Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on March 23, 2021March 23, 2021 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 DIVINE PAIR and SAVAGE ONE both come from a 3 year old 62+ Saturday race when finishing behind talented duo Our Boy Dylan and Sassy Trader. DIVINE PAIR rattled to the line from well off the speed and gets a 2.5kg weight swing in his favour for beating home Savage One. From the draw he doesn’t need to get that far back and with the cutaway in play those settling off speed get their chance. SAVAGE ONE is double nominated for Wednesday and Thursday and regardless of which option Adam Durrant selects he’s a top 2 chance. HOW’S THE SERENITY resumes off the back of a solid trial down the straight. STRIKE is the unknown commodity. Debut 2 year old winner in October 2019, who resumes a gelding in WA. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 2 Suggested Bet – DIVINE PAIR WIN RACE 2 FLYING MISSILE comes from hot Saturday 2 year old form races when last in work. On debut ran third behind Heavenly Waters in the Crystal Slipper before bumping into Ultimate Command and then Policiere. At her last outing she got within a head of Policiere (jumped favourite in the Supremacy Stakes and then ran second in the Gimcrack) and beat home Pixie Chix (second in the Supremacy Stakes). Jump and run type who should be far too slick for these. Cue an avalanche of fixed odds support for her. PLEMONT looks a handy type on debut. She will get back but from what we’ve seen at trials will be doing her best work late. SECRET LAIR has been far from disgraced in two outings to date and gains the services of W.Pike. ELITE FIGHER has shown a bit at the trials in two campaigns. Numbers: 6 – 8 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – FLYING MISSILE WIN RACE 3 ELECTRIC ROSE was caught three deep throughout in her most recent Belmont trial and kept coming impressively down the straight. Not convinced on the ability level of those who were in behind her at the trials but she looks a type and strikes a very winnable race on debut. WARPIPES was stiff to run into a filly as talented as Pat’s Got Sass last start. This looks a much weaker race. AIN’T NO OTHER MAN had no luck on debut but still chased hard and the recent jump out looked sharp. AWESOME RIVAL was an interesting watch on debut. Did everything wrong and yet still ran through the line. Numbers: 9 – 1 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – ELECTRIC ROSE EACHWAY RACE 4 LET’S CUT LOOSE didn’t get the best of luck on debut and was immediately tipped out for a spell. Resumes here off the back of an all the way 1000m straight Pinjarra trial victory where she had no blinkers. Shades on for race day, Pike into the saddle and from the draw can settle right over the speed. Doesn’t look any standouts in the race so she gets her chance. FAMOUS JURNEY was well supported late in betting first-up and ran on well late from back in the field. Doesn’t look your typical JP Taylor front running type, so expecting him to settle off them again and be ridden with cover. MISSILE extended nicely at trials when asked for an effort. MIA NOBILE was luckless on debut and still came home in a similar last 600 to Famous Jurney. Numbers: 7 – 5 – 3 – 8 Suggested Bet – LET’S CUT LOOSE WIN RACE 5 CARABINIER is a proven fresh commodity. Winner first-up last preparation in a Saturday 58+ and looks well placed first-up into this C3. Kind of horse who could sneak under the radar of the market and open an eachway quote. Can settle midfield with cover from the draw and when they fan for home he gets his chance. Open race. BEAU ZOOM has accepted after resuming first-up no trial on Saturday. Interesting to see if he does actually back-up off 4 days. TRADE PRIZE has been going better than numerical form suggests and can improve sharply. CLASSIC MAGNUS is better than what she produced first-up in an unsuitable race. Numbers: 3 – 2 – 10 – 5 Suggested Bet – CARABINIER EACHWAY RACE 6 CITY CIRCLE has really hit peak form in the last few starts. Placed to Cuballing three starts ago and at her most recent finished fourth behind talented Saturday speedsters River Beau, Mood Swings and Kramden. Beat home Holy Ghost and Cuballing in that run and now drops back into a midweek race. Versatile mare who should be giving this a shake. FIERY WATER will no doubt improve over further but hard not to be impressed with the recent trial and he looks very progressive. SUPER EX won first-up no trial last preparation and follows a similar campaign here. DANNY GEORGE should be about ready. Numbers: 8 – 5 – 4 – 1 Suggested Bet – CITY CIRCLE WIN RACE 7 DARING SOLEIL won impressively at Ascot two starts ago this track and distance. Went round favourite in a similar quality C3 at her most recent and things didn’t go right for her and Clint Johnston-Porter. Looks the kind of mare who will be suited to cutaway racing, tucked away in behind horses and saved for one short sharp late burst. GREAT WATERS rates particularly well for this. If he is ready to go first-up at 1600 he’ll take beating. Has great form for a race like this. SCINTILLATING drops back from a Saturday race which has held up as a form reference. Building into the preparation. KORANIS is going super and went within a nose of giving JJ Noske his first winner as a trainer last week. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 8 – 6 Suggested Bet – DARING SOLEIL EACHWAY RACE 8 HOLY GHOST has been eye catching at every run this preparation. Split Cuballing and City Circle in a 60+ three starts ago (race containing two time subsequent winner Amasenus) before striking a white hot C3 two starts ago (Amasenus, Devine Beast, She’s Enchanted, Our Boy Dylan), and most recently settled in a different post code to the winners when flashing late behind River Beau and Mood Swings in the fastest last 600, 400 & 200. Ready to win. KAPTAIN KAOS is thrown into a C3 off the back of a maiden victory but it was in style and he has always flashed huge potential. NOBLE REFLECTION has shown glimpses and should get last crack at them. WARDIAN won well down the straight last start. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – HOLY GHOST WIN RACE 9 FREQUENT FRIAR backs up off 7 days for the first time and hails from a stable whose horses thrive off the quick turnaround. Last week’s 1800 was run 5L faster than C1 average so that should prove the strongest form reference with a number of them coming from the same race. Should position midfield with cover and in an eachway the field race looks as good a chance as any. SMOKING BARREL ran the fastest last 600 in that race and is a 7 day back-up winner. Drops in weight and has been knocking on the door. GO IT ALONG was first-up at 1800m and did his best work late and through the line. Looks like going through the grades. FINAL CHILL has been consistently there abouts this preparation and should go well. Numbers: 6 – 10 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – FREQUENT FRIAR EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 6 – 9) 4,5,8 1,5,6,7,8,9 2,3,5 2,3,4,5,6,9,10,12,13 Market Market
