Scott Embry’s Thursday York Preview Posted on October 9, 2019 | Posted by Scott Embry Scott Embry’s Preview Race 1 EYE OF THE DAY drops sharply in grade. Last start was in a Saturday 3 year old race which contained Miss West Coast, Mia Dolce, Drinkwhatyoulike, Obstination, Warfish and others who are far better opposition than she meets here. If Staples can lead she should win. FETCH MORE AMMO was winding up late last start and should only improve into the preparation. Can settle closer from the draw. ALLS SQUARE won well last start and Brian Rogers has been in form for months. METALLIC QUEEN has a short sharp sprint on her day. Numbers: 4 – 3 – 6 – 7 Suggested Bet – EYE OF THE DAY WIN Race 2 BRAGGADOCIOS is still a maiden but ran into one out of the box first-up when beaten comfortably by Red Can Man who has since won a Saturday 3 year old race. Takes on 52+ opposition here which is intriguing placement but has the ability to win. WILDONBROOK is speedy and can cross. SPORTY SPICE will have lots of supporters and should hold up box seat. BON VOYAGE is running out of chances but has hit a rating where the stable will have fun this summer. Numbers: 3 – 5 – 7 – 2 Suggested Bet – BRAGGADOCIOS WIN Race 3 ROSE THIEF drops from a C3 into a weak 46+. She has shown her fair share of ability throughout her career but obviously has a few issues and races very greenly. If Edwards can get across to the breeze from the outside she’s very hard to beat. BLACK SMUGGLER goes very well at his local track and has put in two good runs this prep. PICASSO BAY can fire late off a soft run. TAKE IT LIKE A MAN was the target of relentless support at Toodyay. Numbers: 1 – 6 – 3 – 5 Suggested Bet – ROSE THIEF WIN Race 4 CENSURE should jump into a nice position on the speed and hold a mid race break over the favourite. Debut effort was not the strongest but the form from that race has been super. Trialed nicely and can give this a shake. FROMWHERE comes to York on debut which has historically not been the happiest of hunting grounds for Cerise and White odds on pops. Has produced two almost identical trials. Interesting to see how she goes. POWDERBELLE is better than the first-up effort. KING CABERNET could be an improver. Numbers: 9 – 10 – 8 – 7 Suggested Bet – CENSURE WIN Race 5 HIP WIGGLE put the writing on the wall late last campaign when third to Mia Dolce and Rocky Path who have both won races since. The trial effort was good shooting up the fence and this is not a strong race. MARCASITE draws poorly but showed a little bit in the most recent trial. TRADE THUNDER was never fully tested at Lark Hill and draws soft. KEEP IT HUSH sustained a long run at Belmont in a recent trial. Numbers: 6 – 3 – 1 – 2 Suggested Bet – HIP WIGGLE WIN Race 6 TOGETHER WE DREAM is a speedy mare resuming. She trialed well recently at Lark Hill and from the draw should take up a prominent position in running. Has to lump 61.5kg first-up but this is a far weaker race than she saw all of last preparation. REACTION is ready to win another race and draws well. FASCINATION is well suited in these races and Brad Parnham is starting to ride very well again. SCHIMMEL won well last start in easier. Numbers: 1 – 7 – 2 – 4 Suggested Bet – TOGETHER WE DREAM WIN Race 7 ABELDANE is one who should be suited by the York circuit. Kristy Bennett has now ridden him twice and you would imagine she will be looking to march them up the hill and then let him stride and go for home attempting to pinch it before the corner. He doesn’t have a turn of foot and doesn’t seem to respond well to the whip but he can stay. PROXY drops in grade and has been building into the preparation. BUCKTORIO gets back in his races but has shades added to gear. LANGLEY is hard to catch but this grade suits him well. Numbers: 2 – 4 – 5 – 1 Suggested Bet – ABELDANE WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 9,10 6 1,2,4,7 1,2,3,4,5 Market Market
