Scott Embry’s Tuesday Geraldton Preview Posted on November 4, 2024November 4, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 A LOT OF CLASS finished second to Rally The Troops who goes around favourite in a C1 1500 at Ascot and beat home Mythical Dream who goes around favourite in an 1800m maiden at the same program. Looks the logical form reference and looks hard to beat. CRYSTAL ROSE could give Graeme Hammarquist a genuine look in at a quinella. Think she’ll be better suited rolling forward to stay out of trouble. BLACK SANDS nearly beat Just Gifted at 80-1 two starts back. BIG BONED BAZ was supported in betting last start but never got into the contest. Numbers: 3 – 7 – 1 – 6 Suggested Bet – A LOT OF CLASS WIN RACE 2 WELL PLAYED sat wide throughout in the Ladies Day Sprint at her return to racing when putting the writing on the wall and then duly saluted at her second-up run. She rises to 60kg and she step out to 1618m but she’s the class mare and the form runner of the race. FORBIDDEN APPLE was hammered in betting last start coming out of a maiden and everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Super effort all things considered. BUTTERFLYROCK caused the boilover in that race but did win impressively. UNO ME can lead and give plenty of cheek. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – WELL PLAYED WIN RACE 3 GRINT (elite naming) has some speed (lead them over 1200m at Gawler) and comes through an open trial at Geraldton that contained Westozi and was winding up in behind them under little riding. Worth a spec first-up from a stable that can produce them fresh. DIXIE PRINCESS ran well behind Just Gifted and then again behind Western Lady and subsequent winner Wineaclocksumwhere. HILLSIDE HORACE may find the 1100m on the short side but he showed last campaign that he won’t be a maiden for very long. GOLD LIGHTNING has her first start in WA without a public appearance. Big market watch. Numbers: 2 – 7 – 3 – 9 Suggested Bet – GRINT WIN RACE 4 WESTOZI and WHAT A PRINCE are two of the most popular gallopers in the Mid-West and both have a bit of a cult following. With a 3.5kg pull in the weights and impressive (and soft) recent trial victory going to side up with WESTOZI to score first-up. Albert Bowtell’s yard is flying (Stevie’s May, Well Played, Sauvegarde) and see no reason why WESTOZI won’t enjoy the run of the race and go close at his return, even over an ‘unsuitable’ 1100. WHAT A PRINCE might have 62kg but he has Chris Nicoll back. MINUS LOOKS and ARABIAN RICHES are in the twilight and racing a bit below their best. Numbers: 2 – 1 – 4 – 3 Suggested Bet – WESTOZI WIN RACE 5 SAUVEGARDE is another on what could be a big day for the Albert Bowtell stable who should run well. Great effort fresh behind Safe Hustle and gets a 2.5kg weight swing to try and turn around a 1L defeat, plus natural improvement second-up, plus a barrier swing. Think she can turn the tables. SAFE HUSTLE ran second to King Akeed before winning well last start this track/grade. Extra 100m won’t worry him! SURE NO SOMETHING was through the same race and was luckless. Looked to have plenty of horse but nowhere to go. BIN SHALAA brings dirt form from Broome / Newman / Moora to Geraldton. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – SAUVEGARDE WIN RACE 6 MIFF MUFFERED MOOF is ready to win. Ran well in the Odin Omen race beating home many key rivals and then in a 58+ last start finished third behind Well Played (likely to be very popular again in Race 2). This is her chance. WHO BE WHATEE for the first time in a long while drops back into a C2. After the Amy Jo Hayes claim has 57kg and should enjoy the right run in an open and even contest. MONTY ZOOMER covered some ground first-up no trial and did a massive job to still somehow run fourth behind King Akeed. Drawn to get a much softer run from barrier 1! STAY ASTERN made a sweeping run out wide second-up and fought on well into second. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – MIFF MUFFERED MOOF WIN RACE 7 ON THE MARK is a nice galloper. He is only the winner of a Carnarvon maiden on paper but it’s what he has produced outside of that dominant dirt victory that has punters excited for his return to the track. He sat three deep the trip in a 3 year old Plate on a Saturday at Belmont as a maiden and finished half a length off King’s Salute. Has ability. STEVIE’S MAY and SOARING SOLO are both impressive last start winners who are in form and map to get the runs they need to stretch On The Mark. BEAUTY IN ME finds a new home and ran some good races at Esperance last prep. Numbers: 2 – 6 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – ON THE MARK WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 2 1,2,5,6 1,2,3,4 2,6,8 Market Market
