Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on March 5, 2024March 7, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PULL THE TRIGGER was scratched from the Lex Piper Stakes on Saturday to save for this 1800m maiden and it looks like they’ll be rewarded for taking the softer option. First-up he ran second behind Another Strike in a 3 year old 0MWLY and actually drops 1.5kg in weight coming into an easier assignment second-up. Only concern is leader’s back in a slowly run race but with even luck he’ll out sprint these. TRIO has drawn barrier 15 of 16 and 10 of 12 in two runs back this campaign. Can settle much closer here. WEST COAST WARRIOR can actually roll forward in his races and wasn’t bad last start. MANZOR MAGIC has a set of shades going on and wants ground. Numbers: 4 – 7 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – PULL THE TRIGGER WIN RACE 2 CHOIXWAY was annihilated in betting first-up, from $9 into $4.60 and then was attacked in the early stages before having to tow the rest of the field to the leader. He was left wanting late but in review it was a super tough on speed effort to go down by only 2L at the finish. Drops into a 3 year old 0MWLY and can slide forward to sit up over the speed. With the Easterly blowing all day at Ascot it should suit those up on the pace and that’s his racing pattern. SHOOTING SPIRIT was super in the 3 year old Magic Millions at Pinjarra when weaving a late passage into fifth. This is easier and he’s got gears. DIABLO LAD was brave last start. He tracked up the speed set by Sass Machine and went she put up the white flag he kept coming. GOLD VANCOUVER was solid down the straight first-up. Numbers: 1 – 5 – 2 – 7 Suggested Bet – CHOIXWAY WIN RACE 3 MILLSTEE broke her maiden from the breeze over 1200m at Belmont Park and then went to a deep C1 1400 (Miss Skyhigh and Starrating both Listed Placed after the Ascot 1000 Guineas) and now she comes back to 1200, has a set of blinkers attached and can park right over the top of the speed, likely parking outside Exporose. Think from there she’s a big show at an eachway quote. BONDI PLUNGE will be understandably popular after a dominant maiden win. She rises 2kg and is again drawn sticky but she’s got upside. EXPOROSE gets conditions to suit and goes well fresh. INFLUENCING gets a similar run to first-up when saluting. Numbers: 7 – 6 – 9 – 2 Suggested Bet – MILLSTEE EACHWAY RACE 4 ANOTHER STRIKE was beaten a nose first-up, a head second-up and then was a dominant 3 year old 0MWLY winner at his third run of the preparation over 1400m. Rises up 1.5kg in weight but the 3 year old 0MWLY are stronger races than the All-Age C1 events and from the draw he’ll be right up in the firing line throughout. He looks like a nice type who can continue to make his way through the grades. MOJO’S LUCK has raced in better company at 14 of his 15 career outings. His trial and his first two runs this campaign show that he’s in career best form and it’s only a matter of time before he wins another. THE RUSH is as honest and consistent as they come. PRINCESS IN RED finds this much easier than the Challenge Stakes! Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 8 Suggested Bet – ANOTHER STRIKE WIN RACE 5 HIERONYMUS BOSCH is third-up, gets out to a staying trip for the first time and comes through the Icebergs form race which has already been franked with that galloper winning a 60+ Graduation at Ascot on Saturday. Like the way he found the line last start, love the fact that Paul Harvey sticks with him and he’s always given the impression he would enjoy a bit of ground in time. SILVER BACK JACK is bursting to win another race. Half a length off stablemate and 2x subsequent winner Bonjoy before carrying 60kg in the rain at Pinjarra when second to handy midweek type Fat Roy Slim. Right set up for him. SANTA BRAE is proving hard to catch but think this is his right trip/grade. BLUE CARD makes his own luck. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 2 – 5 Suggested Bet – HIERONYMUS BOSCH EACHWAY RACE 6 ROGUE’S POINT looks your ideal Ascot Easterly breeze leader. He’ll roll to the top, he’ll control the speed and he’ll start to up the tempo from the 600 and try to run them off their legs. Anthony Barton has produced 19 winners from 113 runners at 16.8% SR and 16% POT across his training career and the old grey is going suer. OCEANZARA is another who is racing with great consistency at the minute and has the versatility to sit close handy from the good draw. She was excellent behind Premium Girl last start. AGASSI can hold up leader’s back and follow Rogue’s Point through when he goes for home. MADAME MAGIC is the most talented horse in the race but could have conditions really against her. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – ROGUE’S POINT WIN RACE 7 STYLISH LORD could not have been more impressive first-up. In the words of Rusty Stewart post-race “that was a good training performance wasn’t it” and from the increasingly popular twitter account of Jimmy Stewart “that was stylish”. He parked over the top of a genuine tempo and he unleashed a powerful turn of foot on straightening to get away from them and win soft. He’s a horse on the rise. ROMMEL’S JEUNEY was run down by Icebergs last start who went straight from a C3 to win a 60+ Graduation on the weekend. He’s on speed and on his day he’s hard to get past. SENSESSIONAL has a set of shades going on after getting caught flat footed last start. HIS EMINENCE was a nice return behind the Ascot 1000 Guineas winner Own The Queen. Numbers: 10 – 12 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – STYLISH LORD WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2,4,8 1,2,3,5 2,3,4,5,7 9,10,12 Market Market
