Warren Huntly’s Wednesday Sandown Preview Posted on March 5, 2024March 7, 2024 | Posted by Warren Huntly Race 1 Even race but ARCTIC FAIRY stuck on well after working last start and maps for a much better run. MEETMEIN MELBOURNE has jumped out well to resume. GILMORE beat home Arctic Fairy last time but had a better run throughout the race. LAZY SUSAN comes back to 1000m but is hard fit and has a decent record at the trip. MISS BLACK DIAMOND will give a sight on speed. Selections: 1,3,4,2 Suggested Bet: Arctic Fairy to win Race 2 QUICKSTER found 1200m in a slowly run race on the Lakeside circuit a bridge too far first up but looks the one to beat at short odds here. THAT’SWHATSHESAID was no match for the short-priced favourite first up but will strip fitter. MR MARRAKECH had his chance last time but will strip even fitter third up. HENRY’S BLADE looks suited with the application of blinkers. CAT NOIR will make her own luck on speed. Selections: 14,11,7,6 Suggested Bet: Quickster to win Race 3 TAMAHINE chased well behind a subsequent metro winner last start and should relish the extra 100m. FAST FREEZE had no luck at a crucial stage in the same race as FINALE (blinkers back on) and both have claims. EL PENSADOR swaps winkers for blinkers, he ran on ok on debut behind the horse that went on to win the Rising Stars final. BIDEN TIME, CERMONIOUS, CERMONIOUS and THE JESTER’S SON are among the other chances in a deep race. Selections: 14,12,13,7 Suggested Bet: Tamahine each way Race 4 BRAZEN KINGDOM has had a gap between runs since his encouraging return but looks well placed if forward enough second up. FIRE OF ETNA is fit, consistent and may be more effective ridden a pair or two further back. THINKING RAIN has returned in good form and maps for another good run. ARTZINO and THE AUTUMN BELLE have claims. Selections: 7,6,12,3 Suggested Bet: Brazen Kingdom each way Race 5 SUNSHINEINMYPOCKET sprinted impressively to win on debut and looks capable of measuring up to this grade. GALLANT PRINCE has trialled well to kick off his second prep. RHAPSODY CHIC should’ve finished closer first up and will be suited by the extra 100m. ROMA’S WISH is racing well for the new stable and may be able to settle a bit closer. ASAWIN has jumped out in good style to resume at a suitable trip. Selections: 5,7,4,3 Suggested Bet: Sunshineinmypocket each way Race 6 ENTITLED PRINCESS was a bit plain last time but her previous form was very good and she has trialled well between runs. GOLD WOLF gets blinkers back on after running well in the Tassie Derby. SAMUEL LANGHORNE gives every impression he will relish 2400m on a spacious track. SON OF SOLLY will be fully fit now and maps for a soft run with the claim. Selections: 6,4,8,2 Suggested Bet: Entitled Princess each way Race 7 SCISSOR STEP has plenty of weight even after the claim but brings a handy firt up record and has jumped out in great style. PANTELONE maps for a good run behind a solid speed and has also jumped out well. PERILIOUS FIGHTER brings some strong form lines from his last prep and has trialled well to resume. FIELD OF FLUTES has jumped out in typically sharp fashion and will give a sight. SPEEDTAIL displayed above average ability in his first campaign and has been jumping out ok. Selections: 1,7,6,3 Suggested Bet: Scissor Step each way Race 8 FREIGHT TRAIN worked home strongly to win impressively on debut and looks hard to beat despite the rise in grade. INEVITABLE AWARD also broke his maiden in good style last start, he still does a bit wrong but has obvious talent anf the winkers come off. MIDNIGHT GLOW has been racing well, and will be strong late dropping back to 1800m. BAREFOOT TORA had her chance last start but is race fit and may appreciate coming back to 1800m. SO SLEEK is a likely improver third up. Selections: 13,15,7,16 Suggested Bet: Freight Train to win Market Market
