Scott Embry’s Thursday Pinjarra Preview Posted on December 24, 2024December 24, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 PROMISING finished a luckless fifth at her return to racing behind Supernatural and subsequent winners Daytona Pete and De Grandhomme. It’s the obvious form reference, she was never tested by Shaun O’Donnell and with even luck this time around she can burst through to victory. PRINCE EPAULETTE won a recent trial in blinkers when fully tested but did extend nicely late and more importantly David Harrison’s fly down the straight. MANGIFERA trialled well and then attempted to buck on debut. ROSAY ALLDAY next best. Numbers: 4 – 1 – 6 – 5 Suggested Bet – PROMISING WIN RACE 2 BARRA MUNDY went around in a C1 last start and finished fourth behind Ain’tsobad, Skytalker and At Your Service. Comes back into a maiden, draws a gate and the trialling brigade look handy, but not intimidating. Think this is a great chance for him to break through and wouldn’t surprise if Paddy Carbery landed in front without much pressure. EXQUISITE TASTE makes his debut in a set of shades and trialled like a horse who needed 1400m minimum. Micky G/CJP a lethal combination recently. TERRITORY MAN is drawn tough but looks like he’ll sustain a run. HOLDOUT next best. Numbers: 4 – 8 – 10 – 3 Suggested Bet – BARRA MUNDY WIN RACE 3 BIRD ON A WIRE has promised to win a race for many preps. This looks a great chance for Luke Campbell to bounce her out, take up the running and try to pinch it on the point of the home corner. POINT OF CONFLICT resumed down the straight behind subsequent Saturday winner Daytona Pete and then while beaten last start at Albany, she may have run into a more than handy galloper in Cosmic Spirit. Always shown enough. OCEAN GODDESS is a 4 year old on debut but from the trials it looks like the patience will pay off. SPARE A PRAYER impressed at trials. Numbers: 8 – 11 – 10 – 4 Suggested Bet – BIRD ON A WIRE WIN RACE 4 ROCKIN’ RUPERT and THE BOSS LADY met last start in a 78+ 1400 and there was very little between them. With the 2kg swing in favour of ROCKIN’ RUPERT and a small field to navigate expect that he’ll take real beating. Has come back in career best form and can park right up over the speed and use his tactical advantage in running over his main rival. THE BOSS LADY is a brilliant mare. She just knows how to win and she’s got a big L600. Pinjarra should suit her. LACED UP HEELS ran a blinder in the Winterbottom and then couldn’t get a run in the Gold Rush. HELL I AM gets down in the weights. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 3 – 6 Suggested Bet – ROCKIN’ RUPERT WIN RACE 5 WHAT’S THE POINT was a big run last start. Lay inwards before the corner and brushed another runner which saw him lose all momentum, and then somehow managed to pick himself up and was pulling ground back off Earthstorm in the last 100. Blinkers on and back to a C1. Just still very new and raw. MY IDOL looks progressive and gives the impression that the further he races over the better he will go. ONLY US has put the writing on the wall at his last two with booming finishes. UNI STRIKE won well on Melb Cup Day. Big space between runs? Numbers: 4 – 7 – 1 – 3 Suggested Bet – WHAT’S THE POINT WIN RACE 6 JUST SAINT JAMES is bursting to win a race. Good thing beat first-up, huge into second second-up with 60kg behind Nonesospicy and then held up the entire last start. Going super and deserves to win one. SCORPION RULER won a C3 1000 at Belmont to end her preparation and is more than capable of making her way through the grades this time in. CESSATION is a sharp mare and is proven down the 1000m straight. The obvious concern – barrier 1. TAWKIN’ JIBBERISH is quick and may look for the outside rail. Numbers: 3 – 4 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – JUST SAINT JAMES WIN RACE 7 TON OF GRUNT has been a follow all the way through the preparation and does look well suited in this line-up from an ideal draw. Been getting a long way back and racing very wide of recent times. Interesting to see whether he can hold a better spot? DEEP SPEED can roll straight to the top and give some cheek. GROUND BRAKER has returned in good order and should be nearly read third-up. MIA GUSTO is going lengths better than it reads on paper. Just can’t find the right run in the right race at the moment. Numbers: 4 – 2 – 1 – 7 Suggested Bet – TON OF GRUNT WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 1,2 4,7 1,3,4,7 1,2,3,4,7 Market Market
