Scott Embry’s Wednesday Ascot Preview Posted on January 27, 2026January 27, 2026 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 FLAVOURSOME put in a ripper four back behind Rising Fame and then was sent out $2.80 favourite in the race won by Arpione three starts ago when she never really looked a winning chance at any stage. After bouncing back to form last week at 1400m behind Morf at 80-1 no doubt she’ll be nice and short again. Bit of a trust issue because she’s been a little hit and miss but won’t get many better opportunities than this. UNIVERSAL IMPACT got within a length of Parish Prince last start this track/distance but did get every favour from a perfect barrier. SAUCISSON was three deep the trip last start and kept coming. Needs momentum but won’t get that from barrier 1. WHISKERS HARBOUR looks a one paced 1800m type. Numbers: 5 – 6 – 2 – 1 Suggested Bet – FLAVOURSOME WIN RACE 2 TWO TIME CHARLIE is a nice horse in the making. He trialled super at Lark Hill behind Mind Field and then was a last to first winner first-up for new trainer SJ Miller at Bunbury when getting the better of now Saturday winner Watto’s Mark in the final stride. Steps out to 1400m, draws to get a kinder run and looks above average. WONDERFULLY MADE ran a big second on debut as a 2 year old and then went into the Gimcrack Stakes at her second career outing. First-up last campaign something clearly wasn’t right when she went under at $1.70 and since spelling has again trialled impressively. NAUGHTY LORD comes through a 3 year old 0MWLY when finishing second to handy filly Pure Silver. He’s starting to do things right and getting closer and closer. PURE MAC wasn’t bad at 200-1 fresh. Numbers: 2 – 5 – 3 – 7 Suggested Bet – TWO TIME CHARLIE WIN RACE 3 GREAT PROMISE went to a 3 year old 1000 on a Saturday last start and gave plenty of cheek before running fourth beaten less than 1L behind Sound of Speed, Storm Away and Like Clockwork in a race that should hold up as a form reference. She’s quick and she’ll be in front for a long way at an eachway quote. DON’T WINK ran fourth in the Belgravia first-up behind King of Light and then went to a Placid Ark second-up. At her only maiden outing she ran down Bannered in the final strides and on a two month freshen looks to have found a winnable race at 1000m. GIRLS DAY OUT won impressively on debut and then had a frustrating preparation when last in work, beaten favourite on four consecutive occasions. She’s trialled really well for her return but does look a sticky barrier on paper, especially under the full 59kg. MR KISSINGER next best. Numbers: 8 – 7 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – GREAT PROMISE EACHWAY RACE 4 ADMIRE ASTRA broke maiden status over 1400m and then was thrown into the deep end in the WA Champion Fillies when beaten 4.5L behind Pure Excess and Talkanco. Solid trial behind sharp filly Excess Baggage and has the versatility to be ridden to track conditions. Expect she’s the one that the market comes for. NAUGHTY TORTIE led and won his maiden by 4.8L over now Saturday quality stablemate Triple The Chant. They’re yet to really ride him in that manner since and he’s yet to race to anywhere near the same level. AUTUMN GEM tried hard behind Poblano and then franked the form last start. CABLE ROCK continues to go really well but ultimately is 1 from 20. Numbers: 7 – 1 – 9 – 4 Suggested Bet – ADMIRE ASTRA WIN RACE 5 KNOCKONEBACK met with some late support at double figures last start and wasn’t too bad in fourth behind Flinders Lane (key form reference race). He’s drawn to get a better run and he should be improved for the outing over the trip. There’s very little between these mid-week stayers and it all comes down to who gets the right run. MODELISTIC is working towards another win and goes around eachway every time she races. She’ll get back regardless and being drawn wide is the better than drawing inside for a mare with her racing pattern. GLANCED was only beaten 4L in a 60+ Graduation last start. This is a big drop in grade for her and she’s bred to stay. DANDY FLIRT bolted in last start but as we saw Monday at Bunbury the horses through that maiden are extremely limited. Numbers: 12 – 4 – 2 – 11 Suggested Bet – KNOCKONEBACK EACHWAY RACE 6 PLANET CASH landed good bets last start at Pinjarra when $16 into $6 and ending a winless streak that had spanned nearly 1000 days. This is his grade and from the draw he gets a near identical run. See no reason why he can’t win again. 1800m is a new distance range for him but he stuck on well last start when challenged. OUR NEMESIS is really well placed by Dave Hopperton. After leading and winning a C5 he stepped into a re-handicapped 72+ and was only 3.5L behind Our Paladin Al. Back into a 60+ and ‘only’ has 59.5kg after the Holly Nottle claim. He’s a proven weight carrier (lumped 61 at Albany to victory five back) and has been in good enough form all prep to win this. KIMBERLEY ROSE has returned in great order and is knocking on the door. BLACK FOR CASH gets in with 53.5kg and is getting very close now. Numbers: 3 – 1 – 4 – 5 Suggested Bet – PLANET CASH EACHWAY RACE 7 CHEYNE BAY is a lightly raced 4 year old who looks to have some upside and a staying future. Love the way he attacked the line first-up at 1400m behind Mangifera and The Scholar and he’ll only improve deeper into the campaign as they continue to step him out over further. No doubt some of the sprint comes out of his legs second-up but hopefully that’s offset by the barrier and the ability to hold a position midfield. MY HARV has been attacked in betting at her last two after getting under the guard and winning a C1 first-up at double figures. Should get every chance and the entire of WA would cheer her home with great memories of Mr Web. GOLDEN KATHLEEN has been ridden really well by 3kg claiming apprentice Natika Riordan her last two and she’s racing in great style at the minute. REBELNADO hasn’t raced for 7 weeks but has come of age over ground. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 1 – 5 Suggested Bet – CHEYNE BAY EACHWAY Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,4,5,7,9,11 2,3,4,11,12 1,3,4,5 1,2,6 Market Market
