Scott Embry’s Thursday Northam Preview Posted on October 29, 2024October 29, 2024 | Posted by Scott Embry RACE 1 MAKE YOUR POINT comes through the Ain’t No Other Man race that was run 5.5L faster than average and with that horse winning again in the Westpeed 1200 on Saturday it makes the form stand out. This race also lacks a genuine leader and expecting that Alex Hearn will ride him with aggression. Nice race for him. LOST GRAVITY ran some big races in defeat last preparation and looks ready to work his way through the grades this time in. GOLD VANCOUVER sat wide throughout last week at Belmont and prior to that was a dominant back to back winner. HOW PRETTY has a turn of foot. Numbers: 5 – 1 – 2 – 3 Suggested Bet – MAKE YOUR POINT WIN RACE 2 APACHE ADIOS only had one start as a 2 year old and didn’t beat a runner home. The recent trial as a returning 3 year old was without blinkers and he was too quick for impressive debut winner Magna’s Choice (also races at Belmont on Wednesday). Going to trust the trial form. BLACK ORA was getting up the inside very powerfully under no riding in her recent 950m trial at Lark Hill. Interesting that CJP doesn’t ride? She’s the half sister to the ill-fated Gimcrack Stakes runner up and Natasha Stakes placed Assetro by Playing God and commands respect. CASSENITE fought on well at trials under minimal riding. SOUTHERN SCANDAL was working home nicely late in his trial without blinkers. Numbers: 3 – 6 – 7 – 1 Suggested Bet – APACHE ADIOS EACHWAY RACE 3 DESERT WAVES sat three and four deep in his recent 950mtrial at Lark Hill and covered the ground well. Another who didn’t fire on debut as a 2 year old and now returns as a 3 year old off an impressive trial. This is winnable from his low draw and he might sneak under the radar a bit. BUBBLES IN RIO is the obvious danger and deserving favourite. She’s finished 2L off Ron’s Finalflutter and then was only nabbed late last start by Surfside Session after being well supported in betting. ROMMEL’S GODDESS chased hard at York. PURO kept battling on in her trial. Numbers: 5 – 8 – 4 – 11 Suggested Bet – DESERT WAVES WIN RACE 4 ANTZ PANTZ BABY was beaten 6L first-up but in a race which was run 8L faster than average and in a race where she drew wide, sat wide and rearwards and attempted to sustain a run from a long, long way out before peaking late. She’s again drawn horribly but she showed enough first-up to suggest she’s one of main players here, especially without War Matters. POLYVANOVA is another 3 year old filly taking on the older horses and she can control from the top. GYPSY LEE ROSE wasn’t too bad at York in a 52+. UNI STRIKE has run well first-up and second-up. Numbers: 11 – 10 – 8 – 5 Suggested Bet – ANTZ PANTZ BABY WIN RACE 5 KING HIT comes through the punters paradise Yorga Pride race first-up and then was only 2L off WA Guineas bound Elite Missile in a 3 year old 1400m second-up. He was also squeezed out late in that race and could have finished a touch closer and he now carries the exact same weight in an All Age maiden. Hard to beat. FRAPPUCCINO was attacked from a long way out at Ascot last start. They stopped the clock 8L faster than average so he was entitled to tip toe late. ALIEN CLOVIS is another on-speeder drawn wide. They can come across together. HIGHLY SPOKEN can hold a better spot in this. Numbers: 7 – 2 – 3 – 4 Suggested Bet – KING HIT WIN RACE 6 BECALOTTI is a bit out of form – but this 46+ is as weak as it gets within 150km of Perth. Amy Jo Hayes should have no troubles finding the front with Becalotti and from there she’s the class mare. Has to carry the weight but if she leads she should take plenty of running down. KAZKAZI has had a 6 week freshen after being run off his legs by an in form Great Fortune. Another who is well placed out of Saturday / midweek metro company. DELTA ANNE is 1 from 41 but her run last Wednesday at Belmont was super. SABINO was winding up late at Geraldton last Thursday. Numbers: 1 – 2 – 7 – 5 Suggested Bet – BECALOTTI WIN RACE 7 LINDEN’S GOLD ran well first-up behind The Great Hoya on a day it was hard to make ground, was luckless second-up when held up nearly the entire length of the home straight and then put in an uncharacteristic shocker last start. Given a month to bounce back and importantly returns to Northam where he’s won all four of his career races. STARCHIENNE was much better last start at Geraldton and gets a cheap run along the fence. GOLD KEEPER has shades off (both wins without head gear) and never got into the contest last start. DIABLO LAD is better than his last three performances. Numbers: 2 – 3 – 7 – 4 Suggested Bet – LINDEN’S GOLD WIN Quaddie (Race 4 – 7) 5,8,10,11 2,3,7 1,2 2,3,4,5,7,8 Market Market
