. Nice filly. SUNBRONZED won well on debut and then the punters showed their hand before he was a late scratching at his second start when annihilated in betting. LORD VAMPI is an above average 3 year old resuming. Like his form, liked his trial, just struggle with the map for him. CHEEKY CHARLOTTE was simply too quick for them on debut. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 3 – 1 Suggested Bet – PRINCESS IN RED WIN RACE 5 ART OF CONSENT looks suited dropping back into a mid-week race. Two starts ago she beat Tycoon Harry who has since franked the form by winning twice and then last start she went from a C1 straight into a 60+ Graduation when only beaten 2.3L by Bigdayonit, Uncle Gerard and highly impressive subsequent winner Comic Hero (as well as subsequent winner Art of Sabrage and place getters Valsassina & Keep Attacking). Back to a C3 and Madi Derrick riding winners aplenty at the minute. Right race. DIVINE FLIRT is well proven at this C3 level and from the draw ZJP can either lead or take a sit behind them. Good starting spot for her. SIMPLE LOGIC is as honest as they come. DIVINE PAIR is hard to catch but barrier 1 should suit him well and he goes best fresh. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 3 – 2 Suggested Bet – ART OF CONSENT WIN RACE 6 SECRET IDENTITY was a solid return behind Gift Of The Heart in a 66+ when held up from straightening until the 200m going down by under 3L and then went to another 66+ when settling rearwards and struggling to get into the race. We’ve already seen Birdieagle back-up off 7 days out of that event and win well and Secret Identity drops back into a midweek 0MWLY and importantly gets back to Belmont which might just be a more suitable surface than Ascot. Looks the big improver. LORD GANNICUS has been hard to catch across his career. He has blinkers going on, he has a claiming apprentice going on and he finds a race without any real depth. Now or never for him. ROGUE’S POINT has raced well since returning to the grass. MY FURY went well fresh. Numbers: 1 – 3 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – SECRET IDENTITY WIN Quaddie (Race 3 – 6) 1,7,11 3,5,7,8 1,5 1,3,4,5 Market Market
